Cool, . .
How often you give for servicing?
I don't have an exact time table to give the bike for servicing, I give it every two to three monthly once, other than that, regular oil change at around two to three months and chain cleaning and lubing done by me every 15 days once cleaning the chain and every weekly lubing it myself. . .
OK I just replaced my full clutch housing for approx 3000 bucks and some lubrication done. Dammed it doesn't get covered under warranty
Seems to be much smoother now. I'll try to get the max speed if I find an empty stretch road
--Do you'll change the oil filter on each oil change? Oil Filter??? Nope, . .
I'm using Honda's engine oil viz: Rs.250 so when should I change the oil after 2000kM? Which engine oil are you'll using presently? I'm using Shell Ax7 Advance semi-synthetic oil, one of the best oils that I have come across, it costs you 340rs I guess, not sure. . . Motul is also another good oil but I haven't tried it, may be @sinnerz2000 might help you about Motul. . . Best get off the company oil and start using either of these and see, your performance will be boosted. . .
--Reviews on Motul's 10w40 300V FS oil?

@sinnerz2000 it's like my bike has already run and is almost 50k in just some days, 7 years now. . . Do you think I need a shocks replaced. . ? As of presently, I don't face any problems with it but if there is a pillion, it starts to act as if the suspension is gone completely, may be because I carry fat guys and every hump in the road isn't so comfortable, what do you suggest bro. . ? BTW heard there is something called as engine decarbonisation in Bangalore, done by natural method, planning for that next, . .
Cheers!!!

Re: Honda Unicorn
Try setting your suspension to hard and see if that helps, mostly you won't need to replace it. Ive heightened and hardened my suspension and it feels great.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View Post@sinnerz2000 it's like my bike has already run and is almost 50k in just some days, 7 years now. . . Re: Honda Unicorn
Let me try that as well, BTW I guess the shocks rubber which is at the end of the connecting rod, I guess that is worn out, . . What about the handling after the heightening and you said you faced some problems initially right, what happened about that. . ? BTW will get it done to hard setting next time I leave to service. . .Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostTry setting your suspension to hard and see if that helps, mostly you won't need to replace it. Re: Honda Unicorn
I heightened it mainly coz the wider tyre was touching the sides of the bike under the seat, now the handling is great but some shorties have a problem getting on the rear seat :-POriginally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostLet me try that as well, BTW I guess the shocks rubber which is at the end of the connecting rod, I guess that is worn out, . . And another thing is my bike has become really harsh and there are lots of vibes, can't figure out the problem, I'm sure its not the oil

Re: Honda Unicorn
I guess I should also be facing the same problem bro, BTW what's your rear wheel spec. . ? I upgraded from 3.00-18 to 100/90-18, I guess it started for that. . . Will also try to upgrade the shocks and I love to ride it if the handling is improved. . . BTW about the engine harshness, I do also don't think it's related to the oil, so why don't you plan for a decarbonisation using natural method. . ? I heard it's there in Bangalore and I am going there next time to get my bike's engine decarbonised. . . He said they won't remove the engine, but just insert some high octane or so fluid into the bike's engine and he recommended me to have a one hour treatment of that and said the bike's performance, engine smoothness and all other stuffs will be increased and the vibrations will be reduced. . . Many in Xbhp have also tried and are happy with it, why don't you also give it a go. . ? May be that'd solve your problem. . .Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostI heightened it mainly coz the wider tyre was touching the sides of the bike under the seat, now the handling is great but some shorties have a problem getting on the rear seat :-P

Re: Honda Unicorn
I too upgraded to a 100/90 tyre and since its an off road tyre the buttons are big probably that's the reason it was touching. I'm not sure if decarbonization alone will fix my problem coz I'm getting a tak tak sound too from my engine, I can't tell if its the tappets, the piston or the timing chain that's gone bad. And I read somewhere about engine diesel wash, it decarbonises the engine, I'll see if I can find the link you can probably do it in Mysore itself.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostI guess I should also be facing the same problem bro, BTW what's your rear wheel spec. . ? Re: Honda Unicorn
Decarbonising with diesel seems risky and I got to know about the places where in I can get these and also we get that in Shell Fuel stations, but as I said they are chemicals and the one is Bangalore said that they are doing it in a natural way, no chemicals, . . This is their facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Phd60. . . Just leave them a message and they will reply you back and you will have your doubts cleared by them. . . If there are some noises coming from the engine, then there must be something wrong, BTW which is the oil you are using and did you try changing the oil to see if that improved it, like shifting to a new fully synthetic oil or something. . ? I guess Shell is better. . .Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostI too upgraded to a 100/90 tyre and since its an off road tyre the buttons are big probably that's the reason it was touching. Re: Honda Unicorn
I believe the PASS switch of Unicorn works on DC as the switch is functional even if the engine is turned off..
If So, can we use the same input to the bikes light switch so that we get a good visiblity even at low rev's?2005 - Hercules MTB Thriller | 2018 - Apollo Evade

Unicorn vibration at low RPMs
Hello xBHPians,
This is my first post in this forum.
I have a 2006 Honda Unicorn for which very recently I had the tyres changed.
As per advice on this forum I bought Michelin Sirac Street (Both Front and Back)
Almost immediately I noticed that a strange vibration on the Brake and Gear pedal at very low RPMs in each gear. It was as if something was being pulled and let go.
The duration is very very small maybe a couple of seconds. The exact RPMs are
In third gear -> Around 2100-2300 RPM (can notice it prominently here)
In fourth -> Around 1900 RPM
In fifth Around 1800 RPM
I know its very less speed for the top gears, but did it only to test the points. It happens both during acceleration and deceleration, I could only relate it to RPM readings.
Please help me out on this. I have run across 3-4 mechanics and they seem to just fire in the dark!
Kindly reply any advice is greatly appreciated!

Its possible, but will kill your battery very quickly since its DC and in PASS light both high and low beam are ON at the same time. You'll also have to go for recoiling to increase the battery charging rate.Originally posted by BlackPanther View PostI believe the PASS switch of Unicorn works on DC as the switch is functional even if the engine is turned off..

yea I read about them, seems they use hydrogen gas and charge about 1k for 60mins of decarbonizing. I don't want to shift to synthetic coz a unicorns engine is supposed to be smooth even on mineral oil, my brother uses regular Honda oil on his uni and its way smoother and powerful than mine. It feels as if the piston is scraping against the bore.Originally posted by Rakesh Rok View PostDecarbonising with diesel seems risky and I got to know about the places where in I can get these and also we get that in Shell Fuel stations, but as I said they are chemicals and the one is Bangalore said that they are doing it in a natural way, no chemicals, . .
