I think you have crossed 42k km on odo what I could remember. 300-400 ml oil consumption within 6k km is okay for that reading. Top up in every 2K km if level is low. I am close to 50k km and add some 50-100 post 2k km after every oil change.

Wearing of parts vary from rider to rider. It depends on your riding style too. For me, I like to accelerate quick, so more usage of brakes too. Hence early wear of brake pads.

hypheni - that's the purpose of the authorized SVC. They are authorized to loot us. Haha.

Most guys don't read the manual, so the mechanics would try to act smart. You should have checked the chain wear limit on the swingarm. Btw, some guys chain lasts 18k, others, 22k, 30k, 35k, and 40k. Mine is at 45k, and I check the slack every weekend with a ruler.

arvstreetracer- thank you for that update. I was worried that my piston rings were worn out. If there are no adverse effects on the engine or cat con due to the oil consumption, it's fine with me. I use the bike roughly, going up to 7k rpm in first gear almost every day.

Oil consumption from the engine side definitely not a good sign. If you google about it in tech world, that's one of the most commonly asked query. If I am in that situation, I would see how bad it is. I will be checking the exhaust smoke in morning cold start, higher rpms, oil level at each 100 km range , additional voice/heat from engine and lastly the mileage variation. The actual solution here is identify your head issue and fix it, in a really bad situation you may need to replace your piston itself. But you need to do this only in bad stage, because it's a common symptom in all old engines. My unicorn which has crossed 9 years started giving similar problem, but my mechanic was able to manage without opening the engine. I do believe, they have done a flushing and switched the oil to Castrol active 4t.

            Dear Friends,
Thanks for all your suggestions. The issue was with the crank case cover, at the bottom. Had to replace the entire case and it costed ~2700 Rs.

            Take care!

What I wanted to say is already being said by a couple of other members as quoted below so do take a note. Consider the opinions of Honda ASC & local mechanics but you be the judge. Checking of chain/sprocket wear with DIY technique using the owners manual + info available shouldn't be too hard.

Has anyone here used Bosch Brake pads for front? I saw brake pads for Non ABS and I was amazed with the price of just Rs. 170 mentioned in catalogue. I wanted to purchase on the spot but instead was advised to collect from authorised distributor.

If this pads work well with the cbr, then it's a huge relief compared to OEM brake pads.

I am willing to take a chance and swap with the Bosch's pads

I reckon you're referring to this

Interesting though I haven't come across or known anyone using Bosch pads, though many have used Pulsar 220s for the rear. I'd suggest you go for it and your feedback would be very much helpful and appreciated for everyone here.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                  THE END

Hey, I wanted to know, what are the parts that can be replaced with the OEM parts of other manufacturers? I hear that the oil filter can be replaced with the yamaha fz ones ( though I am not sure which fz series, the older carb one or the current fi one) and the non abs pads with pulsar 220 ones . If I get the info, I would make a list and post it for the benefit of all.

alliwanted - brake pads at ₹170? Even the Bajaj pads cost ~₹240 for the rear, I dont think you would be getting any quality stuff with that. Has anyone tried on alixexpress? I can't order due to credit card issues.

The Pads shown are full organic compound pads, and are good for normal use. They will not eat the Rotor . The down sides are 1. They have heat fade, 2. when they become wet, your shoes will have better braking than them...

Ali express has some good Sintered pads for all bikes at affordable pricing...Check the seller rating and how many have bought the same item and their rating of it's use...

Yes even I was shocked seeing the price and asked the representatives. We can trust BOSCH for its quality atleast. They have newly launched hence this price.

Then it's good time to use it now due to no water(rain issue), what say.

Hi there is a guy selling CBR parts on Olx which he had used for his project, what all parts do you think I should procure from him because the ASC might not always have it with them off course I would check the quality and purchase from him. I was thinking of cables, levers, he does not have fairings. Thank you.

When you apply the brake, the rotor and pads slows down the bike through friction. Friction creates heat , and on a Resin/Organic pad this heat increases with repeated /Hard braking ,and makes the pad less effective in friction .This is called heat fade. when the pad cools down it will again become better .
