with that kind of running, you should be happy if you get a mileage of 40kmpl.
you can a do test (service center or local mechanic will help you).. they have this small plastic container with graduations on it like 50ml-100ml-150ml.. First put your petrol tap to 'off' position and run till the bike stops (or alternatively you can drain the carb of all the fuel using the drain screw)
Fill up 100 ml in that plastic bottle and connect it directly to the carb (the petrol tank/pet cock tube will be in off and disconnected). Now drive till that 100 ml runs out.
Lets say you do 4.5km on the 100ml.. which means your milage will be 4.5 x 10 = 45kmpl

The problem is that even though the colour of the spark plug is ghostly white,i am getting a meagre average of 36kmpl. My idling rpm is 1 k. Nothing is wrong with the bike as per my knowledge other than the average and i am quite worried about it. 36 is really low.
Air filter costs less than 200 INR. You can better replace it rather than cleaning it.

But Since you say there was no service till 6000K My serious doubt here is :

when was the last oil change done?what is the level of oil burning?
            It's better in the WINDS>

Could you please mention how many kms the bike has run? Has the air filter ever been replaced? According to the manual, you are supposed to replace them every 15k KM... Also carburetor cleaning is done every 8000 km.It cost me about Rs 200. The spark plug should be brown or light grey if the engine is running perfectly. Replace the old plug. They only cost about Rs100. Try filling petrol from a good pump. They are easy to spot. Just see where the Autowalas and taxis go to fuel regularly. Check to see the engine oil level and quality. Does the engine overheat quickly? sluggish acceleration etc? A Bad clutch will also increase your fuel consumption.

What kind of oil should be used to self service external parts like stand/foot rest ?
Also can we lubricate front suspension at home ?
There are only few tools in toolkit is it possible to open most of parts with these few tools ? What other tools require ?

I have ordered ABC OF SERVICING UNICORN but has not yet reached just curious

Engine oil is sufficient, or gear oil ep90 (can also be used to lube chain)

There is no lubrication required for the front suspension. just wash off any dust/dirt on the forks with a slow jet of water. and do not wipe the forks with a dry cloth especially when they are dirty (it could end up causing hair line scratches, that over time can cause the leaks from the fork seals.)

Patience...! read that book. It is a good source of information for the unicorn.

                    Yes.
He really didn't service the bike.
I have the manual and the free service coupons are untouched.
I checked the air filter today, had the mechanic blow pressurised air through it,also he said the carb is fine. I don't think the air filter has been changed since the bike was bought new.
                    The odo reads 8300 now.
2000 kms after last servicing and oil change.

*The previous owner really didn't service the bike.
Also, where i get my bike serviced those guys don't really have any solution to my average problem.
They always say, 'your spark plug is white, avg. Should be 45+'.
As i completed 2000 kms since last oil change i went to my service center and asked him to check it, he put it on his nail and got a dark brown kind of colour. He said it will ne okay till next 500 kms.
I am still wondering how can my bike go without oil change for 2500 kms..it sounds wrong.
Also, if everything is correct and still my bike is not giving me good mileage then what more can be done? I decided to go economy for some time, i filled my tank to the brim and rode for 200 kms without going above 60kmph and then after filling my tank again i checked the milage...32!!!!
That's like really low...better i ride the way i want and get 36.
Today the mechanic did some setting using the rpm and i think the afr screw but he put the idling rpm at 1k which is too low and hence my engine keeps switching off!

Local mechanics will do some weird things like setting the idle RPM low for increasing the mileage, which won't give any result but engine getting switched off now and then.
Adjust the RPM back to 1400-1500 when engine is hot.
If your bike's first owner didn't do any service periodically, you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. Check if the engine is in good condition by doing compression test in an authorised service center.
Laos, you may post the speed at a specific RPM in top gear, so other members can confirm. This will help to understand if there is any clutch issue.

Bringing the average back to normal is not easy, for now all you can do is change spark plug and air filter, check tappet settings, if none of these help then its the problem with the internal engine.
