Can they collect labour amount on free services or i have been cheated?
If they are cheating, is it done only on KTM Mogappair or everywhere. how about KTM Adyar?
Need help from chennai KTM owners..
I will try to post a pic of cash bill.
I think venkatesh velmani is the first 390 customer in KTM Mogappair, please post your valuable inputs
I think these are not the labour charges. They must be the charges for the Oil Filter, and they normally charge for the Chain Lube and the consumables are the items like Rustlick that they use for lubrication.

It's normal and this is how it's done everywhere.

I have a Nov 2013 bike, i had tested the RPM limit after seeing a post in this thread a couple of weeks back.

My 390 was going till 10.5K RPM, Bars post 9.5 were faint but were appearing and then the rev limiter would kick in.

I would again verify it tomorrow morning and post the findings.

The situation is clearly the result of the monopoly your delare enjoys. Here in Mumbai, atleast the buying experience is good. You are treated well, plus the dealers do help you out whenever you have an issue. But this may be unavoidable for some time, Odisha being a relatively poor state and hence lacking customers for premium bikes. Same reason Kolkata doesn't have all the luxury brands the way Mumbai and Delhi has.
But when it comes to service, the limited infra(read staff) and the poor parts quality of Bajaj spoils the experience. I shudder to think what will happen once the Bajaj Parts quality starts shining through and you take your 390 to the svc for servicing.
I am not being a party pooper, just ranting at the Bajaj philosophy of maximizing profit margins(highest in the industry) at the cost of parts quality.

Keep on shooting mails to Bajaj and keep them strongly worded. Also call up KTM service manager/regional area manager/and customer care.
yah bhai I do agree that bajaj part quality are not that good. but in order to bring the cost down and keep his company running he have to do so. as most of us wont go over 2-3 lakhs bike. the same reason honda and yamaha are yet to setup there ltr class assembly line. for example people jump to car from bike for safety reason. In india we are happy to ride a nano with no safety measure and maruti 800 is the highest sold car in india, so why not bajaj. ek baat mein aapse razi nahi hunga that odisha is poor. we have the highest superbike in eastern side of india. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmOHsqY71HM.
we provide raw material to whole india to meet there power need. every bike need service around 5-6k km thats fine i can live with that. all i m saying is that if you pay certain amount for product or service the seller should provide the same in time. i do have mailed to ktm and bajaj but abhi tak customer care se baat nahi hui.

Cheers

You should not use 10w40 but 10w50

Just to be sure I checked the redline limit for first and second gears, and I saw that the bike crossed 10K in both these gears . So as far as my bike is concerned, the rev limiter is definitely at 10.5K. May be I was being paranoid yesterday and saw something else

10w40 will ruin the engine, use 10w50. Also there should be no labor charges during the free services.

Tell me, if both spares and labors are paid, what's free in the free service?

Please guide/suggest last minute checks and PDI check list.

Any recommended accessories that I should get at the time of purchase?

I bought a Spartan Helios Jacket and MT Axxis Evo Black Limited Edition helmet for now. Will be picking up gloves and other gear next week.

Faced my first major niggle this morning on my way to work. After descending down K.R Puram flyover I experienced vibrations in the handle bar. Not the engine vibes but it feels like some cable or plastic part is rubbing against something. Its mild during deceleration but while accelerating its very irritating.

I have a service scheduled this Saturday at KTM Mekhri Circle and will hopefully get it fixed there. Bike has run ~2200kms so far in four months.

Yes, I know this feeling very well. Its a renowned issue with the Karizma. It feels like the accelerator cables rubbing within the handle bar grip and it keeps giving that vibrating/tingling sensation.

In my case, there were 2 issues:
1. Accelerator cables (indeed at fault) had slack more than required. Re-adjusted both cables.
2. Bar end weights (held by a screw at the tip) were not aligned properly. Screws weren't fit in straight, rather at an angle. Meaning, they were not snugly tightened; hence increasing that tingling sensation. Check your handle bar guards for the same.

Lastly, if all else is fine, you might get the cone set checked and greased.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

Yup, my hunch is also same. My LHS hand guard is loose (rapists at parking guard) for a few days now. The bar end weight is also loose because of it.

Will get it checked this Saturday.

senotrius - I have never crossed 30kmpl be it ripping or driving sedately. Maybe my sedate is not sedate enough.
AmitRavi07 - what month, year is your bike?

9500 is more than enough for me. But I am worried that if some bikes have 10500 rpm, that means the ecu map is not the same across bikes. And if the rev limiter is different, what else if different?
Most worryingly, the svc people and others from KTM/Bajaj have no clue if the rev limiter should be 9500 or 10500.

Mine was from the second batch in Delhi. I got it in the month of October 2013. I too am surprised that they have limited some bikes to 9.5K rpm with the same top-end speed. As far as I remember you got your bike around the same time in Oct-Nov isn't it?

Yeah I got it in Nov. I read about one more guy (in another forum) from first batch who got it in September. He also has rev limited to 9500.
I am now wondering if bikes with 9500 ecu maps are the ones suffering from engine shutoff problem.

Nopes, mine has that problem. In fact at one time the problem was so severe, that the bike stalled every 200mts.. The svc engineer had to change the ECU and clean the ou-take valves, so the problem has reduced significantly, but, the bike still stalls from time to time.

Did your older ECU also goto 10500? Maybe your newer ecu does not have the problem and goes to 10500.
