  • 1000 kms and first service report

    1000 kms report:

Got my bike on 22nd April and now its 10 days old with 1000 kms on ODO. First thing first, I was just dying to own this bike and I saved myself somehow LOL. I already knew I am not going to have big power upgrade as was already riding a brand new RTR 180 and its true that RTR 180's initial response was little sharper. The thing which I liked most in R15 is, it makes you run the bike under its limits as I used to take RTR to its limits very easily. Main reason behind this purchase was to have an overall package with following priorities.
    1. Liquid cooling : Air-cooled engines looses their steam after high speed long runs.
    2. Fuel Injection : To get the best out of the money went into my tank and to save my a*s from regular carb screwing by untrained mechanics.
    3. Race ready : Sitting upright and riding slow is not my cup of tea.
    4. Better tires : With the experience of TVS tires, I was bound to opt the best in business this time.
    5. Superb handling : Do I need to say anything.

The potential of this engine increases with revs rather then phasing out and stability at all the speeds is to be worshiped . Corners like if it runs on glue and stays smooth all the way to the redline which I missed all the time with RTRs for last 4 years. The term butter smooth is not right as it suites more to Honda engines but its smooth with a grunt and I said this in a good sense.

    Run-in:
0-500 kms : <=5k rpms with varying rpms whenever possible
500-1000 kms : <=7.5k rpms with some bursts up to 9k rpms

    Riding experience:
Its fabulous till now. Had a 370 kms ride under run-in. Riding stance is a bit on aggressiveside but thats the most beautiful aspect of riding this bike. Suspension absorbs the bumps very well and its awesome aerodynamics gives it more than required composure.

    Problems:
Got the bike with a leaky front tire from day-1. Was filling the tire everyday from past 10 days but today ASC manager swapped my front wheel with their testride R15's wheel and assured me to get my wheel/tire checked by tomorrow. Other than that its trouble free until now.

    Service Center experience :
Serviced my bike at Green Automobiles Faridabad. Reached their at 10 in the morning and my number was 19. They told me to collect the bike by 4:30 PM but to my surprise when I reached there around 4:20PM the bike was standing just washed-up. The mechanic working on my bike was quite lazy and was of the nature "Dont touch anything until it creates problem", hopefully I will stay away from him and will teach some lessons next time.

    Loved Yamaha Ray as well.

    • Had a great trip of just about 700kms in the past few days through Coorg, Mysore, Ooty and back home. There's no road from Coorg to Mysore Great offroad fun, the bike performed really great, had a top speed of 145kmph , no overheating apart from once the radiator fan kicking in all the bikes when taking the hair pins on 1st and 2nd gear. Apart from the CBR 150R giving some trouble with its chain and its coolant box going dry, the trip was fantastic. Some pics

Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

I really wonder how ppl manage 145 km/hr on v2. I followed run in , and my bike hits max 128 km/hr (single rider), takes long to reach their too that too with me crouched.
Well doesn`t matter to me much, i drive @ 60-85 km/hr. But still i wonder how dou guys do it .

Also my bike gives me 45-47 km/lt.

It all boils down to the rider, wind , inclination and many many other parameters. I have done 145kmph too, but with a tailwind and on a mild slope

First pic is really awesome and finishing a long tour without hick-ups always feel good. CBR150R is a nice bike without doubt but one compromise by company (read : Normal chain) gonna create problems.

redline the bike all the way through the first four gears, and shift to sixth only after you have crossed 124 kmph or so (speedo).
its not the bike, its down to rider skill.

Although you might see people in this forum doing 140+, please don't get tempted and try it on city limits.
Many of us have crossed 140+ many times and some of them even touched 150 on a little downhill. But all of these are on highways like Pune-B'lore, Pune-Solapur and all. Which have very good taramc and almost zero traffic and ofcourse with full riding gear.
Just a caution: Please Dont get tempted or even frustrated with 128 kmph, that's good enough.

What would be the expected price of an r15v2 considering the following facts:
-the current owner (2nd) bought it at 85000 without transferring any ownership except form 29 and 30
-banged into a bus, frontal impact, expecting fairing and headlight replacement. After the accident,he kept it in his garage.
-It is the first lot of the v2 when it was launched
Lots of work need to be done, wanna restore it and use it. How much can I expect/bargain?
                              Thanks in advance...

No idea why would you wanna go for it. but:
how many kms has it covered ? as per the description the engine would be in good condition i presume.
you said it was involved in an accident, so you dont know what all damages have been done at places that cant be seen just by looking at the bike.
since he had not transferred the bike to himself, technically its still a first hand bike (previous owners bike). i see a lot of "goolmaal" here be careful.

if i were you then i would go for new/few months old bike without accidents.
