    Exactly.
try running mine at 5k rpm and it yields 35 hardly.
2014 ones are going to compete in efficiency category too.

Wow[emoji33] ! I own a 2013 Special Edition, with no O2 sensor and the max I achieved was 580kms in exactly 12 litres of fuel and the reserve indicator was at F-75.5. So that's nearly 48kmpl. 100% usage on the highways at 75kph/ 5k rpm. Chennai-Bangalore-Chennai. No fun though[emoji29] .

Are there any safety accessories available like frame sliders or fork protectors for the R15? If anyone could provide any links i would be very grateful

        Thanks
Haven't heard of any. I had also enquired initially but got the reply as that the side panels are cheaper than frame sliders. Don't know about fork protectors though.

Any idea about the price of the side panels?

Try spraying WD-40, then chain lube in the key hole.

You can do the above, I had the same issue with my tank lock which was closed for 6 months, I used a dry lubricant down the key hole, was free as a bird the next day, be a little patient and it will get sorted, it's a common problem with motorcycles, I had the same issue with my car ignition lock last week, the same procedure sorted it.

Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !

I do take a very good care of my bike. I've never pressure washed it, always kept it covered, Washed it once a month with Motomax products even if its kept unused for the next month, Besides I've only used it for weekend rides and on holidays as a result it just has 3800 km on it's odo. Besides the paint chip off issues the bike still shines brand new. I'm not boasting myself but whenever I ride it people ask me whether it is straight out of the showroom and find it hard to believe it's a year old.

I've also checked with people having this same variant of this bike and they also said they are facing this issue. I've also read this whole thread and came to know that this issue is also common with guys having 50th annivarsy edition. I don't know what to do now, the paint issue seems to be a huge nightmare now.

Had hopes too high and was dis-appointed by looking at these issue. But now the panels seems to be fine. Sigh.

How can it NOT be a quality issue? alloy paint should not chip off no matter how much you rip the bike, or many other variables. I own a Honda for the past decade and this issue has never cropped up despite thousands of kms under its belt. It IS a quality issue and I am going to make Yamaha acknowledge it. A long term R15 owners words like these don't make sense to us!

there very probably exists somewhere some other owner of your honda bike (whose alloy paint has never chipped off) who experienced this in his bike when it was just a few hundred kms old. what would you say to him if he attributes it to honda's low manufacturing quality/standard despite it probably being one of the very few such cases ? :-)

it's a different issue if the actual alloy/rims are getting bent or broken or something physical like that by itself. that is truly a manufacturing issue (and a serious one at that). although, again, if it's happening in a few handful of bikes out of thousands, it's not a general characteristic of the company's manufacturing quality...there's a tiny error bar in everything, even the best of things.

also, any paint chipping off or not has nothing to do with how much one rips the bike or not.

in any case, you said yamaha has simply agreed to rectify it, so relax and let's hope it wont happen again and again.

also, i am not a long term owner of yamaha/R15/bikes in general...it's my first bike and it's only 18 months old.

the way i understand, the quality (of a bike, but in general of any complex machine) is to be determined from how much the bike is deteriorating in performance and reliability/durability (of the various components) under rough and tough use of it over a very prolonged time period..this is something in which (apparently) honda, yamaha etc excel in general, and R15 in particular as evidenced from my experience of (only) 18 months and apparently hundreds/thousands of others (including myself) who have ripped it in all kinds of ways in various conditions over long periods of time (with little to no issues) under only a basic maintenance:-)

that's not to say there's never been any issue with my bike that happened much sooner than it was supposed to...for instance, my bike's coneset and ball racer sets were majorly rusted/corroded at just over 7000 kms (despite me living in a relatively dry place) and i had to shell out Rs 3000 to replace it all with new ones..there are people whose R15s conesets and racer sets havent corroded (enough to be noticed/felt) in over 20,30k kms of use...but then i also know it was just bad luck of mine that my bike was one of the few ones out of thousands in which this actually bothering shit (handle stability at low speeds had become horrible and really bothering/insecure, it just had too much transverse play under 40-50kmph) happened so soon...shit happens once in a while mate.

Can a faulty speed sensor trigger engine warning light?
My bikes speed sensor is broken, it shows zero sometimes and proper reading sometimes.
When I accelerate hard when its displaying zero, engine light comes on.. Once the speedo comes back on the light goes off..

I agree with you good sir, it happens once in a while, but when it happens once too soon it does bother you! Especially when you haven't ridden the bike enough. Component quality is always a trade off between riding circumstances and of course the quality of plastic used. Anyways, I had a great chat with the SVC and they have decided to observe it for a while. If the paint does begin to chip off sooner or later, they shall replace the alloy with a new one. They have always been prompt at getting things sorted and I like Yamaha for this. Very unlike Honda who are ever so fussy! Kudos, Yamaha.

                                hi guys,
its been a long time since i last posted as i had exams... Now, since exams are over i wanna do something for myself(maybe).
i have been thinking of installing led lights inside the fairing of the bike,( can do that easily )
my question is how do i connect the wires of the lights so that it turns on when i switch on headlights. or u could say lisence plate light as it turns on when i turn on headlight. or tale light which also glows up by switching on headlights. (now when breaks)

my old Suzuki Gs150R had a tale light switch under the seat, so i just put the 2 wires in it and i got em running. but i cant find a tale light switch in this bike.

A help would be deeply appreciated. Will post pic once i got em running..

And this is how my Gs150R lookedClick image for larger version
