Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
1.8 litres of usable petrol. There would still be more, but not enough to br primed by the fuel pump which would then conk out due to overheating.Originally posted by Satyanshu View Post

Thank youOriginally posted by Satyanshu View Post1.8 lts to be excat as per yamaha engineer.
This figure only holds true if bike is in complete horizontal position. If bike is inclined forward (downhill) then F hits quite early, this observed by myself.

Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
That will involve you understanding the electrical engineering of bikes. You could run both the bulbs in parallel so light up for low and high beam.Originally posted by PallavZ View Posthey how do I make both the lights light up in low beam. The single bulb alone is not bright enough.plz help!

Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
my bike is nearing 11000 kms (and 21 months) so i am thinking of subjecting it to some basic internal checks/maintenance that have never been done on it so far in these 21 months...the manual suggests (for a 15000 kms or 1 yr old bike) too many things many of which i suppose are mentioned just for formality and sake of completeness in case of a truly screwed up bike and are not really required to be done normally (moreover the mechs at SVC won't do so many of them anyway), so can some of you guys suggest the standard internal parts to check ? i was thinking of checking the spark plug, fuel injector and maybe valve clearances...should i also tell them to do clutch and brake system overhauls (no problems in these as such) ?

Coolant should be replaced every 2 years.. Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
lets split that into 3 components, engine, steering and brakes.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Posti was thinking of checking the spark plug, fuel injector and maybe valve clearances...should i also tell them to do clutch and brake system overhauls (no problems in these as such) ?
First and foremost BRAKES:
If you don't feel sponginess, dont touch the system as mech will 95% ruin the feel after bleeding. If you feel little sponginess, tie up the levers in their engaged position overnight.
I assume you have topped up brake fluids on both masters and brake pads changed.
Second ENGINE:
Tappet settings are crucial, but what I have noticed is most bikes required at different times. Mine is always off by the time it hits 5k km. So get yours 'checked' first, if within the spec then dont mess with it as it has more chance of getting messed up than bleeding brakes.
Coolant as you have said is replaced or topped up in reservoir and radiator.
Get injectors cleaned and tested(probably not needed, can be skipped), there is a machine mentioned a few ages back that would most likely absent at your SVC. For injector cleaning you will have to jump it using an external source to actuate the solenoid valve and pump injector cleaners through them to clean up any collected residue.
For my peace of mind, I drain out and clean out the fuel tank too.(probably not needed, can be skipped)
If SVC is willing (which I am sure they wont be) then get that throttle body cleaned too, won't take too long. If you are getting injectors opened up then throttle body is just beside it.(probably not needed, can be skipped)
Spark plug replacement is you can shell out extra 100 or so, I didn't do it though, just cleaned and plugged back in.
Finally get all allen bolts, philips screws and engine bolt-nut pair tightened.
STEERING
Get coneset greased if it is never done. That would required front end overhaul, so change the fork oil too.
This is assuming that chain adjustment, sprocket changes, tyre changes and broken spares are changed if any and bike isn't dropped much but is toured hard and runs fine as of today, with start up on very first crank.
After this your ride will be almost as good as new. Happy servicing.

Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
Hello folks.
Really long post ahead. But a nice case study for all you experts out there. Will be waiting to hear your views and opinions.
First bitter experience with the bike. Was returning from class asusual yesterday morning with the engine warning light came up for no reason and refused to stop blinking. It was strange the bike cranked though , to be on the safer side i towed it to a nearby SVC who claimed it to be a loose connection. I rode the bike on his advice as the light had stopped blinking. After two kms , there was a long bleep and then it again did not turn on. This morning i put in the key and before i could crank the light had started blinking. Thank god i was able to take a video of it. I took the bike to the SVC he said it was fault code 46 but the FID tool was not showing any problems. He wanted me to leave the bike overnight so that he could check it tomorrow morning. I decided to give them the bike today evening and started to my house. alas. again the lights came on. The mech told me to wait while the engine cooled down... They fiddled with the tool after sometime , he asked me if i had dropped the bike sometime back. and yes i had dropped the bike like 2 months back. They opined that the ECU had recorded it in its memory and that was causing the problem. But they had also replaced the started motor because the video indicated towards fault code - 46 . I have the bike now and its absolutely fine. No issues. But have to ride this afternoon for around 30 kms and check if everything is fine. NOTE - ALL THIS ON A 6000 KM OLD BIKE. Where is all the yamaha quality assuarance gone... faulty part replaced free of cost. experts please pour in your views..... please aso have a look at the attached video

Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
brake pads havent been changed, still much life left in them (odo is only 11000 kms) despite the hard use of the front..fluids on both were topped up when the bike was one year old (3000 kms ago)..Originally posted by Tanmay26 View PostIf you don't feel sponginess, dont touch the system as mech will 95% ruin the feel after bleeding. i dont feel any noticeable sponginess in the brakes..however, if and when i do, just tying the levers in their engaged position for a night will do the job without explicitly bleeding them? interesting trick.
conesets were replaced few months ago because they had corroded and worn out and made the front end behaviour at low and moderate speeds horrible...the whole front was disassembled for the purpose but i dont remember the mechanic changing the fork oil though...Originally posted by Tanmay26 View PostGet coneset greased if it is never done. except once in a long while, the bike starts up at first crank...
sprockets and tyres dont seem to require changing yet, seem to have a lot of life left yet (odo just 11000 kms despite the hard usage)..
will also then tell them to check the throttle body in addition to fuel injectors...about tappets, they seem to have been a bit loose (but not much seemingly by the sound of it) for a long time now but since i have read many times here and there that loose tappets arent really a bad thing except for possibly giving a lesser mileage i havent really bothered with getting them tight...probably i must ?
thanks for the detailed reply. :-)Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 03-31-2015, 08:50 PM.

Yes actually the theory is simple, If lever is engaged, the system is pressurised. In a pressurised system the air will rise to the top of the system up near the master piston which as released in morning, disengages and air escapes from inlet port. Quite popular trick when I started practising stunt riding, once in a while you drop the bike, lever gets pressed and air is pumped into system from inlet as bike is laid over, just tie the lever and forget it. Works for only small amount of air though.
i dont remember the mechanic changing the fork oil though
fork oil can be skipped but do get it done after 20k. Damping is important afterall.
will also then tell them to check the throttle body in addition to fuel injectors
Get atleast injectors jumped and cleaned.

It would take horribly loose tappet to decrease the mileage, it would rattle like hell though. Tappets are skill demanding though, so high chance of SVC monkey to mess up. Remember though, tappy valves are always happy valves.
thanks for the detailed reply. :-)
Always happy to help

Re: Can Daytona on R15 V.20 will match the power of KTM RC 200 ?
thanks tanmay for the tips...will go to SVC later this week. however i went there today just to buy an oil filter, so chatted with one of the mechs i know there about all this, he said unless there's significant startup problems there's no need to clean the FIs (or check the throttle body) which costs apparently rs500 even if it turns out all fine. he said such a thing is usually done post 25000 kms unless there are startup problems..couldnt tell if he was being sincere (unlikely) trying to save my money or not..is that true ? i thought among all the millions of things the manual says FIs would be among the minimal things that should really be checked at 12000/15000 kms or so..he suggested just changing spark plug and air filter and that's it lol.

Cleaning and checking of Fuel Injectors cost ₹250 at svc. I did the same last month and bike now feels much smoother. Did this for the first time in 2 years.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postthanks tanmay for the tips...will go to SVC later this week. however i went there today just to buy an oil filter, so chatted with one of the mechs i know there about all this, he said unless there's significant startup problems there's no need to clean the FIs (or check the throttle body) which costs apparently rs500 even if it turns out all fine. he said such a thing is usually done post 25000 kms unless there are startup problems..couldnt tell if he was being sincere (unlikely) trying to save my money or not..is that true ? i thought among all the millions of things the manual says FIs would be among the minimal things that should really be checked at 12000/15000 kms or so..he suggested just changing spark plug and air filter and that's it lol.
