Wait, dont get to the conclusion about it.
1st let the oils & other things on the roads get properly washed away by the rain coz every vehicle ( even cars & heavy vehicles ) tends to skid in the starting period of monsoon .
Haila, what im doing in ownership thread. There's still a wait of couple of month for my bike.
but bro, its rains nearly every other day here since 2 weeks!!!so it wasnt the first rain today (maybe the 7th or 8th??)

Seems like many of you are facing engine knocking issue @ lower rpm. So why don't you refuel your bike with 97 octane as soon as it hit reserve & see how the engine behaves. I'm not sure but nothing wrong in trying isn't it.2005 HH Karizma [SOLD]

This may be due to the fact that fatter tyres tend to skid more in wet condition than the thinner tyres.Originally posted by AmlanR_CBR View PostAnother rain victim in less than 5 hrs!!

but in my case, it was the rear tyres that totally saved me (no abs for me) .while the front tyre skid to almost 45 degrees, my rear tyres didnt move an inch which helped maintain my stability...elz?? BOOOOM!!!

That's true.. the slipperiest time is when it *just* starts raining..Originally posted by ttusharz View Post@ all who are complaining about skidding problem with stock tyres.

Also, i don't know if this applies to CBRs since the stock tyres are continental but going through a few blogs and sites about high end gixxers and R1s, i learned that the tyres on those bikes have to be run in too.. usually a quick burn out does it..
although i'm not sure if that applies to CBRs.. maybe your tyre grip will get better with time..Get ready for the ride! 24 Hours on a Bike...

Re: Tyres for rain.
Tyres suitable for rain has more to do with the thread pattern than the rubber. If the tyre has less grooves, it will not disperse water effectively resulting in aquaplane. So even if the rubber is the best sticky compound, if it does not make contact with the the road, its useless. Less grooves excel in dry tarmac as there is more rubber coming in contact with the road (of course, in this scenario, the rubber compound matters a lot). So get tyres with lots of grooves that are designed to disperse water quickly during rainy season.

My first Impressions..
Its been more than a week now since I picked up my CBR, have covered around 117km on it since than and so, here's my initial impression:
- The gear shifter was set way too high and even the clip-ons were mis aligned. Sorted this out myself.
- There was too much free play on the throttle.. adjusted that myself.
- Bike has amazing street presence, you get second looks everywhere you go! Complete strangers walk up and strike up a conversation..... how much? Why so expensive? Indian or imported? New Hero Honda model? Mileage? Top Speed??
- When in traffic, stunned college students on their pulsars / FZs will follow you take long looks from every angle and then zoom past you in show of power! happened 2-3 times
- Exhaust note could use a little more bass
- Suspension feels too soft - specially the front.
- Engine gets pretty hot very quickly... and if in traffic, you can really feel the hot air blown by the radiator fan on your thighs... even with a pair of jeans on.
- You can start the engine and even get the bike moving with the Side Stand out. So be careful.
- Had a sore lower back and stiff neck after a 40km ride.. my longest yet on this bike. But short trips did not hassle me.
- Brakes are really good. Super smooth, progessive and firm at the same time...no tire lockups for me yet.
- Thankfully no scratches on my bike yet, so no negative comments on that from from my side.
- The spread, reach and intensity of the Headlight is superb. Makes night riding a pleasure.
- Power & Performance:
Took her up to the twisties for my first proper ride... and boy, was I impressed

Shot these with my cell phone
Haven't really ridden very hard and its still under break in, but the CBR250 is not a bike that will 'blow you away' with its performance, unless you are upgrading from a 100~125cc commuter.
Having ridden the RTR180 and P220 quite extensively, I found the CBRs performance very 'satisfying'
It's not sharp like the R15 at the peak top end, and also knocks badly below 3k rpm, quite unlike the P220 which has a great bottom end.
But, having said that, keep it between 4k to 8k... and its got some GREAT grunt here...any gear, any speed, just twist open the throttle, and it surges forward. Fast, effortless power, available in a very relaxed manner. And this is how I like to ride....never fails to leave a satisfying grin on my face
Just ordered this Tankpad at Planet DSG @1195 including shipping.. should be here by tomorrow.

@thefastestindian - That looks amazing! Even I was thinking of something like that. From where did you get the plain keys?
@Vicky - Thanks for the initial ride impression.
Regarding the engine heat, I guess once the run-in is completed, it should reduce.Sudeep P Nambiar

. "Hero Honda" Huh?
. Well, At least I already sat on it. Showroom guy offered me a test ride, I refused as I was going elsewhere. Anyway, when I got back on my Zma, it felt as though someone has ripped my bike of everything. It felt so empty..damn
. I was so certain I would book the first batch, but I had to prioritize my limited fund so . . . On the bright side, I might get one when all niggles are sorted out that are common to first batches.
