Go back a few pages, there is something called gearing commander, a website that helps you to customize all sorts of sprocket sizes or simply google Gearing Commander.

    Cheers!

don't know about pulsar 180 but Unicorn's sprockets don't fit into FZs, as previously I went to fit a 16 teeth front sprocket in my Unicorn with that of an Yamaha FZs but it did not fit, if you ask me, go for the regular FZ16 sprocket or the Diamond sprocket Kit. . .

As we all know, mostly the 40T (Karizma), 39T (P180 UG4), 38T (P200), 37T & 36T (P220 DTSFi & DTSi) rear sprockets are inter compatible for most of the part. When Duke 200 was announced with a 43T .520 rear sprocket, I tried finding out if its inter-compatible with the above group.

Now, Joel K Raju has confirmed (with a Youtube video) that Duke 200's sprocket can be fit on the Pulsar 220 DTSi. But it will severely undergear it, and the bike will not give good 0-60 and 0-100 timings compared to stock sprocket, because of too many gearshifts involved to reach 60 and 100 respectively. Obviously, for a Pulsar 220 owner, the 43T doesn't make much sense.

Can any Duke 200 owner try overgearing his bike with a 39T sprocket, from P180 UG4, just to find out whether it fits or not? This mod should most probably give you some extra top speed, increase your highway range, without making ECU/ Engine changes.
undergearing increase acceleration But how does it not result in better 0 to 60 time?

By the same process, rapid upshift. Else you run the risk of hitting the rev limiter.

          Cheers!

            • The previous set up 14/42 front-rear sprocket ratio, to 15/47 for the new one. Check out the holes of sprockets, they should give you an idea.

              Cheers!

              • I was changing my front sprocket and found out that there is a slight amount of lateral play (1-2mm). Is it fine? No matter how I place the holder plate and tighten the bolts, the play is still there. I am not sure if it was there earlier or not since this was the first time I opened it myself.

I googled and found out that in most forums abroad they say the play should be there and few say there shouldn't be. So what is correct??

there should not be any play. Seems like the sprocket has deformed a little.I guess output shaft good though, right? . @ Sird, i must say you are the man! Eagerly awaiting your review and a pic with sprocket installed..

                    • Impulse sprocket recommendation

                      Hi guys,

I need to over gear my Impulse by 10%. The current ratio is 18/50. I am thinking of going +1/-3 (19/47)Any suggestions on what sprockets will be direct fit and give me the ratio that I want? The bike is terrible under-geared and runs out of breath.

I missed to add more details. I had a 14T stock sprocket earlier. Had recently changed to 15T but didnt like the sluggishness. So i tried to revert back to 14T myself and that is when I saw the play. So again reverted back to 15T and it also had the play. So are you absolutely sure that there shouldn't be any play?? Lot of foreign forums say there will be some play.

The shaft seemed to be good and there was no play in it.

Yes there should be a play. No problem man, its fine.
I've recently changed the shaft of my bike and chain sprocket kit too and there is a play.

Thanks bro. But what is the reason behind it? Is it similar to why a chain should have slack??

That play is a must because of transmission power differences. Some have and some don't. But it's not something to worry about.

Please go back a few pages I've mentioned something as gearing commander. Use it. It's impossible to get every detail for every bike out there.

The play in the front sprocket is there so that when the rear suspension moves up-down it can be a bit uneven on two sides , thus moving the rear sprocket sideways . The slack in the front sprocket allows it to adjust to the sideways movement of the rear , yet maintain alignment of the chain drive straight .
