So my radiator fan is gone. Is there any chance its a blown fuse? The engine temp rises when the bike is not moving. The fan doesnt come on. It was working till yesterday. A round trip of 100 kms today and its gone.

I guess for regular servicing, oil change etc one could stick with Preetam.
I usually have a few issues to be taken care of at each service so I prefer Vihaan as the mechanic there is quite experienced.
Dr. Arnob (search motoroids for Dr arn or google the flying doctor) also comes there for service. He too lives in andheri.
Oh well where in Thane, I might give it a go for my 2nd and 3rd free services. How much time do they usually take? Will I have to come back to Vile Parle and then go again in the evening?

Its in kothari compound, around a km or two off the highway. Regarding time needed for service, its dependent on the work load at workshop.
I usually go at around 10.30 am and get the bike by 2.30 pm.

Nope. None of those. Just the fans not running. Plus the temperature bar goes to max when i am stationary and bike is on. Maybe it cools itself when the bike is running.

Any idea how much it costs to replace the fan?

                  Came across this thread :
General Biking Discussions: Questions, complaints, concerns, rants & everything in between, of course related to biking.

Can some of those mods which are useful for the bike be performed on the CBR 250R.

I have asked the same in that thread, but i.would like to know what our CBR gurus think.

                  Cheers,
                  Sanjay

Mods in any bike depends how you want to be. Performance, cosmetics etc. For performance mods, below are some thing that you can do :
                    1. Freeflow exhaust coupled with free flow air filter. The bike will rev freely, and sound better.
                    2. Aftermarket ECU - it will help you re-map the fuelling and accelerate better.
                    3. Chain sprocket - using after market sprockets( front/ rear and smaller/ bigger) will help you increase the initial or the top speed, whatever you want.

But take my words, CBR is a single cylinder bike, so these mods will not bring too much of difference in performance. To me, these mods apart from sprocketing is a waste of money.

Apart from the above mods, get steel braided lines and better tyres(Michelin or MRF or Pirelli). Steel braided lines will improve braking.

                    Cosmetic mods:
                    1. You can get HID + projector setup. Looks good and better lighting too.
                    2. Indicators can be replaced by LEDs.
                    3. You can get rear fender eliminator. Looks good but will splash a lot of mud in rains.

Hope the post helps you with your queries.

And also keep in mind that changing the sprocket won't show any difference in the speedo console :banghead: as the speed is measured before the front sprocket rather than at wheel(which is how conventionally calculated)

I've been able to churn about an average of 18000 Km before situation demands changing it, otherwise I'm sure the life expectancy is atleast 20000 Km. Replacement cost, somewhere a little over Rs 2000

My first set of chain set lasted 17000 kms. The odo shows almost 31000 now and the chain set is still good for another 2000 kms. The longetivity of chain set depends on how you ride and how frequently you clean and lube it. I clean and lube my chain set every 500 kms irrespective of the weather. The chainset costed me Rs.2300 plus labour.

Yeah. You can get only the chain if you got good rapo with the svc. How can you tell your sprockets are still good. Do remember, the chain rolls over the sprockets, so the sporockets supposedly should wear out at the same rate as the chain.

In case, you don't get only the chain from the svc, you can try getting an aftermarket chain. Though, that can be an expensive alternative.
