Maybe you need to figure out the reason behind lack of confidence, is it due to less tire grip or something else(technique), the stock MRF's are hard compound and once for technique you can refer Keith code books

Re: KTM 200 Duke
I guess you need more practice cornering. The tire pressures you run are ok.. I run 28/32 considering my incredible 'bulk' !Originally posted by Shourya014 View PostWhat tyre pressure do you feel correct for cornering... I go for 30 rear and 25 front..?? Any good options from someone's experience
You should practice throttle control, counter-steering and braking.. as someone mentioned, do read or rather watch keith's tips, especially the counter steering and 'looking where you want to go'.. that alone will improve your cornering confidence by a good margin. The duke being a bike with an upright riding stance, it would behave differently from say a r15.. just practice practice practice..

I have used both these tires extensively.. the stock mrf's are softer compound (and flex a bit more) compared to the michelins. Try using a key or your fingernail to poke the tire and you will easily see the difference.Originally posted by Suraj200 View PostMaybe you need to figure out the reason behind lack of confidence, is it due to less tire grip or something else(technique), the stock MRF's are hard compound and once for technique you can refer Keith code books

Re: KTM 200 Duke
When ever I apply brakes past 2 to 3 days bike is skidding especially the rear brake. If I am going in 60 or 70 and if I want to slow down to say 10km how do I do it without skidding or locking the tyres.
I am not getting enough confidence just because they are skidding . Once I saw a speed breaker out of no where had to bring down the speed from 80km/h bike fish tailed like hell some how I got control of it but I was super panicked.
I tried to explain my situation here hope u guys understand.
I am having the bike past 3 months it's due for 2nd service.
I was fine from first but recently past a week they are just not giving me peace of mind about skidding in panicky braking.
Please shed some light here.

Try using both brakes at a time and not to hit the brakes harder... Just click it slowly.. The brakes are progressive you just need to change your braking style

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys, I am having a problem with my duke 200. Yesterday, my headlight stopped working suddenly after I stopped for some 15 mins. It was working fine until then, the high beam flasher was working fine but the headlamp and pilot lamp weren't working. Today, I tried again the pilot lamp wasn't working after switching on the ignition but both pilot and headlamp were working on starting the engine. My bike is 1year old and has done around 9k kms. Any suggestions if its the battery or some fuse

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Give those fuses a check and also unplug the headlight and pilot lamp wires and try pluging them back and also check with a multimeter that you are getting at least 12.7 v from the batteryOriginally posted by Vishal_G View PostGuys, I am having a problem with my duke 200. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Guys,
After the tyre change, when I leave the handle bar, the bike steers a little bit towards the right side. I got the cone set checked too... everything is fine. Also, i found out the after putting new tyres we need to do the wheel alignment. So, can any help me here with this info.
Also, if anyone knows any shops where they do Wheel alignment for bikes in Bangalore please let me know. Even if it is in Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai let me know I will drive by there and get it done

I have seen a few folks as well as myself who have changed tires, but never balanced or did any special alignment due to lack of facilities.Originally posted by jeshurun99 View PostAfter the tyre change, when I leave the handle bar, the bike steers a little bit towards the right side. If it happens at low speeds, say around 10~25kmph (and you slow down when you take your hands off) , i guess its normal and nothing to worry about.
The first thing that you need to check is if the chain is adjusted correctly. Check both sides to see if the markings are the same..
If the wheels were removed and refitted at a local tire shop, then i suggest you have them removed and put back at the svc making sure they dont over tighten the axle bolts, and get the chain adjusted.
For alignment of motorcycle wheels, unfortunately it cannot be done like on a car.. the alignment can be checked using a simple piece of string, and there are a couple of methods. Here is one:
How To Check Front and Rear Motorcycle Wheel Alignment | MC GARAGE Tech Tips
The wheels though can be balanced (which is different from alignment), good luck finding someone who can do it correctly. I'd rather leave it as is (unless it bent or damaged due to accident).
You can get it statically balanced on one of those stands that cycle shops use. I've seen local wheel repair guys do it on bent alloys but i wouldn't suggest it on a normal alloy rim that isn't damaged. It could do more harm than good.

In less than 25kmph it does it...i don't mind it. I tried it around 60kmph... and i felt that bike wants to go right... if I put some pressure on left it goes straight then.
Actually, I got the tyres replaced first by a local guy. And, it was steering right uncontrollably. So, the next day i went to service.. did my regular paid service and got new clutch plates and chain sprocket set too. At that time I got both the wheels removed and greased and fitted it up... And also told them to check the cone set too... After that it is much better.... but not like that as it used to be with the stock tyres. So, only I asked it here.
I will read through MC Garage tips and do them.
Thank you Buddy for the speedy reply..
