yes orange assist is an annual 'membership' for around 800rs i think.. a single tow itself might cost you as much at times if you do it yourself. But as you said, it all depends on luck on what kind of an experience you receive

It costed me Rs.1000 in a TATA ACE for a distance of about 15kms when my Duke suffered a breakdown due to clutch hub nut issue.

I am thinking of buying this (Road Side Assistance) as an 'add-on' at the time of next insurance renewal. Worked pretty well for my car.
Even I ended up spending close to 1.5k, when both rims broke on a highway trip.
Ended up getting it back to Hyderabad which was 80kms away from the spot.

I completely forgot about the existence of Orange assist, but yeah 800 for a year is better than 1.5k for towing it once
Let me inquire about it here in Hyderabad.

I am thinking of getting a pair, checked out the following:

      Will these fit?

      RE continental gt mirrors

      Aftermarket bar end mirrors.

Bro, I think that's a great idea! I am yet to own the beast but this is the first thing that I am gonna do.. Check out the bike with handle bars.

Is orange assist service only limited HYD? Or is there in other parts as well, say GGN?

orange assist was launched at other cities way before hyderabad. they did not have this scheme available in hyderabad an year ago.
When i enquired with a ktm official a few months ago, i was told that it had just been launched in hyderabad.
Please check your nearest ktm svc or email ktm about the availability of orange assist. It's supposed to be a nation wide coverage so it doesn't matter if you picked up your bike in delhi and have a breakdown in hyderabad.. they might help you towing it to the nearest svc.
Again this has a few terms and conditions, so check those as well.

Thanks s1d for the info.. Will check it out! Seems to be a cheap ( not trustworthy) fall back option in the times of crisis [emoji6]

Third time I am asking. Does anybody have any experience with any of the svc"s in Pune. If yes ,then please do tell me which one is the better choice.

                • Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences: First week and 200Km- Issues and questions.

So I have done like 200Km in this first week and here are my impressions and issues.
                  1. Vibrations: Insane, hand numbing vibrations! I am trying hard to not lug the bike and keep it at higher RPMs. However, at 3500 to 5000 (where it stays a lot in Mumbai traffic) the vibes become quite bad. No leaks or unusual sounds that I can tell. Just the vibes. Am I riding it wrong? Is it endemic to the machines? Will it settle after the first service? Help!
                  2. Its a hoot to ride otherwise. Jackrabbit acceleration and serious power needs focus to ride but the smile factor is unbeatable.
                  3. It has a major drinking problem. While I understand no-one buys it for fuel economy my first tank went to low fuel warning within 200Kms'. Again I am hoping the first service will improve things. I am also keeping it ticking over at between the RPMs mentioned earlier.
                  4. A little coolant splatter from the coolant tank cap. I think someone sat on it and messed with it when I was in office because it was on 1st gear when I came down to ride home. No noticeable reduction in coolant level.
                  5. Lots of traffic lights challenges . I am refusing to take any up because of the running in and the confidence deficit in my own skill at this time, but young helmetless, flip-flop wearing boy-racers on Pulsars and CBR's and even 150's seem to feel the need to challenge the geared up fool on the nice bike. A young wisp of a boy, probably half my weight and risk-aversion and double my skill on a D200 smoked my arse on We Highway going northward. I still did not let the shift light blink.
                  6. How does one wash the damn thing? Regular bucket and washcloth? Hose down? I have been told pressure wash is a nono.

                  Thanks in advance fellows.

                    1. Hand numbing vibes? I didn't feel that much. Yeah, there are vibes since I come from the ultra smooth Unicorn, I know the difference, but nothing this extreme. And yeah, the vibes are more pronounced around 5-6k RPM.

                    6. Pressure wash is what they do at the SVCs. Only thing is, you(they) shouldn't aim at electrical components with high pressure. I just washed my semi-dirty bike with a bucket of water, a mug and a cloth. No problems.

Hand numbing vibes? I think it would depend where you are coming from. I graduated from an RX and I don't feel vibes are an issue on this bike.

In b2b traffic, 200kms for a tankful sounds just about right. If you don't have to idle/1st gear riding a lot then it improves.

Don't get into road racing. I was smoked by a TVS 50 but it doesn't mean anything. Ride for your own comfort, convenience and joy and not to prove anything to anybody

Hand Numbing vibrations? are your sure you are not talking about the CGT? I agree that the bike feels pretty rattly before first service and certainly you are not gonna get the refinement of a Honda's engine.. But is the vibrations that harsh? [emoji43]

Did you change the coolant and low grade Bajaj oil after the delivery? If yes, which coolant and Oil did you use?

You will obviously get many wanna bee racers and boy merely in their pajamas challenging to the bike but I think and as you quoted "a fully geared" dude like you will ALWAYS have the last laugh. [emoji6] it's okay to redline 1-2 per ride but make sure that you don't stay there for more than a second.. Need you vary your throttle response gradually in each gear. I find highways are the best for breaking in for any bike.

I have read that high pressure hose are serious NO NO, and I have also read that ppl do face electrical problems after they wash their bikes.. Need actual owner's input here.. If that the case I guess old school bucket and sponge should do the trick!

                          Peace!

I did only TD of D390. Felt vibes, but that's acceptable for a high CC single pot. If you drive Activa 1st and D390 next, you sure will say "It vibrates hell yes ". By the way, I took my Activa to KTM pro-biking to do TD

Avoid taking challenges at signals bro. If we take up, we might put those helmetless jack-$$$ in risk to death. Those are educated fools , ignore and enjoy the ride

No Idea what CGT is. And its not harsh or rattly. The bike sounds solid with no excess noises emanating from anywhere. Just the handlebars buzzing away. I haven't changed the oil or the coolant yet. Still thinking about it. I washed it this morning with a bucket and washcloth and saw no following electrical blips of any kind so that's sorted.

As mentioned I will get it looked at re: the vibes. I guess I will judge the mileage a little later in my ownership. It was just surprising how quickly it went from half full to low-fuel warning.

And for the record, I don't do the road racing thing. Its just amusing that they feel the need to come up beside me and gun their engines to tears and then blast away till... you guessed it, the next signal . But don't tell me you haven't been tempted. As my wife says "there is a limit to even your midlife crisis!"

                                Thanks for the responses, gentlemen.
CGT- Royal Enfield Continental GT. apologies for the acronym.

And yeah you got that right.. there is time and place for everything and roads are not meant for racing.

Judging by your posts, I think that your smart/matured enough not to be tricked by these posers (Road Racers). Happy riding mate! Wish you many miles and congrats on being 'Born' again. [emoji4][emoji4]
