Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Indeed, I was looking for review of the MRA on the Duke, but as far one could fetch all I could get is the review from the Duke 200, though they both aren't radically different.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostI guess you are asking about a side by side comparison of CBR and MRA windshields and the amount of wind deflection achieved from both of them. I dont think anyone has done it yet, all we have heard is MRA owners and other (CBR/Fazer etc) windshield owners claiming it does the job
Why dont our 390 owners here get together and make a comparo?
And unless you plan to ride consistently above 120kmph, you dont really need the windshield, esp in Ooty
But you will feel the need in boring 4 lane highways.
I would suggest just get the Fazer windshield, try it out and if you are really unhappy, look for MRA.
And yes, newer lots have lesser niggles than before. They have solved the starting issues and also the stalling issue when clutch is pressed (they increased idling to solve this
) but anyways, you will have more peace of mind. And a thorough PDI is a must, one of my friend didnt have ABS ring on rear brake
Again, the wind factor, you're right indeed, unless one is really on the highway munching miles, it isn't much a need. But you do need to factor Ooty's climate into consideration, plus the wind plays a big factor here, and using the 220 it does a real good job, but ride the naked ones, and the drama changes altogether. Personally I like the MRA mainly it being adjustable and the cantilever addition is a great touch and aids is structural stability of the shield. Considering to get a clear one, but let's see.
Thanks, Nelson, I think this TBHP article has been beaten to death, indeed have gone through the thread in TBHP quite a number of times. Yes MRA does offer very good windshields for all spec series, and if you did your research correctly, you would have seen that the windshields for the naked ones are a plug and play for most naked super sport bikes, and is a direct fit to our Dukes. So that's a sweet proposition isn't it.Originally posted by nelson_sanjoy View PostSorry for jumping in the conversation :
See this My Flamberge (KTM Duke 390) Ownership report - A middle aged man's perspective - Page 9 - Team-BHP
There are 4 wind screen options for KTM from MRA - MRA V-Flow C type, Z-type, RNB & one KTM specific.
The best part is the holder which connects the visor with the handle. The cantilever-like setup improves strength and prevents fluttering at the top.
Abroad some people put Puigs and MRA RNB's on FZ1, CB1000R etc so you can imagine the speeds sustenance.
Though I personally use Fazer windscreen but did a small research on MRA
Congratulations in Advance.
Primarily it needs to be adjustable, secondly it's supposed to have good structural support (love the cantilever) support, thirdly it must be reliable and good quality. The local 300 to 450 bucks may not seem much of an investment in case the stuff goes to heaven. But let's see.
Thanks all for your excellent thoughts. Much appreciated.
Cheers!

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hey VJ,
You might have got what you are looking for but, I just thought of sharing my experience.
I had a chance to ride 2013 -D390 when i went for the test drive, and the vibration that i felt on that particular vehicle(may be because of it is a test drive piece) was a big downer for me. But then I really enjoyed the horses, ABS, metzeler etc.etc.. and here I am a proud owner of 3 weeks old D390
The engine feels much much smoother, hardly feel any vibration except some minor in the left foot peg. (I think it is because of the messy-first service they did it in Indiranagar service center)
So far no stalling issue, no hot start problem, no oil leakage, no gear shifting issues..
RPM used to increase a point when I engage clutch and decrease immediately so as to avoid engine shut-off ( I guess it was the purpose behind this weird thing) But I don't see this behavior post service . Wondering what might have they done ! However still no stalling as such -Happy
Better to note the bellow points when you go for your first service
1)make sure they don't put that damn polishing liquid in yours discs( really miss the bite it had before service. Its been almost 70kms but still it is not what it was)
2)The chain lube they use is horrible, better carry a lube(cyclo/ motule) with you though i don't know whether they will allow
3)Check the clutch and brake play after the service
4)They didn't replace any parts during first service and didn't allow me to put motule 300v as the reason was -'no engine oil other than motule 7100 for vehicles under warranty!'
safe ride!

If you are keen on MRA then this is your best bet, looks decent too! It would be great if @Cyrus_the_virus could update us with his latest experiences with the windshield.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostIndeed, I was looking for review of the MRA on the Duke, but as far one could fetch all I could get is the review from the Duke 200, though they both aren't radically different.

Adjustability and structural stability is no doubt the biggest plus point of MRA. The same windshields being used in much more powerful bikes says the story

Hope to get them real soon. But the V FLOW is real good, wider and the dual tone with clear and black is "exactly" what I was looking forward for.Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostIf you are keen on MRA then this is your best bet, looks decent too! Thanks, Georgee. I've ridden the Duke for close to 100 Kms here in Ooty, pure hill riding, pseudo off roading and what not, the torque is where I fell in love, riding the 220 I'm always addicted to low end torque. And this guy is simply the best! But thanks again for your inputs, will help.Originally posted by georgee View PostHey VJ,

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
It's strange that they would not allow the 300v when it's clearly the better oil.Originally posted by georgee View Post4)They didn't replace any parts during first service and didn't allow me to put motule 300v as the reason was -'no engine oil other than motule 7100 for vehicles under warranty!'
When I went in for my first service, one of the mechs tried to convince me not to use 300v saying due to the color of the oil it would be difficult to tell incase any coolant was leaking into the engine. Which made no sense at all.
Needless to say got them to use the 300v and am very happy with the bikes performance and smoothness.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi Dukers,
Currently I own 200NS & CBR250R Respol Edition & planning to change my NS with 390 as I want to have a more powerful bike. My cousin already has a Duke 200 which I have tested couple of times, seating position is spot-on for Duke 200 & you are welcomed with surge of wind blast as soon as you try to go blasting with the acceleration.
Since you guys are owning 390, is it better to wait inn for RC-390 or go inn for 390... Share your expertise & experiences in this bike combo ownership. You must be the change you wish to see in the world

Do wait for RC. It won't take to long. Well save you from regretting if the RC comes instantly after your buy.
Plus, you'll get a chance of comparing both.

Yep. Do wait for rc. Then you will have the choice. Whether to go for a sports bike or a naked. Both will be good. It will all get down to personal choice.Originally posted by enfro View PostDo wait for RC. It won't take to long. Well save you from regretting if the RC comes instantly after your buy.

Since you are looking for a replacement for NS ,I think the duke 390 would be better. Still wait for RC who knows you might end up replacing the CBR. That's what I would do.Originally posted by thunderbird_m6 View PostHi Dukers,
