Honda unicorn 150 engine rebuild

HI GUYS ,
I wanted to know is it suggested to do a engine rebuild to my Honda unicorn 150 2013 model.....
if its so which piston head would be great !! and what are all the things to changed along with with the head change !

I need to replace the front tyre of my 2011 unicorn. Which tyre is suggested and is it possible to make it tubeless? It has alloy wheels.

It is better to use manufacturer specified recommendations. In this case, Tube-Type.

The wheel will be designed specifically for Tube-less tires. Initially there wont be any problem but at a later stage, there might be leakage near the side walls where the tire comes in contact with the wheel.

For the recommended size(2.75 18), there are many good patterns available from different brands.

MRF Zapper FS(Stock Tire) is hard compound and will last longer. MRF also offers other thread patterns which are cheaper(100-200 Rs) than the FS pattern.

Michelin(I think Sirac Street) also has a pattern which costs less than MRF but the grip is superior. My friend is running on Michelin(CBZ Xtreme) and also is recommending others to change for better grip. I am not sure on the life though.

If you search hard, you can also get Bridgestone NewRun tires. I have inquired about the same and the dealer told he will check availability. Bridgestone website is not yet up for 2 wheelers but they launched it long back.

I am going to stick to recommend tyre size and was thinking of going for Michelin this time.

Mrf provides tubeless options..You can get it fitted with the help of a converter,in place of the valve. Iam using the same for quite some time now.No issues till date .So i would say..Go and get it.If you are into log distance riding..a little puncture repair kit and a foot pump can easily help you save time with a tubeless tyre where in the tube type you will have to dismantle the tyre and fix it,consuming a lot of valuable time.

CB Unicorn tyre change giving vibes @ 22kmph

Hi guys,

Need your help.

I have a 2010 CB Unicorn(47k on odo), yesterday I changed my tyres as a set for the first time in 7 years, choose Michelin Sirac street (Front 2.75-18 & Rear 100/90-18).

As soon as I started riding I noticed strange rubbing sound/ vibrations at footpeg exactly at 22kmph "only" (not on any other speeds) on the speedo. I tried depressing the clutch, coasted in neutral same problem. I checked for any scarping marks on tyre, none!

I went to tyre shop this morning. He came pillion with me suddenly vibes were not present. Again I rode single, vibes were back at 22kmph, I was dumb struck. He said there is no problem with tyres, vibes might be due to chain as the new tyre has deeper tread buttons is extended upto 8mm in height vs old tyre.

Might the issue be with Chain slider/chain(replaced @36k kms)? Chain wear indicator is at extreme left(refer pic).

Still I havnt found the solution. Can you please throw some light into the issue.

Hi,

I recently changed my Unicorn's tyre to Michelin Sirac street, tyre performance is great. But facing a issue post tyre swap, exactly at 22kmph I am getting vibes near foot pegs. It is something like rubbing/friction kind of sound. I searched for tyre scarping marks but couldn't find any. But it disappears if a pillion is seated.

Do you have any idea about the issue?

Also can you ask your friend whether he faced similar kind of problem post his tyre swap to Michelin?

There is no post #3187 in this thread. If you are referring to the below post, then i suggest you to check the chain slackness as its around 11k kms old.

Checked the slackness, it is as per prescribed limits. So removed the chain and rode on a gradient road, the vibrations were present at exactly the same speed albeit very less, hence cleaned the chain using kerosene and lubricated after an hour. The vibrations were mild.

Seems there are two culprits

A) the tyre itself which has thicker tread buttons (which needs to bed in)
B) Chain which is ageing.

Hence, I removed the rear wheel and cleaned the damper set and its housing. The vibrations have improved and almost gone(negligible).

Will try replacing the damper set and see for any improvements.

Also, when you remove the wheel for damper replacement, check for smoothness of both the wheel bearings and bearing on the sprocket drum, if not done already.

The same issue happened to me but without a tire change. I suspect this is due to chain being lubricated at one part and is rough at another. Not sure though.
I removed the chain, soaked it in diesel/kerosene, cleaned and dried it and then into oil and also reversed the front sprockets. As your bike has completed nearly 50K Kms, please change the chain slider. As per the picture, you chain and sprockets are healthy.

Added a second horn to my Unicorn. Happy with the DIY. No extra wiring or relay changes made.

Sliced the existing horn wire in the middle and took the additional connection.
