Re: Honda CBR 250R
New bikes will have vibrations and heat up more than usual as the parts are new and they take some time for the bedding in process. Make sure you change your engine oil at the right interval as recommended in the manual and take it easy on the bike. Don't ride it too slow or too high. Vary the engine speed, without stressing the engine. You can easily go 100 kmph without batting an eyelid.Originally posted by suvam dash View PostI recently bought the new cbr 250r with bs4 engine, i have done about 390 kms. But from the past 3-4 days i have noticed some significant amount of vibrations from the front end, which were not there when i bought the bike, so is this normal and will this issue be solved after the first service?
Imtiaz. I'm afraid, unfortunately, I don't have any contacts as such in Pune. But any reputed Honda SVC will do.Originally posted by imtiaz12 View PostThank you VJ, this is really helpful. I will give it a last shot with an engine overhaul, and see how it turns out to be. Please let me know if there are any skillful, reliable CBR250 mechanics in Pune. Thanks.
You can place a pre-order if not available. Most SVCs don't stock basic parts, let alone stickers.Originally posted by ManasN95 View PostHello Guys,
Does anybody happen to have any links to any website/service centre who can provide the 2018 Honda CBR250R decals/stickering?
Please revert. TIA.
The same decals in the photo above. I have a black 2017 version CBR250R
Almost all of the decals on the CBR are sticker. It can be peeled away and the new one applied over. Though, it's easier said than done, it takes experience and the right heating paraphernalia to stick it without nicks, kinks and bubbles.
Cheers!

Spotted a fellow xBhpians CBR250R which has been converted to a CB250R.
It was a DIY project he undertook and the quality of work was just OEM like.

Brings to mind what could've been if Honda had actually launched the CB250R in India.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I have recently bought a pre-owned 2016 CBR250 ABS model with 31000kms on the odo.I had a Duke 200 for almost 4 years before this.
Following are my queries:
1.I stay in Chennai (OMR). Please suggest any good mechanic nearby.
2.Gearshift is not smooth.Clunky most of the time- i lubed chain 2days ago but still its clunky.
3.Some rattling noise around 4 to 5000rpm. It vanishes once i rev it a bit aggressively. Not sure if its rattling or engine related.
2 and 3 are major irritants when i drive in traffic as i tend to keep the bike around 4-5k rpm most of the time.
4.I have observed a burning smell after a long drive near silencer.
Bike has been serviced only last month and i know the owner personally. All the service are properly done in Honda service center so far.
Please provide your suggestions.Thank you.

2. In my personal opinion, always change at least the Engine Oil when you get a second hand motorcycle even though it has been serviced just one day ago.Originally posted by rock18 View PostI have recently bought a pre-owned 2016 CBR250 ABS model with 31000kms on the odo.I had a Duke 200 for almost 4 years before this.

Unless the owner was personally present during the oil change, do not trust the service centre to have changed the engine oil.
I myself have bought a second hand CBR which was just 900 KM's old (2017 version) but the oil was already dark amber in two days of service.
Motul 7100 and Shell Advanced Ultra are two very popular oils for CBR. I'm betting the clunky gear shifts would vanish on oil change. Also search threads here for Shell Rimula R4.
3. To start with, tighten all the possible nuts and bolts and check for any gaps in fairings.
If possible, check the condition of the brake oil, fork oil and coolant too.
Good luck. Before you climb Everest, you have to conquer the mountain inside your head.

Hi I'm also from Chennai and my answers are in Bold.Originally posted by rock18 View PostI have recently bought a pre-owned 2016 CBR250 ABS model with 31000kms on the odo.I had a Duke 200 for almost 4 years before this.

You have to go to either Didar Honda in Egmore (ask for Rajshekar or Giri ) and JSP Honda also good, I personally used Didar for almost 7 years now so that says everything. Also if you want small repairs done then KUN Honda in Adyar (Mechanic is Ramesh) is also ok.
2.Gearshift is not smooth.Clunky most of the time- i lubed chain 2days ago but still its clunky.
It could be because of bad clutch plates
3.Some rattling noise around 4 to 5000rpm. It vanishes once i rev it a bit aggressively. Not sure if its rattling or engine related.
Could be timing chain it may need adjustment and not a major issue.

No idea here

Hard gearshifts are caused due to lesser than adequate engine oil and not using the right engine oil grade. Use the right grade engine oil and the right engine oil level.
CBR does have mild ratting or stitching noise at around that exact RPM you've mentioned, that's how it is. Post that RPM she sings to her own tune, perfectly normal. One thing to keep in mind is that should shouldn't come when the bike is idling and throughout all RPM. If yes, then your shims need to be replaced.
The bike is has torque at higher RPM, though the bike is torquey, its gearing ratios makes it behave the way it does. She has to be revved a little and has to be kept in that 4.5 to 5k sweet spot to get the max juice. Post which, again I repeat, she sings to her own tune. Ride the R15 and you'll thank you CBR 10,000 times.
Burning smell is the caton, that's perfectly normal.
Cheers!

Thanks for replying. I checked the Engine oil condition and it Looks like HSC has not changed the oil at all.Originally posted by ManasN95 View Post

.
I changed the oil to Rimula R4 and there has been a considerable change in Engine refinement and gearshifts.
I drove around 100kms and overall happy with the bike post oil change.
Gearshifts are still slightly clunky, I guess i need to check the chain and sprocket condition or may be it will take some more time for the new oil to repair it.
I am not sure about till how many kms this oil can be used. i will switch to Shell ultra soon, after the cleansing process.
Thanks for replying. That really helped. If there is any chennai related FB page or whatsapp group. Please add meOriginally posted by Dandamudi Mohan Krishna View PostHi I'm also from Chennai and my answers are in Bold.

Thanks for replying. I have been using Duke for almost 4 years, so CBR250's throttle feels slightly less responsive till 6000rpm in comparison and the clunky gearshifts makes the city ride a little less enjoyable. I am expecting the gear shifts to improve after clocking few more kms, post the oil change.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostApart from point number one. I think i need to get used to the 5000rpm noise then.
Fun begins past 6000rpm, This is where the CBR comes into the game and its refinement level is top notch. Really enjoyed riding it.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The real fun of the bike starts post 5k, as you've mentioned. Gearshifts aren't clunky, they click and that's it, not grabby ones that gives one the sliding feel. I personally like the sliding feel of the gear lever which you can feel the cog moving and slotting in place. The Japs click like clockwork and it gets used to. The noise factor, don't think about it too much, ride the bike. If you ever come to a point the sound is excessive or not normal, do post a video of it.Originally posted by rock18 View PostThanks for replying. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Posting after a long time.
PREFACE : Jan 2016 I bought used CBR250R Repsol which had 21k on odo.
Today it stands at 49150kms on odo. Soon would be going to hills again on this gentle beast. Have regulary changed oil, earlier it was Shell Ultra, for last 2 times I have moved to Motul 7100 10w40.
During last oil change I guess the mech scrwed the oil filter gasket, due to which always had fw drops of leakage after every ride. Got new gasket day before yesterday.
Also got new clutch cable, probably the second change, stock one got kaput few months back.
Only issue I am facing is the braking, the calipers are not so good , have to source used better ones somehow.
Another things is I am unable to get the Repsol sticker from any of the honda showrooms.
In between had the issue of coolant leak due to broken gasket and pipe, which was sorted from svc.
Also the switch assembly is so pricey that I have to use seprate switch for headlight.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world

Apart from them, there are not really good mechanics around, either open up th purse or sell the vehicle. A hack job would cost more later on.Originally posted by yatishankar View Posthello fellow xbhpian in Bangalore.
