it has done just 9,000 kms n recently i drove my new rc390 n felt the brakes on them to be waaay powerful so i rode my friends r15 n found the same, the brakes on my r15 are only powerful but they dont gige that sudden jerk when applied.
Check the pads, fluid and the brake lines. If it was locked up you might to change the rubber brake lines. The brakes of R15 are really good. I haven't been on the KTM so can't compare.

Also if you have just completed your 10th , do you have a valid license?

R15's brakes don't have a strong initial bite (beginner friendly?) but they are very progressive (excellent for trail braking) and have good stopping power. Of course, I don't speak for the R15 u got, because that one's gonna need a complete overhaul.

Does anyone know if there are going to be any changes in the 2015 version(assuming there will be one).

well my bikes brakes arent so powerful now especially the front. So is it te brake pads or the brake fluid that need to change
. And one more thing its been 5 years n didnt change the fluid or disk pad
If your brake pads aren't worn out then sanding them would work fine. This would improve the gripping power.
Bleed your brake lines completely and refill with new oil. This shall rid the brake lever of the sponginess.

I asked them to change my oil filter cause it has done more 10,000 kms n they were like no need, when u come for your oil chnage then we will do it. I told them i had done it last week n then they were like come again when u need to change the oil and then we will change it
the. I ask them about changing the brake dluid n they were like y.. Its there na. I explained to them that it has been over 5 years since the brake fluid has been changed and in fact it has never been change. He was like c the brake ver isnt freely moving or easily brakin and hence you dont need to change it

So you mean to say you have been riding on the same oil filter for 10k kms ? Man, the oil filter have to be changed everytime the engine oil is changed. Its a good practice to follow.

                  Get it changed soon.

                  Ride safe and have fun.

It's not just the brake fluid, the hose and piston seals will need to be replaced too. Also, the pistons and the master cylinder internals will need to inspected. For example, brake fluid is hygroscopic, so over time the water absorbed could cause corrosion. Frankly, I'd just get a new caliper kit and replace any other parts as needed. Oil filter costs almost nothing... just tell 'em to change it. (BTW, all this advice is coming from a person who's never wrenched a bolt on a bike.)

Hey Guys, My Bike is now at 17500 kms. Everything is being well maintained and serviced but I do have a small query. At the beginning at around 100 - 1000kms on the odo, I used to shift the gears at 3.5k rpm and after a while I felt that the bike wasn't rev happy and started shifting at 4k rpm and after clocking around 10000kms on the odo, the bike wasn't rev happy even at 4k rpm and till now i've been shifting each gears at 4.5k rpm. Fine, recently the bike seems to be struggling even at 4.5k rpm (The way it happens is like when you ride at low rpm's in a higher gear and accelerate suddenly, The engine stuggles to rev freely until it reaches the optimum powerband) I'm a bit worried about this since my friend's V1 and V2 rev happily even during shifts at 3k rpm and is best at 4k rpm. I've never abused the bike till now. I've been only various long distance touring and that too by driving at speeds around 75 to 85kph. Thanks to this, the rear tyre alone has 12 punctures and the front has nil. The tyre pressures are fine, Chain slack is correct, Engine oil, Oil Filter, Air filter, Brake Fluid, Disk Pads, Coolant etc all have been replaced and taken care of. The only thing that I havent inspected is the Spark Plug. Any clue on what could be causing the Engine to stutter at 4.5k rpm? It is smooth and perfect right from 5k rpm till 9k, haven't taken beyond though. I'm worried about this issue since the bike wasn't like this a year ago. Owners please shed some light on this!

Shifting at 4.5k RPM till now?? Dude you haven't seen what R15 is till now. Even during Run-in i shifted at 5k except 1st gear and now shifts at 7k + RPM every time. Try it and youll never go lower rpms.. And even mine struggles to ride at 4k rpm from 2nd gear (it will feel like fuelling is not proper)... But thats how R15 is made i guess. It loves to stay above 5 all the times which is irritating sometimes in small streets. So i prefer discover for local streets and R15 for blasting on highways or good roads

Well, During group rides I do shift each gear at 7k+ rpm and that does feel awesome though. But remember I mentioned earlier that my bike was doing all okay while shifting at 4.5k rpm. I'm wondering why that is gone now!

If it is the higher gears you are talking about.. It happens in all R15s.. Because the 5th and 6th gears are overdrive.. My bike accelerating form 3k rpm in 6th gear is slower than a splendor accelerating from same speed until it reaches about 60kph..
May be it could be in your head, you got used to shifting at 4.5k rpm, initially if felt good now as u get used to it feels slow.. Ride with your friend on R15 side be side, accelerate from same speed and check if yours falls behind..

I'll try a 6th gear roll-on with my friend and update here soon. Hope that would help.

Hi folks, there is a slight amount of tightness in the handle play of my R15. It moves freely except when it is center position. When I tried turning it all the way from left to right and right to left with center stand on, it gets stuck in center position. There is no problem in riding experience or stability at high speeds. Any idea what could be the culprit?
