I disagree with you on this point. I had discussion on this point with some auto-editors also. They say the ZMR has the most accurate speedo-meter and the pulsars esp P220 also has close to accurate speedo. Probably Europeans would be accurate but the same cannot be generalised about Japs esp Yamaha. The R15V2 has been known to have the most exaggerated speedo on any bike in India. Can you pls provide link to support your this point?Originally posted by aargee View PostLast edited by Enthusiastic; 03-20-2012, 06:45 AM.Whats there in a signature?

I didn't understand Your post. Do You recommend to do it by ourselves or do You tell us to do it with PBK guys?Originally posted by antz.bin View PostIf I have to spend that money for DIY cleaning, I would rather pay the exact same amount to PBK and get it done rather than getting my own hands dirty. I know you all can afford it since it is just 80 bucks but I would rather spend it on a liter of Petrol
.
Can the motocool coolant from Motul be used on Duke? Its a premixed one. Its available at Yamaha authorized dealers.Originally posted by L.P. View PostTell me something more about changing the coolant to better version

The initial batch of P220 Fi (with black tachometer background back in 2007) were amongst the most accurate speedos. Since then, there has been a 7.3% speedo error in all P220s.Originally posted by Enthusiastic View PostI disagree with you on this point. I had discussion on this point with some auto-editors also. @Duke owners: Please use GPS on your phones to check if there is any speedo error on the Duke speedo and put this issue to rest. You can use realtime apps like GPS Speedo if with pillion or GPS Tracker app if doing it solo.
If using Tracker, just remember the highest speedo read during a particular ride and compare the same with the GPS tracking results. You will easily get your error percentage.
If you are doing it DIY like Aargee has detailed here, you spend the same amount of money as someone else doing it for you (at PBK). Especially considering the amount of care that needs to be taken when doing such things. Believe me when I tell you that fellow xBHPians have got their fingers crushed between the chain and sprocket when doing this exact routine. eg.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostI didn't understand Your post. So, my point was, save yourself the trouble and make someone else do it. Or else, I have given a cheaper and less messy but almost as effective method on which you will probably spend 800-1000 in the entire life of a chain.Originally posted by indian07_blood View PostGuys, I was cleaning the chain in 1st gear holding a cloth lightly over it. I was asking my mum for a tooth brush so that it becomes easier , but suddenly my friend came from behind and called my name I turned and my finger crushed between the sprocket and chain. Gosh, I was like i lost my finger the engine stopped and i slowly engaged gear to neutral and rotated the tyre in reverse just to see my finger is fully crushed with two holes in it. I rushed to a locasl hospital where they said if the blood does'nt start to flow in the upper part then we can't do nothing. I was so angry with them and mum started crying. Then i rushed to best known hospital in delhi "Sir Ganga Ram" where they said i'll require plastic surgery. They did it and now i am fine. Still can't do much with right hand. Just want you guys to be cautious when doing anything with the chain.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

How about using industrial grade coolant??Originally posted by L.P. View PostTell me something more about changing the coolant to better version? if you have an idea?
or maybe a 2:1 mixture of antifreeze and water as opposed to 1:1 as per manufacturer recommendations??Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

That is the Ecu light don't worry about it. If it stays on after you start the bike then there is a problem. In short it is your bikes computer's light.Originally posted by devil_rider View PostHey guys.. i need some help.

last night i was riding on eastern express highway. The console was showing an average of staggering 53 kmpl. :OOriginally posted by pawan_pullarwar View PostToday I have completed 950 KM, due for first servicing. While coming to the office 22 KM, first time I did revved her hard, got 35 KMPL mileage.
Lot of vibration after 100 KMPH can be felt even after wearing hand gloves.
And bro don't rev the bike hard b4 d 1st service. and even for a small period after it.The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

If you do the touring, duke is not for you. This is my 6th bike, from my experience Duke has style and is flikable in the traffic. You are right about false gear, up-shift is smooth for down-shift is definitly notchy. Also she vibs a lot after 100 KMPH.Originally posted by maverick1 View PostI WOULD LIKE TO STATE THAT- I mean no offence to Duke or Duke owners,
i am still waiting for second test drive but still i doubt that overstressed negine can be a possiblity in a bike which has just 54 km on odo hence i am under impression all Dukes are like that.
My suggestion, if you are looking a bike only for city ride, go for Duke.
For touring, I have to finlize between Triumph Bonneville and Ninja 650R.

let this rev limiter be taken off. i guess that would lower the vibrations a bit from the bike.Originally posted by pawan_pullarwar View PostHighway I observed 56 KMPH at the speed 80 KMPH in 6th gear.
even i have observed that on highways at around 70-80 the bike gives you better average. The best alarm clock is sunshine on chrome.

Paddock Stand:
Ive seen someone sell paddock stands in Jaipur, he manufactures them: here is his add on Olx: Racing Stands for Yamaha R15 , Kawasaki Ninja 250R , Honda CBR 250R - Jaipur - Motorcycles - Scooters - Raja Park
cost is around 1300. When I went to the KTM service center they used the Ninja stand on my Duke (Green color stand). The one that KTM sell comes with an attachment that stays fixed on the swingarm. Maybe that is for extra safety.
Speedometer accuracy:
I think the Duke's meter is very accurate, in digital meters one can play with decimals while calculating speed and distance covered. The only thing that changes speed readings is a change in front tyre size. That too can be negligible, I will test the accuracy using GPS today and post results.
