Yep, you have heard it right. My horn has gone for a toss after pressure wash. Well, this was not the first time I have had it washed, but guess I ran out of luck

I had been getting my bike washed at car wash places with dedicated washing equipment from Bosch/Karcher etc.
It's been almost 1.5 yrs now and touchwood. No sensor issue till date.

Having said that, please avoid those direct high pressure hoses. They can even bend the radiator fins.

Does the new Duke 390 fix the rim cracking problem , its really hurting my buying decision and scares me should i buy the bike.
I was all set to buy the bike this weekend when i read about this issue. with all the positive additions KTM has done but this is the only thing that's concerning me.

            EDIT
read more here http://www.motorbeam.com/2014/09/bik...-alloy-wheels/ I am still thinking of going ahead to buy this bike with my fingers crossed and praying to god that everything works out well, also wanted to know if i can get good aftermarket alloys that i could use on the duke 390

Any thoughts on it would help.

Replace the tank shrouds, as it is almost comparable to the price of genuine Teflon coating Well, perks of owning something made in India

Hello, I guess, on buying this bike front, I was in your place from the quality perspective. I have been to every KTM office from GGN to Chandigarh..talked to numerous KTM owners here and in person. Almost all of them had assured me that the Rim Issue, Engine gasket problem and radiator issues have been sorted out. Though bike still runs hot but you would feel that in B2B traffic. RC390 runs more hot than Duke390. During my test drive, in normal conditions, I could feel my thighs were getting barbecued on RC390.

Sharath, bro can you please explain about what you said? Are you saying that complete tank needs to be replaced?

                    Cheers

Thanks for your valuable feedback on this , will take a test ride this Saturday and share my thoughts here.

Have been riding the ZMA since 2005 its almost 10 years now and its still a good bike but at times it does show its age and its high time i get a new ride.

Riding safely is my primary objective , its you and the vehicles surrounding you should be in no harm because of you.

He's talking about the plastic tank panel. The actual tank is covered by this plastic panel, which is cheap and pocket friendly to replace.
You need to buy the stickers too, coz you'll get only the blank panel.

I was one of those lucky owners who managed to crack the rims. This happened when the odo read 1300 kms.
I got the rims replaced with the new batch back then.
Now my odo reads 19k kms and have ridden over many pot holes post that incident.
                        Touchwood.

One thing I can assure you is, the minute you wring the throttle, you'll forget all the niggles.

I too have been driving Hero Honda R karizma ( back then it was hero Honda) the bike gave me absolutely no problem till date but let me warn you dude, engine refinement and relaxed position that we had on karizmas.. You are not gonna find it in KTMs.

Do let us know about your first impressions. Peace!

Hahaha.. Bro.. Your post made me grin ear to ear.. [emoji4][emoji4]

What about engine gasket weeping issue? Since your bike was from the initial first lot, did you face and engine weeping and shockers oil seal issue?

                            Thanks for reply bro!

Mine is not from the initial lot. It's from Feb-2014 stock.

I replaced engine gasket and both the fork oil seals under warranty.
After the replacements, Oil seals are keeping up good but the engine weeping issue is still there, which is something I can live with.
Not a major issue to loose your sleep over it.

By engine gasket, i assume you mean the valve cover gasket that's located at the top of the engine (the one with the two O-O shaped gasket)
Especially here in Hyderabad i noticed that these guys just apply sealant at the outside like someone patching up cement work
Always insist on replacing the gasket, and while replacing it, make sure the surfaces are cleaned thoroughly (maybe with some petrol/brake or carb cleaner) and then use a little bit of gasket paste along with the gasket ,especially around that O-O part and put it back together.
I had this done on my 200 and not a single leak ever since, the first leak seems to have occurred because the first time it was removed for another reason and a new gasket was not used. the gasket set now also includes the 4 rubber washers that go under the bolts which hold the valve cover.

My observation has been that it is mostly the 390's which use the motul 300v which seem to develop this leak. It also hit me that quite a few pulsar's had a gasket leak when they used FS oil especially the 300v.
