I thought so too... I never did any adjustments before and it seemed all fine... but now with the new sprocket set I have to pay the mech a visit quite often.

Wow!!! that is a valuable piece of info...

the chain is well lubricated. how do we go about increasing the drive ratio? I have no idea. About revving with heavy loads, I often do that and you are probably right about the chain stretch thingy. It would be great if I got to do minor adjustments every 3 K kms ... as in every regular service visits.
Normally INCREASING ONE TOOTH in front sprocket is Equal to DECREASING THREE TEETH at the back sprocket.....so you can choose a front sprocket with ONE EXTRA tooth than what you already have...or choose a back(large) sprocket with THREE TEETH less...the effect is the same..
This will decrease your initial pickup, but will increase your top end, for the same RPM.

Great info bro... well to tell you the truth, the rear sprocket did have a tooth or two more than the stock one. Well I did not count then... I will do so again.

But this time I didnt change the oil filter (which i always change whenever I change the oil). so is it ok if I run my bike with the old oil filter for like 2.5K?
Tru4 is mineral oil, 20w40 grade. Recommended oil for our bikes. I change oil filter every alternate service so no issues with that.

There are semi/fully synthetic oils available, but not advisable for our old bikes. I tried Petronas fully synthetic oil once&it has caused the oil seal to leak. I would advise you to stick to normal mineral oil 20w40 grade.

I have been using Gulf Pride 4T Plus for a while and it seems quite good.
This is another good option, same 20w40 grade mineral.

            i completely disagree...
I've seen my chain becoming sooo loose at times that it remains bended from top as well as bottom...

besides even after a very very new set i still have to lube it and tighten it at-least after 2000 kms or less...

DO NOT go for semi synthetic or fully synthetic oils..
my investment in POWER 1 AND POWER1 RACING, was the biggest mistake i've ever made...

go for ELF moto pro or gold..
its 20w40, and so far the best oil available in the market for this bike, however its not advisable to keep the same oil for 5000 kms, oil change should be done at 2.5k to 3.5k, so that the engine remains healthy, and free from and carbon or related problems...

                hello psr.
i am good, i haven't been here much as i didn't have anything to comment on or say...
bike is running very very good, as you have told, it really was a permanent solution, every other bike i ride feels very weak machinery (150cc)
I've ridden a stock rtr 160 for an entire day, and i must say, my bike is way too ahead that that apart from braking...
however now its time for me to change my suspension setup, but i might not do it sooner...

i am collecting money to buy a new lid..
besides i've checked my mileage, it gives 40~41 under standard conditions..
way too good than i expected..

                • are u sure the TVS True4 oil grade is 20w40?? because the mech had opened the bottle in front of me and it was written 10w40 if i am not mistaken!!

                  • Well the oil colour in the bottle was golden. the ASS mechs mostly put in fresh oils from their barrels supplied by TVS and the color of that oil is red!!!!

                      yes you are right.
                      TVS TRU4 is definitely 10w40
regarding the red oil or almost blackish red oil used by the ASS people is veedol.
do not use that oil, elf is the best one, trust me...

                      our bike's manual says 20w40..

NANO bro, it's good to hear from you.

Glad to hear your bike is doing great!!!. So you got all the power you needed and feel it is better than RTR 160. 40 - 41 kmpl is great mileage too, and you have already covered 2300 kms. Why do you feel you need to change the suspension setup? Fiero suspension not up to the mark with that extra boost of power?

                            • Guys! My Fiero sometimes skips gears … that is specially when shifting from first to neutral. I mean it falls into a slot that is neither first nor neutral … sometimes between second and first … always when downshifting. Never did that before.

Can anyone shed some light there please?

                              • @ chief that is when u put first gear from neutral and then when u just r about to put it in 2nd ur bike is still is in the 1st gear?? i have this prob. but i never care about it!!! it happens very rarely. you will have to make sure that when u put ur bike in 1st gear, and after engaging it the gear lever is absolutely stiff. and if its not, though the 1st gear will be engaged and when ur about to slot into 2nd, it will still be in 1st. i hope u understood!! this is also applicable whilst downshifting. plz check ur clutch setting and make sure it has a proper play. i dont think it there is anything wrong with the gearbox!
