        Hi,

Greeting on first right up in this thread. Thanks for the time.

I want a honest feedback from your end whether I should think of Classic 350 as an upgrade option from ZMR. I completed 45 K KMs and 4+ years on my ZMR and now thinking for an option. Please do include positives and negatives. Please let me know, I will wait for your feedback. I am also confused between Classic and TB both being 350cc.

I have just started reviewing different ownership thread in xbhp.

From ZMR i don't think you will like Classic. Go for thunderbird. Brakes of Thunderbird is better than classic as it is having double discs. It's having tacho meter, fuel gauge and a tiny digital lcd displaying odo, trip meter etc. From zmr's digital meter to classic having only a speedometer and a amps meter which is not required on new RE's will not be a good option. So Thunderbird is the bike you should choose what i feel. I still don't like these newer models and i am still thinking on which area they have advanced in these 30-40 years. Currently having a 1972 model STD bullet which my father bought when he was working in Airforce, still now it's working fine, pickup i feel is better than newer classic and vibrations are lot less, brake and shock absorber i am planning to change. Or may be it's the emotional attachment i am having with this bike which making positive points of new bike fade. My suggestion would be go for the old one, restore it, you will never regret. From the above two options my choice would be Thunderbird as an upgrade from ZMR.

Gizmos from TB are for time Being, they are of no use after warranty expires. They are costly to maintain and does not shows accurate values excluding Tacho!
I have a friend who is experiencing all the issues mentioned above. if you are on for Classic you wont get any gizmos minus the rear disc brake. Its a high maintenance vehicle as it ages all the niggles comes popping right out and you have to do mini servicing every fortnight.
To conclude : if you are looking for fill it and forget it type of autmobile then this should obvioulsy not be your choice.
P.S. I have completed 45K+ Kms in 33 months and still love it. Average maintenance cost excluding fuel and regular maintenance would be around Re. 1 /Km.

Been gathering information on Thunderbird for past few months.

I have read through all the replies on this thread. I have to admit most of you surely are in love with Thunderbird 350.

I'm about to place my order in about 12 hours and the dealer said I'll get it after 24 days, which I really doubt. I'm afraid it might extend to 2-4 months. But it is worth the wait!

                Few things I wanna ask;
                1) I'm from Meghalaya (Home of clouds). Are there any tyre sets that I can change to for better traction even after tyres getting wet? If yes then can I change to a wider back tyre with better traction? What would be the cost approximately?

2)Does NEW Bajaj Avenger's Rear View Mirror(RVM) fit upon New Thunderbird 350? If yes then what's the cost and if no then can anyone suggest a better RVM for Thunderbird 350?

                3) What's the approx cost of changing to tubeless tyres with alloy instead of traditional spoke style? What are the disadvantages of changing?

                4) Any pointers for properly maintaining Thunderbird 350?

                5) Any suggestion for front leg guard and how to fit them so they don't push on front mud guard to hit tyre?

                6) Can it be turned into a single seater? If anyone has seen it, kindly share the image of same.

                Looking forward to be enlightened

No dude you will not have to wait that long! I am from siliguri we had our classic ready to deliver in some 15days that too because we opted for a loan and not full cash (in case if that I was told I can get one the very nxt day). So the advice is to sort the bucks earlier so that you can get hold of it as soon as possible.

I've made full cash payment in advance.
17 days have passed by and still no updates on the bike.

I think delivery period for Classic and Thunderbird is different.

                          But thanks for reply buddy.

Save some more money and go for Himalayan

Otherwise if you want to stick to Classic then it does have certain problems like; rear brake isn't disc brake. For a bike weighing about 185 Kgs, it would be hard for you to stop when you desire and may lead to accident since it will be your first bike.

For oil leakage. That used to be the problem in older days, I'm not saying it won't happen in new classic models but what I know is that they have tremendously minimized it.

For battery, as long as you are not overloading it, then it works absolutely fine with some extra power to spare as well.

Handling is good but handle bar will cause lots of vibrations after reaching 70 km/h.

                              Has great suspension.

As for pain, it mostly depends on people's routine throughout the day not few hours of ride. Pain only comes if you are riding for long hours, that too everyday, not from a single day long ride.
