That seems like missing to me.Describe it in detail and do check with your palm at the exhaust end pipe to see if there's any oily soot coming out when the bike's revved.Originally posted by chief ashman View Post================================================== ==
Gixxer bro, I did what you said this morning... the bike does not miss or sputter .... but the sound goes high and low at times. Did it again after a 7 km ride... the sound too is ok and does not tend to sputter... will do it again in the evening.

Ok... how long do you think I have to rev for the check? will do a proper check again and let you know?

Not too long ,just open the throttle to the max a few times and observe. Then while you are revving keep your palm a few inches from the end pipe of the exhaust and notice if there's any oily soot left on your palm .Easiest thing would be to take a pic of the plug and put it here.Originally posted by chief ashman View Post================================================== ======

Note: The missfiring was more last night as I was going home ... got me scared. It might have been caused by the high revs I did to check the sound. Does it affect the engine?Originally posted by gixxer_junkie_m View PostNot too long ,just open the throttle to the max a few times and observe. Then while you are revving keep your palm a few inches from the end pipe of the exhaust and notice if there's any oily soot left on your palm .Easiest thing would be to take a pic of the plug and put it here.

How do you expect a normal Champion plug to last for that long buddy?Originally posted by chief ashman View PostNote: The missfiring was more last night as I was going home ... got me scared. It might have been caused by the high revs I did to check the sound. Does it affect the engine?
Get an iridium&have peace of mind for 30-40K kms.!
@All: Btw, I traced the RHS switch assembly connector&put it back. The engine kill switch+headlamp is working fine now-the mech.had disconnected it to be on the safe side!
No changing any switch assemblies now!
The wet stalling problem is something else, would like to hear if anyone has faced this.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

@saravjit: - I still feel ur problem is the spark plug cap. I too have faced this same issue and it is a nightmare in rains. once I had to push my bike for 2 kms at night due to this issue. try one thing, pour a jar of water on the spark plug cap and see if the problem occurs

Chief Ashman, if you have a spark plug running more than 10,000Kms expect trouble...If it is Champion expect more trouble..I had used Champion in the past in my cars, and bikes, with very bad result.....I found NGK to be the most stable and RELIABLE spark plug...even after 25,000Kms in my car and bike they still continued to work without any lowering of performance..So go for suitable NGK ORIGINAL PLUG.

I got the adapter changed at the service this time buddy, the problem occured immediately after that when they washed the bike!Originally posted by bprags View Post@Sarvajit: - I still feel ur problem is the spark plug cap. I am not sure it's the plug. But i agree with you on the NGK plugs i still have the stock plug which came with the bike ,a NGK R CR7E it ran for 20k and still is as good as new.The only thing is it got oil fouled but it still sparks without any issue what so ever!!Originally posted by psr View PostChief Ashman, if you have a spark plug running more than 10,000Kms expect trouble...If it is Champion expect more trouble..I had used Champion in the past in my cars, and bikes, with very bad result.....I found NGK to be the most stable and RELIABLE spark plug...even after 25,000Kms in my car and bike they still continued to work without any lowering of performance..So go for suitable NGK ORIGINAL PLUG.
The only reason i ran it without changing ,was once the JV with suzuki went the plugs on fieros weren't NGK ones and i couldn't find them at all. Then once unicorn came it had NGK R CPR8E and it's a hotter plug. But since it was a NGK i changed over to that till NGK came to india. Now it's a absolute pleasure to keep experimenting ,with no shortage of NGK spark plugs supply and in variety of different heat ranges.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

@ Sarvajit, dude regarding ur wet stalling problem, does ur ignition key hole(where u put the ignition key) have that mettalic flap intact?? i mean does it retract back to its position (closed) when u remove the key?? if the keyhole is left open even when the key is not inserted water must have entered and may have short-circuited the inside electrical assembly. just get it checked with ur mech before u actually remove the assembly.
dude the same thing once had happened. i was unaware that the keyhole flap was not retracting bak even if i removed the key. So due to this, water had entered (it was monsoon) and then when i gave it for routine servicing(a few days after monsoon had started), the bike would start and stop after running for a few kms. even if it were running it would give jerks(short pauses in between)!! the mech thought it was a prob wit the kill switch. but later on he found out the actual prob.

That was the first thing I ruled out buddy-the lockset is fairly new-replaced last year. Still thinking of possible causes!Originally posted by tintin708 View Post@ Sarvajit, dude regarding ur wet stalling problem, does ur ignition key hole(where u put the ignition key) have that mettalic flap intact?? i mean does it retract back to its position (closed) when u remove the key?? if the keyhole is left open even when the key is not inserted water must have entered and may have short-circuited the inside electrical assembly. just get it checked with ur mech before u actually remove the assembly.
