  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

Guys I need your advice... my pirellis are almost done with their life span and I will be switching to new tires in another month or two. I wanted to ask how good are duke 200's tires and since the duke has wider rims than our NS's rims will it cause any problems with regard to hi speed stability, driving dynamics etc.

Any other options apart from the Revs C from duke and revz - s from R15 V2. My primary requirement is excellent road grip so soft compounds are preferred.

      Currently I'm owner of a P220(2012) and a cbz xtreme(2007) model..
Guys I was having wet dreams of 200ns for the past 1 year..I saved up much money for buying 200ns, also was planning to sell my xtreme and keeping 220 as its a new bike

Finally test drove it today.. Well it was only for 1km.. I tried red lining on 2nd and 3rd.. then changed to 4th,5th and 6th on 6000rpm.
To tell you the truth, I was utterly dissapointed with NS, where is 23.5bhp.. I felt like driving a normal commuter bike, the exhaust sound was terrible
It was like whole world crumbling upon me, all my dreams, those endless nights everything went boom!!!
My friend also test drove it, he also was saying its not good, couldn't feel the pick up :/

I don't know what to do anymore.. to take NS or drop it.. Can't afford duke or Cbr250

Well my question is are you guys satisfied by buying NS? are there any regrets?

Sorry for asking these questions, but you all know about a heart broken biker's feeling

While this may not be true for every showroom, the couple of NSes that I test rode before zeroing on this bike were absolutely horrible compared to the actual bike that I eventually bought. They had poor pickup and one of them had a severe case of engine knocking. I learnt that one shouldn't really judge bikes, especially the 200NS best on test rides. My yellow 200NS is an absolute beast and never fails to bring a smile on my face when I rip her through traffic. Wait for the other NS owners to pour in their thoughts as well.

I ...I won't be able to look my bike in the headlight for quite some time now. D:

Satisfied? I'd say yeah. I rode the older 200 DTS-i before buying this. Not too huge a leap over it. But I could feel the roll-on acceleration to have increased. The aural stimulation is not as easily achieved, yes. But it makes up for it past 7.5k RPM. The "commuterish" sound of the bike doesn't quite do justice to the confidence with which you can take corners nor the effortless cruising at over 110 kmph you can manage. Anything over that wouldn't be comfortable due to the wind blast. The stress on the engine is lower than what it would have been on the older pulsars at high revs. The only bad thing I'd say is Bajaj's service. I'd also recommend you to keep saving until you get a duke or a cbr. That would be an actual upgrade from your current bike.
          Replies in bold.

Cheer up Dude!! Test ride bikes mostly do not give true picture. I test rode a cou[ple of Duke 200 and did not find anything special over my P230. Finally, yesterday when I made my mind to buy a bike, I walked into the nearest Probiking, and asked them to give me a ride on a new bike. I told him up front, if I like it I will buy that piece, else I will go for 200NS.
The Manager was more than helpful in this regards. He arranged for a new "Peti Pack" bike, filled in petrol and gave me a ride. It was completely different than the test ride bikes. 2 minutes into the ride and I knew this is it. I got down from the bike, made the payment, and took the delivery of my white Duke 200.
Bottom line is dont rely on a test ride. Try to get your hands on a new model.

                  Motul 3100 is Semi-Synthetic.

Poorly maintained test bike is my guess, But why would you have wet dreams of 200ns while you already own that wonderful 220f which I suppose is equally good ? I've never ridden a 220f but man I just love the sight of it. Infact it often comes to my mind that I should've gone for 220f instead coz it was actually my "dream bike" and I missed it. But man I love my NS and yeah it never fails to put a smile on my face.. especially in higher RPMs lol. and I love it's exhaust, it's unique. You should hear a 200NS go by over 7k-8k RPM, you'll love it too.
Smart choice would be to avoid 200NS, and just wait a few months for the upcoming Pulsar375.

Sorry to quote, but that was one bloody excellent honest thought. Still my 220, the moment the key is turned on, boy the feeling is JUST unexplainable.

                          PS. Like the 200 too.

Hi Ajay, I was in a similar situation as you 1 month back. I had been riding the P220 from 3 years and its a great bike. I was in a dilemma whether the 200 ns upgrade is worth or whether it is an upgrade at all. I was also in a situation where I could'nt spend for the KTM or CBR 250.Initially, when I test rode the 200 ns, I was not too impressed with the acceleration. But after 1 month of owning it now, I can assure you that its worth. The major difference is the Refinement - Its very relaxing to ride a bike which is refined(the 220 used to lose refinement very easily as the engine heats up), Handling and Braking - This is a significant improvement over the 220. Finally the mileage - This is a definite improvement, my earlier pulsar used to deliver around 32, but the 200 ns delivers nearly 40. Also Bajaj seems to have ironed out niggles such as vibrations etc in the new batches. Conclusion - Post 1 month and almost 800 kms, I am satisfied with the bike Hope this helps.
