Ouch , just came back from a ride and even mine was a little brown there but i havent washed her from past 4 days so i hope its the dirt because the jeans grip that area, will just give it a wash and check because i think only we 2 have the all white shade here.

And dont be disheartened brother, have sent you a PM, have a look.

Okay i might sound foolish but where to look for engine oil level and coolant level - please

      Coolbay,

Engine oil level- you can check it on right hand side near the footrest. On the engine case which is inside the fairing, a small round glass fitted. Make the bike stand straight u can see the oil level.

Coolant level - Its under the rider seat.. a white color container.

        1) Initially I faced oil leakage problem, for which they had replaced the casing rubber which didn't work out so they have replaced the right side whole engine case.
        2) When I start up the engine and shift to 1st gear, starts moving slowly even holding the clutch completely... this i'm getting rectified tomorrow.
        3) And now started a new issue .... I haven't taken the pic so im taking ur pic as reference and highlighted the spot. That part has turned pale brown which was not there when i bought it. When i got it checked with the Pro-Biking person he clearly mentioned it is a seam welding problem.

from the pics it pretty sure ..could be welding issue... is petrol is leaking from there ... and don;t worry its nothing major of sort .. if proved ..all they just do is tank replacement... and these things will happen frequently with every manufacturer ..as these will come from 3rd party.

both make sure its an issue or ..something else ..as both of u pointing similar problem... check with other known GT owners

          Nagoo,

What coolboy has mentioned is some dirt on the tank which is there on mine too.. since it is a white one dirts are highlighted... need to use "Tide"

But my concern is, it has happened at the bottom end of tank where the welding has done turned pale brown. Expert indicated it is the initial phase.. i didnt notice the petrol leakage. Anyways will get it checked tomorrow.

          • Washing the GT and then giving it a wax polish that too with Turtle hard wax is a sin guys, it took me almost 2 hours to buff off the thing, was really worth it as its shining bright now.

A strange thing happened - after the wash, started it once and took it to a place where there was light, after waxing i started again and that dreaded FI light came on, started and FI showed on the console, i switched off and started again and then it was gone, rode a km but it didnt come on, hope it doesnt come on now, did the same happen to anyone else?

And mine doesnt have the brown pale at present, even if it is i think Garware would have to replace it as its their quality check fault if its happening due to heat or whatever it is.

            @ Patty_86
Thanks for the help buddy - would try it out in the morning to check the oil level, changing to Motul FS at first service. I find it to be the best oil available.

            @nagoo

No buddy i dont have that issue- no petrol is leaking, in fact mine gave 24 kmpl last time on the highway run.

Mel - Mine's going in for first service tomorrow, why to avoid full synth oil in 1st service?

Avoid Fully Synthetic engine oil as the engine needs time to fully breakin, piston rings and seals need to seat properly. All engine bearings and cylinders, etc. must wear evenly and proper.

                    • I will give in my first impressions here as promised before, would try to feed in all the details i can about various factors associated with the bike and jot down about everything in detail.

                      Engine and transmission
I wont get into the tech specs as you can all see them online. It is detuned for India and produces 73 bhp and around 60 NM of torque. This being a V twin engine is famous for its huge torque and also vibrations which i will get into later.

This has power way lower in the revv range, this is a torquier engine and even a slight twist of right wrist propels the bike forward. Me being a car guy and a owner of 220, controlling it for the initial stages was a lot tougher. Even in 1st gear the bike touches 30-40 kmph with ease. 100 km/h feels like a joke and the bike reaches triple digit speeds within the flick of an eye.

The power delivery is a little jerky, not so much as the reviews suggest, its jerky only in the 1st gear and afterwards the torque rush takes over. Havent revved it too much as its in run in phase - have opened it up only once, just opened the throttle and after 6K RPM things go blurry, reaction time gets finished and the feeling just cant be explained, the acceleration is mind blowing.

As for the transmission its a 6 speed, 1 down 5 up configuration and the gearshifts have been smooth for now. No issues on this front, after heating up a lot the bike does have some problem slotting into 2nd, it gets into neutral from first and then you revv like a fool

                      Braking ,Handling, Suspension
The front has twin discs with 6 callipers and the rear has a single disc set-up.
In short the brake feels is just superb, even with the front being so heavy the bike is composed and stable under hard braking. No complaints in this department, its superb.

I took it till a good 140-155 and the bike was steady as it could be and the wind blast wasnt as much, the time it took to reach those speeds was just so less.

Coming to handling - i havent leaned into corners much because am not entirely comfy with the bike till now, just some straightline runs and a few leans and i can say that on straightlines this thing is just so stable. 100-120 feel like 60-70 until you see the speedo and realize the speeds you are doing, due to its weight throwing it into corners is a little difficult but once done the huge rear tyre helps in gripping the roads well inspiring confidence.

The suspension - well i never really looked into this section carefully so i would reserve my comments for later. The bumps get transferred up and the wrist starts paining badly. Small potholes dont even make their presence felt thanks to the tyres and suspension.

                      Looks
I dont need to say more, she looks beautiful. On the road i have seen people still oggling at my bike even after the light turns green and a guy shouting from the car to stop me because he wanted to ask me "Where did i get my white ZMR modified from, mast lag rahi hai"

Its a looker indeed and the supersports seating and leaned position really attracts. Negative - you cant leave the bike alone at parking or people would molest it, have seen it myself.

NVH - Noise vibrations and harshness
The v twin sounds sweet with its rumble and atleast people wont say that this is poor exhaust note, whats there in it to be of 5 lakhs as all the want is Dhoom waali noise.

Coming to vibrations, this has been the most demanding topic and believe me is the most over hyped thing. Either the test bike was screwed or people expected R1 like refinement here. I have revved it till 8000 RPM in 3rd gear and i didnt feel vibrations to be so high that it could bother me, i had a pillion behind and he also said - No, what kind of vibrations so it speaks about it.

After 6000 RPM you wont even have time to feel the vibes, it just rockets past like a superbike should and all your senses are in front.

The harshness increases once the bike is in stop/go traffic and it heats up after an hour or so of running so maybe its due to the oil or what but i will get it checked with the mechanic.

                      After sales service
That was/is a big question mark with Garware and Hyosung but my experience has been pleasant as such till now. I had a issue with RVM's and some noise from tank and called the dealer, he didnt respond for 4 day so i mailed Garware people and within 12 hours i got a call and within 18 hours they sent a mechanic at my residence to replace the mirrors.

Mechanics coming to your home to correct/replace things speaks for the kind of service they want to provide and they are dedicated towards customer satisfaction. Its a long way to go but a good start.

Yeah bro, well but i thought all expensive cars and these quarter and litre class bikes used to come with fully synth oil from factory itself.

I dont find the oil in at present to be good, it loses its refinement once the bike has been running for 1 hour or so.

                      • Great review CoolBoy. Congratulations! I hope whatever little issues you have get sorted out soon.

I am to get the delivery on Monday, tomorrow, so I am pretty excited. I really dont think much about any of the problems reported in the numerous reviews of the bike, here and outside this site. Its all going to be worth it. I always say, whats a sportsbike experience without rider involvement at every level.

I want to ask this to all the proud GT owners. How does the tyre hold out on city roads and in wet conditions as I am going to be using this for mostly city riding and there is going to be a lot of rain, mud, slush and dirt on Bangalore roads. Do I need to change to tyres with muscles? Wet roads is very common here and I dont want to be riding such a beautiful bike wearing beautiful riding gear and be struggling for grip!
                        Please help!

Also if the more experienced guys on this site can help me with obtaining riding gear..I would really appreciate that. I tried Orion Motors, Cramster and Thirumala motors in Bangalore but they have limited stock and whatever they have is not practical for everyday city riding, most of the gear is for track days. I tried searching online but to no avail.

Thank you again to everybody here for this fantastic thread, its like an owners Bible! One can always come back here for info and real time problem discussion. Even otherwise, it makes for fantastic reading anyday!

                        Cheers!

The tyres so far have held out pretty well, i used them over slush and mud the very first day and it was no slip n skid by any measure. Yet to try over wet roads because i avoid riding a bike like GT on wet tarmac due to fear of going down and then cleaning this monster.

Over dry roads its gripping fantastically well, i would rate these Bridgestones fairly good. I dont think you need to change now, once they wear out which am sure they would like other superbikes - switch to something better would be my advise.

Thanks Bro. I have not been sleeping properly from the day I booked this bike. And even more so the last couple of days, waiting for Monday, the day I get my GT650R for real.
Glad to know your issues have all been taken care of and that the tyres offer pretty decent grip in city conditions.
