you'll probably soon start feeling weird uncomfortable feeling and behaviour from the bike's front area (handlebar, etc ) at low speeds (<40 kmph or so), if it's not already being felt...however, for obvious reasons, at high speeds nothing will be felt and everything will behave normal despite the weird low speed behaviour..

Re: Yamaha YZF R15 maintenance checklist
most likely your bike's conesets and ball racers need greasing and re-adjustment, or maybe even replacement.Originally posted by rajat.kabade View Post

Re: Yamaha YZF R15 maintenance checklist
Has any of you guys ever heard about stunt cage or something for r15?
What is your best bet for bike protection except not dropping it?
Asking because I just dropped it few days back, ended up with scratch at some places
nothing broken though.

I visited Yamaha Factory shop. The guy adjusted handle free play, it is back to normal now!Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postmost likely your bike's conesets and ball racers need greasing and re-adjustment, or maybe even replacement.

Re: Yamaha YZF R15 maintenance checklist
i assume he probably did that by doing something something at the area around and below the handlebar joint ? that's where one of the two ball racers and conesets are located.Originally posted by rajat.kabade View PostI visited Yamaha Factory shop. the problem's likely to return back after a few hundred or so kms if the main problem is significant rusting (due to lack of regular greasing or something) on the conesets and/or ball racers...in which case they'll have to open the thing up and either grease it if there's not too much corrosion, or replace it if it's too much...your case sounds like the former possibility because your issue was relatively minor to begin with fortunately. :-)Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 02-19-2015, 06:41 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF R15 maintenance checklist
Hi All,
Front rim of my bike is bent. Can it be fixed or will I have to buy a new rim?
I was travelling at around 100-110 and there was a huge pot hole and I could not dodge it. Now one side of the rim is bent at one place. I hope it can be repaired.
thanks in advance.Last edited by akshay059; 02-20-2015, 01:58 AM.

I was curious too about your question.Originally posted by akshay059 View PostHi All,

Google it, this guy nailed it.
The search engine that helps you find exactly what you're looking for. Find the most relevant information, video, images, and answers from all across the Web.
I am not sure if it will hold the strength as stock. It will be okay for normal riding conditions, but stunts, potholes, hard braking etc.. etc... would be pushing it to limit.
Its your call now.

Yeah no one makes those for r15 either. I have welded a nut to side and put up a motorcycle axle into the threads. Protects most of time but last crash, it broke. Actually I didn't made the weld very strong, I made it to take up impact but not disperse it over chassis. Did its job but will have to weld again.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostFrame sliders.
Crash cages on the other hand use 3-4 mount points and are very large truss like structures which I think will be more long lasting and way safer for chassis.

Re: Yamaha YZF R15 maintenance checklist
It's always safe to get a new rim, any kind of repair works on alloys makes it weaker and prone to more damage, which in cases like bikes can prove to be too risky.Originally posted by akshay059 View PostHi All,

thanks in advance.Ya for bikes, Strictly No. And for your riding style, better go for a new one. If you repair it and next time same thing happens at 100+ kmph, don't expect your rim to be in one piece. Imagine the damage it would cause to you and your bike..Originally posted by krish2778 View PostIt's always safe to get a new rim, any kind of repair works on alloys makes it weaker and prone to more damage, which in cases like bikes can prove to be too risky.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hey guys I would be getting the r15 in a week now. Can someone tell me what all I need to check when I take the delivery? Also I'm in a dilemma whether to leave my bike in yamaha svc as I have had a lot of issues with them previously. I know a mechanic who is very good and have been going to him from 4 years. But I don't think he has experience in ecu bikes. So what all would I be losing if I don't leave my bike to the yamaha svc right from the first service apart from the warranty issue. Thanks in advance.

.Its mandatory for the bikes to be serviced by the SVC to avail the warranty. After the warranty period is over, you can service the bike locally.
As far as per delivery is concerned check for fault in paint jobs, lighting, bends in radiator fins, check tyre for wear and tear.A common problem I heard was the rear number plate module not in alignment and misaligned handlebar. Most important check odo reading it should not be more than 10Km.If they allow,go throug the PDI(pre-delivery inspection) check list.
