Fork oil buy Motul 20w costs around 100 bucks and labor bill be about 150-200 bucks. Stick with stock forks, I've met with 2 head on accidents where I crashed the front end of my bike and my fork hasn't bent even slightly.

Yeah.. That's true brother... Mine crashed many times too... Not even bent... But the way it looks from front makes me disappointed.. And I did feel it's a little bit soft.. For my style of riding, I prefer something harder.. USD forks like the ones duke have does the job both in performance and looks. Yeah I know its more rigid chassis.. But modding is always enthusiasm..

Using such thick forks will increase the weight in the front and make handling stiff, unicorn doesn't have close enough power as duke also to handle that weight so you'll lose performance too. For harder suspension usr the 20w Motul oil as I said.

      • 1st serving of my bike is done at 740 Kms

        HI,

Today I got my bike serviced for the 1st time after completion of 740Kms. Service guys told me that I should still ride my bike within 60Kms till I complete 3000 Kms (Is this common)
Also, after the servicing there is sound in the front brake when ever I use the brake. Is this normal or is there any issue with it???

I don't know where the bike ends and I begin...If heaven doesn't allow bikes..I'll ride mine straight to hell.

For longer engine life and smoothness you have to do proper run-in till second service. I'm telling this because I own a rough unicorn which is one year old, became rough because of constant ripping before running in completed. Run-in in the sense not revving it beyond 4.5k rpm. Infact that's the sweet spot of this engine. Do proper gear shifting and try not let other people ride the bike. Because different style of throttle input and shift intervals will cause uneven wear of engine internals which cause shortened engine life, reduced fuel economy and loss of smoothness of unicorn engine. Brake sound is normal. Brake pads will get used to wear and the sound will be gone. After clocking some kms if it persists get the bike to Honda service center.

No early shifts.. No over revving.. Smooth shifts between 3.5-4.5 rpm.

Indeed if you need a butter smooth engine for lifetime, you got to ride it sanely (slowly), don't exceed 4-5 rpm, maintain speeds below 60kph, don't rip at any cost, cos what you do now will be there for the rest of the bike's life, if you take care of it properly now, you'll have an awesome, after that even if you rip your bike's mileage and smoothness won't go down if you rip too . . . So until then ride slowly and change at proper gears. . .

                  Cheers!!!

dont exceed 4k rpm till atleast 1500km. also dont use engine breaking to slow down. use your brakes, they dont cost much to replace. my front disk was also making an annoying squeeling sound but it disappeared after a few weeks when the brake pads get used up properly. ANother thing , dont ride with pillion too much as there will be heavy strain on engine. i didnt even let my mom ride pillion until i completed 1000km

                      Dear all,

The stock chain and Sprocket lasted 36745 Kms.

Changed it along with the rear break shoes last week. Mechanic was against Rolon as the new Rolons last only for 20K Kms.

The Small Sprocket earlier was 15T while the current one is 14T. Rear of old and new is 43T.

Would there be any difference in Mileage/Pickup ?

Tappet Adjusted as there was some noice while accelerating. Note that I changed the Engine Timing chain and timing chain adjustor around 31K kms.

                      Labor: 300.

                      Bike feels much refined now.

By sprocketing it shorter, you will notice slightly better acceleration. But will lose top end performance. Current generation unicorn sprockets are 15/44 (f/r). For old unicorn, it was 15/43 or less. Those bikes had good top ends. But with 14T front sprockets you will lose your top end, though it really works in city traffic. Initial pickup will be marginally better. You might witness a small drop in fuel efficiency. Go to gearing commander.com to find out suitable sprocketing for you.

I shifted from the old gen uni sprocket to the new one and trust me there is hardly any difference, I still did 120kmph with a pillion with new sprocket set.

The sprocket you've used is not meant for unicorn I guess its from the hero xtreme, and rolon is a great brand and AFAIK it is the same which is sold at the ASC.

No bro..old uni top speed is 112kmph( true speed).current version is 105kmph as mentioned by Honda. But new sprocket setup made 0-60kmph reduced to a good 5 seconds. Even I checked it in road conditions and got 5.2seconds. New setup is to reduce fatigue in city traffic. Less down shifts and the bike can even go without a downshift at 35km at 3500rpm in fifth gear. I hardly believe any current generation unicorn catch up with an old first or second Gen ones in highway.

Company mentioned top speed is always lesser, do you really think new uni can just go max 105?? I've done 120kmph on meter with pillion so true speed must be atleast 10kmph less than that and imagine if I was riding single, so true speed should be around 115kmph. One extra tooth at rear doesn't change much.
