I would assume that the light had come on later, as he's just noticed it, after returning from the incident, in which case he would need to have a proper look as to why the light is remaining on.Originally posted by xDa_nightfury View PostBeware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!

There is a sensor in the bike which switches off the engine when the bike is dropped. so that orange light is an indicator which means that this mechanism took place. so you will have to switch off the bike with the key and switch on it back, the ecu will go through the engine check and if everything is normal, you ll get no warning lights. so its very simple thing.Originally posted by Rohit Bhosle View PostGuys!!! need help...yday while returning from amby valley lonavla....my friend dropped my bike while cornering .....not much damages done...only the front brake lever got bent and i just observed that the orange light on the speedometer started showing up...i think its for overheating though not sure...can anybody just confirm why it started glowing....should i check for something more.....
If your bike did not start or if the warning light keeps on coming up then there is something wrong and without a delay or even before going home and posting here you will have to visit the SVC, because you will be doing lot of damage by wasting time and causing more harm to the bike then it can be.
Sid, the coolant level should be ANYWHERE between low and high mark. if its very close to the lower level then coolant top up is needed. the whole coolant oil should be changed at 10k KMS or 2 years.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostSeriously cant understand what you say
I have no warning lights but coolant level dropped. Cant I top up just like that?? And how do you remove thermostat and flush?? Btw where is thermostat

And is coolant level drop normal or got to check something?
if you wanna know the exact reading, then you will have to place the bike on a level surface, and hold on to it in upright position, if its tilt then it will show false reading. (this is what the manual says)
The coolant level should be checked on a cold engine since the level varies with engine temperature.
would really suggest you to go through the whole manual and every page. almost every info is available there
in detail.

Why would your antifreeze level keep dropping if there is no leak evidentOriginally posted by siddharthsure View PostGuys can coolant level drop in summer or after 3000km on odo?? If yes may i know why? I mean where would it go since there is no leak. After long time checked coolant level and its just above low. Need to top up but i need to know...
Cheers
a few reasons why you may have a drop is coolant levels. and also if the radiator cap isn't sealing the radiator well, there could be some vapors escaping at hot temperatures.
but again if the level is dropping at an alarming rate then you definitely have to get the entire cooling system checked. Why don't you top it up for now to near the max level, and then check periodically over a month and let us know how much is the drop. Top up on a cold engine, and report back the reading on a cold engine to get a near accurate reading.
Coolant is not 'oil', it is water with chemical additives.Originally posted by Ron Syl View Post
the whole coolant oil..

its better to use distilled water to flush the cooling system. stay away from 'bore' water at least!Originally posted by stefanm View Postwill remove the thermostat and flush the system with a hose pipe, then fill with new coolant.
drain the coolant and top up with distilled water and let the engine run for a minute or two and drain it out. repeat it again with another dose of distilled water if necessary.
And i hope you will be disposing off the coolant is a responsible way (you could give it back at svc - but i am not sure if they dispose it off properly)

in detail.Ron bro, I read the manual fully and that is how i checked. Its nearly at low level mark and visually no leaks anywhere and SID yeah will top up ASAP as it nearly low and will check if its dropping.. Distilled water is not required for flushing as only a trace will remain in the pipes after a full flush (and it would be a headache to pump distilled water through the cooling system), today I removed the side panel, fairings and tank to perform the flush as the reservoir was still full and the coolant less than 12 months old, I decided just to top up and bleed the system, it worked no air lock and no red light on the console. It's only coolant right, the active chemical will evaporate with the rest of the liquid, right?Originally posted by s1d View Postits better to use distilled water to flush the cooling system. stay away from 'bore' water at least!

Download the service manual if you haven't already, you'll find the one for the V1, it's technically the same scooter....Ooops motorcycle! Just if you top up, make sure you bleed the system, as follows top up, engine on (without the rad cap fitted) idle until the fan kicks in, then rev it a bit, add more coolant if required and put the rad cap back on, job done, go have a cold one! or a ride as per your preference.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostRon bro, I read the manual fully and that is how i checked. Its nearly at low level mark and visually no leaks anywhere and SID yeah will top up ASAP as it nearly low and will check if its dropping.. R15 is way too complicated than i thought!!! Downloaded the service manual and checked, cant understand a thing.Greek and Latin to me
It made me realize, its worth every penny i paid for it. Will stick to SVC for all works. Dont have the nuts to open a single thing in R15(Engineering Marvel)

Really not so complicated and remember it's a glorified scooter, with good handling, there are better engines in the same displacement range. Liquid cooling and fuel injection have been around for a long time. Trust me getting your hands dirty and understanding a few bits and pieces here and there will save you a few $$'s and is also rewarding, it will also help you from being a victim of an SVC or outside mechanic.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostWaaaa

you don't need nuts to open..on the contrary what you need is a wrench (to open the nuts)Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostDont have the nuts to open a single thing in R15(Engineering Marvel)
, i wud suggest you stick to the svc, befriend the mech and watch them work and ofcourse use some common sense and do a bit of manual reading and observe if things are being done as explained.
@stefanm , please read a bit (there is plenty on the web or maybe even on the back of the coolant container) on the harzards of 'engine coolant/antifreeze' before you think its just a chemical that evaporates.

Help Help Help
I was doing the month (per 500 km) maintenance yesterday. Used WD-40 for cheain clean, then i saw rust on the front disc plate , so i sprayed WD-40 on the front and rear disc brakes , how intelligent of me i know
. Then i left it for 15-20 mins. Traveled around 10kms to drop someone, on the way my cousin almost bumped it in to a car, i cursed him (slowly), but he was driving really slow and is very responsible, then on way back to home, i almost bumped it too. Then i realized my ride had almost no brakes
. Took it for presser washing. Came back home, lubed chain , polish etc. Then after 2-3 hours took it for a spin, again no brakes. Then though of coming to office today on bike, NO BRAKES. OMG , someone actually commented on me drive faster.
Please someone tell me wt actually happened and wt needs to be done to fix. Because brakes is the most impressive part about this bike and i was so proud of them, now i am only proud of my stupidty
.

If your lever is pressed completely then check for oil amount or leakage in the brake set up.Originally posted by himanshunegi1987 View PostHelp Help Help

BTW are both brakes not working or only single one?
Quickly go to SVC!

I have never really felt the rear brake being effective. It almost feels the same.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostIf your lever is pressed completely then check for oil amount or leakage in the brake set up.
