By 48K it was well worn, and I decided to change.

"Impossible" is too harsh a word to use so loosely my friend. Perhaps you haven't seen an example yet. I do hope to show and change your fixed mind someday.

No, there is nothing harsh, none taken, none given. I've clearly mentioned "one offs" Fact of the matter is one of my mech is my one of close friend, at least 85% of the time during weekends I spend my time with him, have seen countless bikes change their sprockets. Have seen Stunners, Unicorns, you name it and checked myself their odo 15k, the youngest I know is of of a HH Passion Pro, got it changed at 11k, completely worn out sprocket with no life whatsoever, at least chain had quite a little.

If you've read my post correctly, there is a lot of difference between closed and open chains, anything taken proper care of can last well over a time, it's not just chains, anything you put your care into.

I've also mentioned clearly "THUMB RULE" which means you take all the oddities, no maintenance, no care, etc etc.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      Hi Samarth,

      After 20000 kms, m
      The only possible solution was:

Btw, I have installed K&N YA1611 flatbed type air filter (without upjetting), NGK Iridium+Splitfire cable. And after installing the Raceconcepts Free Flow Exhaust, the bike's pick up and torque at any RPM is awesome (it has ample torque in every band), truly it's a never before experience. Perhaps the top speed is reduced, need to test and confirm again.
      Hi,
I am also thinking of NGK Iridium plug for my baby R, my query is what's the advantage of using splitfire cable with iridium plug?????

You can ask this query in a dedicated R15 thread, as they might be able to help you too. NGK doesn't make that much a difference whatsoever, slight anti cold knock properties and the spitfire helps make the power delivery even smoother, nothing significantly improved by a huge margin.

But please, do post this in a dedicated R15 thread, just for thread, consistency. Thank you so much

        Cheers!

        • It is.. but I really wanna find out if she can pull more.. and basically increase the speed for given rpm.. can someone just help me find a 6 hole sprocket smaller than 39..

Either go for a smaller front cog or bigger rear cog, for uniform power through all gear.

            Cheers!

I was actually planning to over gear the bike.. bigger front and smaller rear.. I've decided to go for custom sprockets..after a very long search.. some one just tell me if there are 6 hole 36T sprockets said to be used in old P180 at all..

Yes if most doesn't know how's Apache's instant acceleration works is not in it's engine, but it all lies in the sprocket, add more, add less makes a huge different in the top and low end of the bike, but most keep blaming it on the engine, just a thought.

Just a small but needed OT, RTR's acceleration is mostly due to these reasons:

                1. Those hard compound tyres. Yes, they give speed as they stick less affectionately, to the road.

                2. Yes, its gearing is a factor too. Its more undergeared than most of the other bikes we see.

                3. The engine does have something special about it: The throaty exhaust does not seem like ordinary to me, specially after riding japanese bikes.

                4. Lightweight, specially in comparison to the Unicorn-derived HMC twins which touch around 150 kgs' each.

And no matter how much I hate TVS tyres, there's no doubting that how well TVS managed to give us good practical performance. Hats off to them.
RTRs really feel blazing fast, specially if you ride them after riding Pulsars & HMC 150's.

Second your thoughts completely, Samarth. Talking about throaty exhaust, definitely, sound and performance goes hand in hand and, personally loved that roar, especially the FI ones. That being said, TVS tire aren't that bad after all.

To this day, my VICTOR GLX clocked close to 60K KMS and the front never a time had a single puncture, that's different story. But when it comes to grip, it started going downhill after 40K KMS lasted really long.

Rear worn out sooner than expected, but the stock did justice to the fact, though I was a commuter back then.

In all, TVS could better their tire technology.

                  Cheers!

Is it possible to improve performance or you can say pick up of my SZ-R from 85-105 by sacrificing some of its low end performance....???...also I wanted to know that change in sprocket set will result in better top end and better acceleration at the top or it will increase its top speed only with default lazy pick up after 90kmph...????

Increase top speed = decrease pickup and vice versa.
