Well, nothing can be done about the pillion seat, maybe adding a little more padding, but odds are that it will look weird. Look wise it is perfect stock.
The R15 has a very linear power delivery, so the lower revs can get a little boring, moreover the bike likes to be revved, so it will be more fun in the higher revs.

I am in the market for a bike and currently own the humble gladiator. the problem is i cannot get my eyes off the thundering green R15. now can i join this club, will this bike suit me? i will be using this bike for commuting and occasional touring. I live in a rural part of country without much traffic and my wife will be the only pillion. Is there any tall members like me in this group? wish to get some honest replies, and happy riding.
IMO, considering your height and weight you are likely to find the R15 underpowered (considering your weight) and cramped. With your wife as riding pillion the 150cc motor will run out of steam. Also, because of the high seating position and absence of grab rails riding pillion on an r15 is a miserable experience.

Dude opt for a PULSAR 200 NS
It better for you in many ways...
Specially Pillion and daily city rides

The low end torque of R15 v2 is comparatively much better than R15 v1. So , I don't think that's a problem, even if you have a pillion, just twist the throttle a little more, that's what it is for . And the only major problem I see in your case in pillion seat. No worries other than that.
Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

I was eating my favorite KFC grill chicken when i read your post and got up washed hands to type a reply to you lol

First of all, the bike is not made for you its not that you are not fit for it, only you can decide that
But major concern will be pillion. Teejayy, our rider, had r15 v2, he has done numerous rides with his wife as pillion even as long as 600kms in a day. but after a certain level then pillion will start hating the rear seat. He wanted a more powerful bike and also comfortable seat, so opted for CBR250r. I respect that decision since he was very much convinced that CBR250r is perfect with power and pillion seat as well as city commute.

For your height, weight and also for pillion i will suggest CBR250r (ABS if you can manage the costs). You will be very happry with r15v2 riding alone. PERIOD. but pillion is biggest -ve point. This bike is meant for fun for rider. where as bikes like NS and CBR lets you share the FUN with pillion and you get to have only HALF fun

My verdict is a CBR250r for you.

PS: You look to be in love with R15 V2 so its hard to change that in your mind now
and gladi is a great bike!

                • Yeah Ron, I am in love with the R15, the thundering green. i am even in love with my fiat punto. maybe you will know what i mean, there is no honda or a bajaj which can beat a combination like yamaha and a fiat. If there is no R15 for me now, i will wait for yamaha to launch something for people like me.

No you don't need to drain the brake fluid, I had changed mine recently, it took less than 5 mins.

Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

If you are a die hard yamaha fan.. Then you have no options other than leaving your wife at home (just kidding ) or better take the punto if you take her.. Am saying bcz its not worth to wait as all future sports bike from yamaha will be like this.. Thats why they are called sports bike dude or as Ron said go for CBR 250R. You wont be disappointed anyway your choice

                      Cheers

if you want yamaha only then you might have to wait for longer then you can. i would suggest get a CBR250r if you are wanting to ride soon and then sell it and buy the 'bike that yamaha launches' or if its not a hurry then you will have to wait till 2014 end :/
