Not really, so many of my friends have gone on potholes and speed bumps at 100+ and luckily nothing happened. Few of my friends on P220 had cracked rims at sub 80 speeds (but on a different pothole). So the type of pothole/speed bump matters very much here! And also your luck And if you brake at last moment seeing them, then the damage will be even worse!

I feel its the tyres which make it more prone to rim damage compared to say D200. 390 has relatively smaller sidewall on both tyres so on impact, the tyre cant absorb as much. The tyre compounds are one of the softest in indian bikes so impact absorption is relatively lesser. And also harder suspensions will rebound much of the impact jolt to the rim.

Riding carefully is the only way to prevent it I remember every single pothole and speed bump on my commuting route

18k is a lot but it does look robust and well made so it should be worth it then & yes original Givi ones will be much more than that. Let us know how the bike handles now and dont forget to keep in mind that your bike is much wider now

Dear Mr. Piyush Sinha,Wishing you season’s greetings.

          Thank you for communicating your
buying intention with a query you have in mind.
Please note that the wheel rims
are made out of cast alloy steel.
          After design testing and
manufacturing, they further get tested and approved at Automotive Research
          association of India.
          Post safety approval from this
Government agency – the vehicles can be put on road. Thus the wheel rims of Dukes are
safe to ride under all normal road/usage conditions.

*However as stated by you there
are few cases which get reported once in a blue moon.
          All of them are post*
receiving impact which are beyond normal impact load.

At higher speeds if any wheel
rim edge touches the side wall of ditch this can happen on any motorcycle.
We keep getting such cases on
all motorcycles irrespective of any particular brand.
          Since these are unknown/ less
perceived impacts – they are termed as accident and covered under insurance
          replacement.

          Since the tyres provided are
tubeless – the tyre deflation happens at slow rate.
Thus there would not be any
safety issue as perceived by you.

*Hence please go ahead – book the
vehicle and enjoy all its features without any fear whatsoever.

          *Welcome to Orange family of
          motorcycles !!

          *

          With regards
          KTM India Team

For the Dukes I've ridden I've gone one with myself and pillion both travelling at a good clip, over a tall hump and the bike suffered absolutely no problems whatsoever. In fact, I think as is the case, it's just certain lots where the wheels "must" have had some manufacturing defect, and I hope KTM "did" look into the query. Case in point since they've mentioned they themselves have witnessed some cracked rim issues "once in a blue moon" obviously reflects the fact that it's been looked upon. But I hope the newer lots should have this issue taken care of. And I've seen Dukes do Leh Ladakh, Spiti and the like, you do the math.

Forget all the costly and the enduro/tourer motorcycles. Here you have it. Excellent job there, jagjit. Keep it up, if you can turn on those floodlights and take a snap of it that'd be real great.

          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Got this KTM original cover from Probiking. Costs exact 800/- here in Noida.

                First impression-
Decent quality but doesn't look very durable. Should do the job though. Not Duke shaped, as you can see (for eg. no dedicated extention for RVMs), but decently shaped to cover whole of it nonetheless.
                Has got 2 underbody belts.
Could have been for Rs 500 or say 600 at max.

                Current rides-
                Iron 883 (2015- ); Interceptor 650 (2019- )

I bought one from Chopra KB for 450. Bullet size, but one RVM fits in the grove.

They must make it specifically the size of Duke if they are charging this much.

For the past 10 days after 2nd service, I wasn't keeping well and so didn't take out my Mastiff (D390) but today I did.
Now I know - the rush of D390 was something that I was missing, Now I am feeling much better .

I pampered Mastiff with Motul 300V this time. I had to write a small letter (like a declaration) for that in my SVC.
Was there all the time till its was serviced. Took time but was ok.
I purposefully revved the motor a bit to understand the difference but the motor felt good doing a 3rd gear 100.
But let me not jump the gun and wait till tomorrow when I have some plans

Since yesterday I am facing a problem, when turning on the headlight switch, the tail light goes off. Its on when the parking light switch is on, but, as soon as I switch to headlight, all the lights on the switches and the tail light turns off. Anyone faced this issue?

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!
