  • Thanks v1gnesh and NANOtechnology.
I will certainly make use of your detailed explanations.
Surprisingly, more than a year ago i faced the same starting problem but after few days everything was ok and remained so for a year or so.

    More on the starting problem.
    1. After some wiring work the starting problem has become less frequent.
    2. If a run my bike on a slope and start in 1st gear by suddenly releasing the clutch it has a better probability of starting up than kick-start.
    3. New CDI didn't fit-in so the TVS mechanic had to persist with the old cdi.
    4. I tried changing the starting coil, but it didn't work.
    5. There is no spark at all when this problem appears.
    6. Usually I have to wait anywhere between 5 mins to 20 mins for the bike to start again.
    7. My bike has a very weak battery and probably the connections too are messed up.
    8. Other then this once-in-10-days problem, my bike ALWAYS starts in the first kick.

    • In that case, connect the orange wire from the TCI to the Engine Kill Switch output. I was not aware that the FX/F2 did not have digital CDI. Newer must get better, not worse.
BTW, hows your Twin Cylinder power block moving you around Nano??

Try finding the yellow pole on the stator, it shouldn't cost more than 250 rupees at the very max.
If you can't source, or are willing to do a tci conversion then go for it.
Also do fix the RTR's tps switch too, it does make a difference.

Its not a cdi issue, its just that yellow pole, trust me

          @ Vignesh

It is at rest, have ridden only 1000 kms so far, now-a-days due to some social obligations I had been staying at home, or moving around in the cage...
I am planning a goa trip to do justice to the twin, but will have to wait for months to save that sort of money...

I searched extensively for it last weekend.. but the sellers/mechanics were like.. "wtf? you won't get single pole anywhere"
Most of them said that I'd have to purchase the entire stator which costs approx Rs. 2000.. (and that too is NOT available by the way)

I guess it should not be a big problem to find down south, where are you located ?

Besides the stator assembly too shouldn't cost more than 800 bucks.
Although if you plan to swap to TCI, the yellow pole would be disconnected altogether.

Its been a while, and I've had some differences with some of the auto electrical shops here, so it would be difficult for me to find a genuine one for you too.

I ask you again, decide what you want, do you just want to get rid of your starting problem, or you want to convert your bike to TCI.
TCI should anyways solve the problem completely.

                      • Happy New Year to All-hope you and your machines are going strong!
Quick question-does anyone know what are the values for inlet and exhaust valve clearances for F2? I couldn't find it in the manual.
The recent valve replacement coupled with wrong clearance settings has made the bike behave funnily once heated up-idle fluctuation, engine heating and loss of power.
                        Quench my thirst with gasoline!

                        • Happy New Year to everyone! My manual was misplaced during my 3rd free service and never to be found again. I own a 2002 TVS-fiero. Exactly 2 years ago my carb was behaving inappropriately. Hence resorted to Old Pulsar Carb BS26 as it was much much cheaper than a new fiero carb. Recently came through a specs and review of the fiero somewhere online. It clearly stated the the working of the CV nature of the carb in fieros. Now could anyone tell me if its better I buy a new fiero carb altogether?

                          • My experience with the pulsar carb isn't as good as it should have been.
I end up cleaning the carb almost every month.

As far as the performance is considered, there's no difference. As long as its been a while and you don't need to open up your carb again and again to clean it, its alright.
You can keep what you already have...

                            • Hey Nano. Thanks for the tip. So far no issues with the cheaper BS26 pulsar carb. Somehow I just don't feel the thump of a Suzuki fiero which mine isn't. Isn't never been the case. I've never ridden my bike real hard in all these 12 years. Maybe i've never abused the engine like the rest. Just slightly deviating my mind towards a complete paint job of the bike for the 1st time including replacement of worn out parts. one of the gas shocks (endurance) has an oil leak. Could you suggest anything that has a smoother cushion like ride. I never found the Endurance shocks to be comfy at all. They were more stiffer than on the pulsar. When i was at the garage I happened to stumble across YSS nitous shocks imported from Malaysia. The dude said they costed Rs 2800. I definitely do not want to blow so much. I just want a very pliant cushion ride which one does not get with OEM fiero shocks nor with Gas charged Pulsar Endurance shocks. Please Help me with this!!!!!
