Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The point at which the rev limiter kicks in is 10.5K. But the rpm lines are dull after 9.5K. Even if the rev-limiter is 10.5, it seems that the maximum speed is same. How can that be? Does that mean that whoever is having 9.5K rpm cut-off has better acceleration than the ones having 10.5 as cut-off?Originally posted by Legend Racer View Postok boss, so is it 9.5 or 10.5? old bikes rev more?
Either ways, dont know what is going on?

As quoted by a couple of people that the bike hits 81-82 in second at 9.5k rpm at which point the rev limiter kicks in. Mine does the same. Viper if your bike revs till 10.5k rpm it should be able to do more speed than 81 in second gear when you hit the limiter. Can you confirm? Because if it doesn't then either your gearing is low which can't be and you most probably are reading the rpm wrong.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostThe point at which the rev limiter kicks in is 10.5K. Legend Racer old bikes don't rev more, riazmomins bike is from the initial lot I believe and he confirmed that his bike revs till 9.5k rpm.Why 2wheels over 4.....

Hello Krishna, how are you mate? How is the duke behaving?Originally posted by krish2778 View PostOk amith, do check the PRS and Bachoo motors sites for crash protector options. They are pretty costly though.

I read your long term review of the duke and i must say it was a great review.
I read about the alloy wheels cracking issue, when the wheels crack due to impact from a pothole at high speeds. Do you know any further about the incident? If true, it is a very serious safety concern.
Also i had once seen this pic of a 390 completely crushed on fb, the point which bothered me the most was that its alloy was shattered in pieces. I have been skeptical about the wheels since then.
How much is there to worry about this? And has ktm acknowledged/recalled any models about this?
Thanks,
nYsus

I have already checked and re-checked mine and its 10.5K. Anyways I will again take a look at it tomorrow and try and take a pic or something.Originally posted by DukeDey View PostAs quoted by a couple of people that the bike hits 81-82 in second at 9.5k rpm at which point the rev limiter kicks in. I have checked in 1st and 2nd and neutral in my parking lot. The simplest way to check is in neutral.Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostI have already checked and re-checked mine and its 10.5K. Anyways I will again take a look at it tomorrow and try and take a pic or something.

Set RPM1 and RPM 2 at 10500, then if while revving you see shift rpm light flashing it means it set to atleast 10500 rpmOriginally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostI have already checked and re-checked mine and its 10.5K. yes that is a serious issue and no official acknowledgment of this issue or it's solution has been taken from KTM side. Which is really sad, and the fact that no proof stating the problem to a particular batch is available so it is just a matter of when it happens to any other random rider. I hope that these are just weird coincidences or isolated events and not actually a looming defect of the rims, which if it is is a grave quality issue, potentially life threatening too.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Today I revved the bike on Open Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad in 3rd Gear. It revved till 10500 RPM, where as yesterday in 2nd gear, it only revved till 9500 RPM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Just to add to the confusion, I checked again today morning and saw that the rpm is 10.5K. Was not able to capture a pic, but, If what riazmomin says is true, then maybe the one-time I stated that I too had a 9.5K rpm is also true.Originally posted by Legend Racer View Post@AmitRavi07

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
guys,The speeds achieved when Rev limiter cuts in
are same for both 9.5k and 10.5k shown rite.
also has anyone any views on this (quick) throttle mod.?
m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=9r1s3PX6rQU
as such the bike takes long enough for me to reach and breach 7.5k rpm.maybe this is why they say the 200 revs easier.๔ยкє ҭђгєє ภเภєҭұ เภ ๓ұ שєเภร

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
riazmomin & Amit, Is it possible that the limit is dependent on the bike temperature? Maybe it was running cooler when you took it to 10.5k and other times it is limited to 9.5k?
Anyways, looks like not much of a difference in speeds achieved so we shouldnt really bother much
