    Hey sudhi ,

I bought the Duke 200 a week back and so far my exp with the duke has been very good .

There is only one dealer in bangalore for KTM that is Khivraj motors they have the KTM showroom on 100ft road indiranagar and the delivery would happen at thier bajaj showroom down the road . The delivery exp was not upto to the mark for a premium product like the KTM.

There are two service stations one is Khivraj on 100ft road indiranagar and the other one is Auto Service near monotype . Heard lotta good things about Auto Service apparently they are very good and much better than Khivraj i will be giving my duke for first service with Auto Service.

      Hello Sudhi,

I bought my Duke a little over a month and so far there have been no major issues, IMHO the Duke is VFM and you will not be disappointed.

Let me list out a few of the common issues you will face, and if you can live with it then buy it

      1) Gets super dirty as soon as you take it out in the rain, the rear tire hugger does not really do a very good job and you and the pillion will be covered in a fine spray of muck
2)Filling the fuel to the brim will leave the smell of fuel when you ride, I usually fill a little less than full to avoid the issue
      3) Indicators tend to fog up, in my case they were replaced promptly
4)The front mud guard is extremely small and you will find your radiator covered in mud and cleaning it is a pain in the wrong place
5)The pillion seat is non existent, a girl with a small frame can fit at most, long rides with the pillion are a no no
6)The front number plate cuts into the high beam a little, I have taken it off and put a sticker on the mud guard
7)Riding at high RPMs for a long duration tends to leave the header pipe discolored
8)Small bits of paint chip off from the rear mono shock, they SVC has said they will replace if it gets worse
9)Your bike will be fiddled with in the parking, before you get on a mandatory check of all switches, caps and hoses is recommended
      10) The exhaust tends to cook the pillions legs, if they are not wearing riding pants

These are minuscule and there are even more minuscule issues that I can point out but then that would be nit picking. I can live with what I have mentioned above.

I have covered a little over 3000kms since I have got it and I spent a good 2000 of those on the highway, it is very capable and if you take the care to set it up right you should not have any major issues...

Yes it comes from somewhere around the console area and is very annoying. Bike due for service next week, if it stays around will ask them to check (hope they can help). I have noticed it after a long spell of rains and if the bike has been in the rain, dont know how to connect it though .

The indicator lamps look fine, when tapping on them the done give any sound, so kind of ruled out. Thanks anyways.

Although I haven't used a sealant personally, I do not think it should be a problem.

A word of advice, be careful about which sealant you use. Some tend to form lumps if the bike left stationary for more than a couple of days.

The sound is like krrr krrr and comes are around 3-4k rpm range. To help understand the sound, it sounds similar to what we hear when we spark two electrodes but with a metallic tone. It started after the recent heavy rains.
If anyone has faced this or can help me pin point would be helpful.
PS: the brake liners / disc are not making noise so that is ruled out.

Its the fuel tank key lid. I had a similar sound few weeks back, turned out that, the metal lid was vibrating. The best solution is to put a drop of oil.though mine stopped without putting oil.( magic!)

Yes it usually goes off without doing anything, but for me it goes off after i wash the bike, so it confuses me as to where it is coming from, anyways thanks for the tip.

                    • Just posting this to clear a thing.[Actually, I own a R15.] When the Duke is accelerated, there is a whistling or whooshing sound coming from below. Is that what they call it the 'intake' sound?

                      Comment

                      • Some panga (problem) with the accelerator.

The acceleration tends to stay longer than normal even if the throttle is at point zero.

Moreover, when the handle is on left side, the RPM tends to increase a bit even without accelerating.

                        • You have to screw/unscrew a bolt below the accelerator. There is a way for tuning it in the manual. That should help.

I havn't understood this thing so posting it again- "why my duke doesn't go beyond 9500 rpm mark? It just cuts off there and remains there"

Your throttle cable is getting stuck somewhere. Check out at SVC

Oh... I should've seen this yesterday. I could have tried it back home... I'll be going to Ghatkopar SVC directly from office now. But thank you for this... It might help some1 else later.

I doubt if the cable is getting stuck. There is this part on the left side of the engine which is connected to the accelerator. That part is moving properly. I'll be going to Ghatkopar SVC today for the same issue.

                              • Having start problems with my duke after water wash and in rains.

                                Current odo reading : 7712kms.

I have given my bike 3 times to a local water wash for water washing. I have myself monitored and told the guy to spray water from distance. But still each time the bike wont start at all for 10-15 minutes. It only starts up after water has dried up or after engine gets heated up enough.

I wasnt that annoyed for bike not getting started for 10-15 minutes after water wash as i could w8 for that much time. But last weekend there was a downpour while i was at a restaurant. The bike got washed itself in rain.
But the bike refused to start at that time. That was the time i realized that its a serious issue and needs to be checked with SVC. But once the bike dries up there is no problem at all. As if somewhere the electricals are getting affected. although i have travelled in rains many times but this was first time i encountered starting problems in rains.

Will be heading soon to SVC for this.
