  • Weird side stand notification issue : Pulsar 200ns

    Hello,

2 days ago I noticed that side stand indicator is always off, regardless of the position of side stand.

Yesterday took my bike to service, mechanic said that side stand switch is kaput...They didnt have side stand switch in stock, so asked me to wait for 10-15 days. They checked the plug to which side stand switch is connected, said its fine, just switch needs to be replaced. He checked by inserting ends of one wire to each side of plug and side stand light glowed.

So in the evening I went to buy that switch from outside. Got it AT 110 Rs! Took to a local mechanic to install it, and it didnt work also.

    Issue starts here:

When the side stand switch is connected but not mounted on its location, then that light turns on. But as soon as its mounted on its location, it stops working. Same happens with new switch also.

    Some pictures from illustration.

I tried searching if its getting turned off due to presence of different metals, so kept touching it everywhere but side stand notification was always on, only when i touched the bolt on the side stand or when i mounted, the light turned off.

I told the same to svc they told to come on monday, meanwhile it will be good if u people can help me.

P.S. : Mechanic cleaned that area with petrol, later at home, i cleaned that area with kerosene..

      Hi all,
I'm a new member to xBhp but have been following this thread for quite some time.
I became a new proud owner of the pulsar 200ns almost 2 weeks back. Uptil now it seems to be a great ride! Only 250kms on the odo yet. Can't wait to complete the running-in. It is just so hard to calm this one down. It always want to run!
Few small queries about the bike. During the hot summers at peak traffic times when the engine gets hot, does the idling rpm increase or is it some issue with my bike?
Also, does this bike have loud chain noise? Since I've been riding with a helmet on i never noticed but one day, when i rode without one i realized the chain was pretty darn loud! I'm not sure how to explain the sound but it's something like how on a bicycle when you stop pedaling and let it go, the sort of noise the chain makes.

Oh and does anyone service at shri seva in pune? I think thats what its called. The service center at wakdewadi. If yes then how is their service?

      Thanks!

The bike will have 2 idle rpm, one idle rpm at cold start, prefered to keep it at 1.4-1.5k rpm. And the idle rpm at hot temprature, ie after say some 30-40kms of running, that should be around at 2k rpm. Just adjust the idle rpm when the bike is cold and you are set. It is perfectly normal.

And regarding the chain noise, when in open roads the chain is not supposed to make much noise , infact almost should be silent, when in narrow roads, there will be a magnified effect of the sound, more prominent when you are running side of a barricade or divider or so on.
So i am assuming you are saying the noise when you are riding free, then it could either be a chain up for lubing, or a tight chain, put the bike in main stand and rotate the wheel with your hands and check for restriction in movement, if there is any then get the chain to appropriate slackness form the svc.
Most probably i think it is up for lubing, if you have ridden in the rain, it is a good chance that the lube has been washed off.!!

        Cheers

Hey krish thanks for the quick reply. No i mean in narrow roads and new barricades when the chain noise is reflected off it. Not on open roads. And no i havent ridden in the rain yet but now i guess the rains have begun so will be doing that soon. I had gone to the service center to tell them about this so he took a ride on it and then sprayed something on the chain(I'm thinking lube) but he said there are no issues. The noise is still the same. So I'm guessing this bike does have a loud chain noise?

The rpm when cold is slightly below 1.5k and once at normal temps its slightly above it. But after riding in the afternoon heat in bumper to bumper traffic it goes to slightly above 2krpm! So this is what i wanted to know if was normal.

EDIT: oh i just read your post again that 2k rpm is normal. So cool then nothing to get worried about then. Thanks again!

Yeah , nothing to worry about, even for the chain, you yourself made it clear it is prominent when rideing besides barricades or dividers, then it is just sound bouncing off, no issues, no problem of loud chain.
Yeah, the mech was right, there is no issues, he just sprayed some lube.

              @all Bangalore riders
I got my bike's front no. Plate replaced as the old one was bent little bit from left side. Any way does any one know good sticker shop? Also need to get 1 for doom right side for hiding the old accident mark. I believe the correct place is j.c road but would be nice if some one could mention any specific shop or an estimate of cost

just completed 450 kms running period. Will go for 1st service soon. but some Q in my mind about running period. give me more info how to complete running period. and during this 450 kms, I never revved my Pulse beyond 5k rpm. bt this means I am touching 65-70kmph speed. And did some trips around 35-40 kms continuous riding. At same speed most of all the way. Will it cause some damage to engine?? I was unaware about this. Showroom guys told me only not to rev more than 5k rpm.

I would say go for blue, least liked & you will get it early. Black is not the usual black & doesn't give you the dual color benefit, yellow too common on this bike. Red is also a good option.

Its the rpm that you should always take care. Also don't keep the same speed for long intervals. Try to drop down n give small bursts in between. Just don't redline...just don't

You were looking for duke 390 I guess. Right?? And ya bajaj service dissapointing. Color choice I would choose Red The best among the lot, gives it a evil look. And moreover color choice depends from person to person,so choose what your heart says and good luck with the machine

yes, yellow is too common, and i already have a black pulsar, so it will be either blue or red.no i was not looking for Duke 390, i was looking for Hyo GT250R/CBR250R, but dropped the idea and decided to go for NS for an year or so, then it will be P375.

Keep varying the speeds & also would be advisable to give bike some rest after continuous ride of more than an hour. Don't see any reason y you can't take bike fir short trip. Enjoy it
