They are supposed to use 10W50 Motul 7100! They used 10w40 for yours? Go and get the oil changed for free

Indiranagar is the closest SVC to me but looks like I better go somewhere else

Btw KTM is replacing front sprocket of all 390s for free, apparently its a new design. Not sure if the number of teeth has changed or anything, if so it will make significant difference.
One guy who has April 2014 model didnt need replacement as he already had the newer one.

You better change the center then, they are the worst.

BTW, is there a official announcement for this ? or will this be done quietly like the rear tail section replacement ? Did you get it changed on your bike ?

Cool, do update about it here. But just another thought, changing the front sprocket alone, would cause the chain to wear off unevenly and badly and cause the uneven slack , right ?
Isn't that kinda bad ? And already with this bike chain adjustments are needed much more than one would like.

I got my bike serviced last weekend but nothing of such sort was done. Do update what difference are there after yours is changed.

Surely I will update here. Not sure how the new sprocket will impact chain health, the general advice is to change the whole set because changing only sprocket while still using old chain will ruin the new sprockets quickly.

                      Hi,

has anyone tried good aftermarket front disc pads for 390 ? The stock ones are useless there is no bite during spirited running. Even after the SVC mechanics tried to clean & adjust , we have to squeeze more than half of the play in the front lever to get some serious stopping power.

Personally I've driven lots of motorcycles out there, but I personally feel the Duke 390 has an excellent brake setup out there, doesn't feel too out of the line or too hard too, it's just the right mix. It doesn't mean other motorcycles out there have inferior setup, but this brake can be considered a life saver in almost any conditions, provided. If you feel it's too hard, try bleeding the lines and refill fresh something like DOT 4 or 5.1 all lead to good performance.

Secondly has anyone used the Engine Ice and how is the performance w.r.t to Motul Inugel and can anyone help me with the performance of Motul Inugel and Engine Ice respectively that'd be great. I happen to see a good detailed review here, but some hands on insight would be appreciated.

                        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                        THE END

B7ACKTHORN : I think he is referring to brake related issues which few people have faced, that it loses bite with time. If things are normal there is nothing to complain about brakes of 390

Regarding engine ice, whoever used it say it reduces temp by atleast one bar on the console. But I am skeptical about what the SVCs will think about warranty (now that even using 300V seems to void warranty ) so I wont be going for this. Moreoever they say Engine Ice capabilities are more when temp < 0. Using RedLine's Water Wetter additive (not available in India) to pure distilled water is actually better coolant in hot conditions.

In city riding the temp is almost always 5 bars from maximum temp and it goes upto 4 in heavy traffic, that's it. Till first service it used to regularly go upto 3 bars.

On highways there is absolutely no problem whatsoever, even at 130+kmph riding the temp will 6-7 bars from maximum!

Adarsh, I do differ in that context, I think the engine ice should be there, thanks to the fact that the 390 uses the same radiator setup as for the 200, which makes no sense when considering how heated up the bike gets compared to the 200. At-least using a better quality coolant should be done. As far as warranty goes, it all boil downs to how well you know the svc guys, if you know them well, they are ready to pull a blind eye over it, if not they start picking on the minutest of details to void it.
And indeed, it is the stupid stagnant city traffic that causes most of the problems, highway riding always keeps the temperature at bay. Now if only it was completely built for highway rides.. :-P

When did I say engine Ice is not required? Reducing temp by one bar is a big difference. What I meant was since I dont really face overheating much & also dont want any issues with warranty, I will keep away from it for now.

And the radiator of 390 is bigger than 200, I checked it personally. It protrudes out more than 200. And yes, good relations with SVC goes a long way.

In any case, if any one is looking for Engine Ice in Blore, X-torque has it in stock for 1300/-. They will do the installation as well.

I hope this will sort out chain slapping issue since the mechanic at SNK referred to it.
