If people here remember, Honda City 2nd Generation also had two plugs per cylinder. Does that mean that Honda engines are less efficient? The Honda City also produced the same amount of power and almost similar fuel consumption figures as the competitors in it's class. Does that mean that two plugs are an indicator of Honda engines being inefficient?
If we use the same vein in which the so called "experts" have judged technology, Why have DOHC? simple cams with rocker arms is good enough and offers the same performance. Why have alloy wheels? simple wire wheels are better, can be repaired and do not cost a bomb...whats more, they do not break like alloys nor deform like alloys. why have liquid cooled machines? the simple air cooled machines have the same top speeds and performance to match...
Why have air-conditioners? have air coolers...does the same task very well.
If costs and other factors are to be taken into consideration, Professor Subramaniam better shift to Diesel engines where there is no spark plug, no extra space consumption and lots of government subsidy.
As far as my personal opinion goes, the article is a pure piece of bull crap and the experts better keep an open perspective to newer technology. Instead of pulling down something, better introspect and check why patents were granted.
DISCLAIMER: the views and opinions expressed above are my own. no one is obliged to agree or disagree with the same. I have very vocally expressed that the so called "experts" in the article are dumb and outdated engineers. This is my personal opinion as an optimist and does not mean that I consider myself to be an expert.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

I understand that Bajaj put in charge of the design the same guy who designed the BMW 1200 GS and that the bike was conceived from the beginning as an international product, therefore I understand the front number plate placing not being a big part of the design.Originally posted by hifisharu View PostGreat pics there surojit, love the Yellow, and looks great with all the lush greenery.
Nothing specific your ownership, but in the last photo, I noticed that that front number plate kinda sticks out, and looks out of place. On bikes like the CBR250R, or the Duke, I can understand that the front number plate is an 'India only' requirement, and hence not there in the original design of the bike.
But the 200NS, was designed by our very own Bajaj team, and yet the front number plate placement looks like an afterthought. Even on the Ninja 250R, the placement is better. When Bajaj could file a patent for the number plate holder mechanism on the XCD, why not make a better design for their flagship model?
Coming from a car design studio, I find that even for the cars, the number plate is given least importance, and ends up looking like some 'Jugaad'. Hope these things are made better in the future iterations
Make sure the chain slack is properly adjusted and the chain being O-ring type must be lubricated every 500kms in good weather and low dust conditions and every 100kms in extreme weather and dusty conditions as I guess you have in India during the monsoon season.Originally posted by Manikandan View PostDone with my run in on the p200 ns .. will leave it for servicing 2moro ..!! there was a small prob with the coolant in the start with the radiator pipe and its all right now .. im even gettin an avg of 42-43 in both city nd highway riding .. most of city ..!! im just concerned about the chain and the chain sprockets.. its started givin noise already .. so is there anything that i can do about it ? please help!!

PS: Do not trust the svc personnel on the chain maintenance as they not always do it and it is understandable since that is part of the owners duties as much as washing the bike and checking the air pressure on your tires.

Why don't you make a similar post on the Honda CBR150R ownership thread and see what they have to say about the exact same topic?Originally posted by vipin_s View PostIn India 99.9186765
percent use bikes for commuting and more than 95 percent people cannot reach more than 80kmph due to road conditions and traffic. In B'lore except one /two roads you can't ride bike at >60kmph. It's illegal to ride bike >60kmph !! With more rich kids dying ,stricter laws will come in and laws will put brakes on speeds !!!
7000 rpm on P200NS means speeds > 80 kmph to feel power and get penalized too ??!!!
So Low End Torque is important for bikes so that the riding pleasure is felt within 60 kmph. Also LET has many advantages like longer engine life, better fuel efficiency etc etc
Bangalore transport commissioner has already warned companies that advertise speeds. He had warned that company will be filed with murder case if guys die in road accident due to high speeds.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

You mean you completed the run-in with out servicing the bike?Originally posted by Manikandan View PostDone with my run in on the p200 ns .. will leave it for servicing 2moro ..!! there was a small prob with the coolant in the start with the radiator pipe and its all right now .. im even gettin an avg of 42-43 in both city nd highway riding .. most of city ..!! im just concerned about the chain and the chain sprockets.. its started givin noise already .. so is there anything that i can do about it ? please help!!

The chain in NS is an O-ring and should be sprayed with the chain spray...you should get it in any of the service workshops.

Very nicely said.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostIsn't that what usually happens? Look at cars for example,
2. The 2.5 liter Common Rail Diesel engine inside the Toyota Innova produces 108 horses, by comparison, the 2.2 liter Common Rail Diesel(Developed with help from AVL, Austria) inside (cheaper) Xylo and Scorpio pumps 120 horses alongwith better FE and refinement.
The last time a Japanese company won the International engine of the year award was all the way back in 2004. The last 2 years have been clean sweeps by the EU companies.
It is always the Europeans which bring breakthrough technologies for exemplary efficiency to the mass market due to their extremely strict regulations. Something similar has happened to the Pulsar too due to the Austrian influence.
BTW, the same 2.2ltr Common Rail Diesel Engine in Xylo/Scorpio with further refinement, gives 140bhp in XUV500
sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.
Only thing I can say - "The storm is coming"

Great, congo buddy! well, I have fallen for Yellow, and as you may know, they do not have Yellow as yet. (asking for 5K more for that color). What do you suggest? wait for it to come to other dealers or pay the extra 5K. I dont have any idea as to how long the wait would last..Originally posted by Speedshift View PostRed for Rs. 95,681

Comparison and Evolution of Pulsars
When I look back.. 10 years.. Pulsar has come of ages.
It all began with Pulsar 150cc & 180cc. Back then, the competition of Pulsar150 was with CBZ... Soon came the Karizma and Pulsar 180 was compared with Karizma.
Pulsars evolved and as they moved ahead, they had new competitors... Unicorn, Apache et al. Pulsars evolved and superseded competition in lot of areas.
Pulsars further evolved and got competition from Yamaha and Suzuki. There also Pulsars managed to gain vote and people's heart.
And We have now significantly more number of Pulsar fans in India than Any other bike ever existed. Yes competition did beat pulsars in several areas.
Come 2012, and Pulsars are again ahead of the pack. 10 years back people compared Pulsars with some Indian products... today Pulsar is being compared with Indian Track King bike - R15 and Honda CBR. Some of the iconic products in world.
In my 10 years of biking I have never seen a single brand being compared to so many products in Indian market. And thats something amazing.
Analogy is.. Every smartphone is compared with Apple Iphone
Comparison has Evolved... Pulsar has evolved. And this is a Vicious Circle.
World is the Stage.. Bajaj .... go go go..Why Road Safety campaigns are not impacting people?
