  • wow didn't expect these many answers, thanks for the valuable suggestions.I will be having an in-dept meet with my cousin tomorrow.
Well i might ditch the alloys from the list as it would create a deep hole in my account.Basic mods as of now would be the round headlight and disc brakes and a good set of tyres as the bike currently has stock tvs in the front and ralson at the rear. Will go for m35 in the front(most prolly will swap it out from my unicorn) and pilot sporty for the rear 100-90-18.The body parts are not broken but has scratches, though thats not an issue.
@gixxer will the rtr cdi work fine on a stock fiero?

PS-got my 220 today, will prolly buy the fiero in a few days.

    Thanks again.

Do not swap tires..it is a bad idea,...in all probability both bikes will have tire run out problem...ie.,tires may not seat properly and lead to a little wobble at particular speeds.
RTR has TCI/IDI and not CDI.It is a different technology. You can get it done if you have a knowledgeable mechanic and electrician. Gixxer had done it and he can help you in this regard.

HHHmmmmm.......Gixxer was helped by Zen TVS in Bangalore, and also another Bike Electrical Mech....Technically it is possible by SVC, but whether they will do it or not, I don't know..you must follow up with them.

It's a simple enough a job for someone who knows, but TVS service guys won't have any idea about it.You have to go to an auto electrician for it ,or an mech who knows about it.

It's a better upgrade for the money needed for it.The advantages will be a better mapping,no rev limiter and the benefits of TCI/IDI.Which will improve the combustion efficiency to give better performance and mileage.

I am not an hands on guy when it comes to things electrical except the lighting, fuses etc.But by observing i can learn,so if you are a DIY type ,i'll let you know about it.

The modification won't need any soldering or wiring change,so you can imagine ,it's not complicated.

You will need to buy the ignition coil of the RTR too which combined will be like,1,100 bucks+100 bucks labor max.

The TCI/IDI units are color coded,RTR180 is green.I50 black and 160 grey. They all cost the same.

The CDI of fiero is extremely reliable. But TCI/IDI is even more reliable and hence is used in aircraft engines. You can guess why,it won't be a good experience if you find the single engine plane dying on you when you are in the sky.

The CDI is used in racing, but now a days even superbikes have TCI.It's as psr put it a boon for single cylinder applications.

                • I am not the first one Mash and bprags have it since a long time . God knows how many fieros are on roads with it.
It was the first thing done by tuners and racers to their fieros when the Apache 150 came out with it.

Depends on present CC and what you plan to do, with in immediate future.
Black TCI is for APACHE 150..GREY is for RTR 160...GREEN is for RTR 180.
You have to change the Ignition coil also...
                        Gixxer had explained it clearly.
For stock FIERO 150 you must use the APACHE 150 BLACK TCI
If you are going to overbore engine say 180cc or above, then go for RTR 180 GREEN TCI.

                        • Guys, anybody has any idea about my query? ... sloution wanted. Thanks!!!

Well the bike accelerates well, reaches 60 in no time and the engine feels good, the sound is sweetly loud, feels reliable, mileage is good and everyting. Just that choking feel sometimes under heavy acceleration... usually on an uphill climb.

This morning I was riding to work... was just about to overtake a Bajaj Eliminator with a lady pilion... that's when the Eliminator slipped on the wet road ... the bike turned on the road and I crashed into the front wheel. Lucky for me ... the speed was not that much and I did not fall down. The Eliminator fell down and was leaking fuel ... Nothing happened to my bike ... I was in a hurry so I left.

The bike's running rich like the way i run my bike. It's fine no need to worry the soot is dry.The center electrode will become lighter on highway speeds. This color suggests that the engine will be cool when ripped.
The thing is your plug is bosch twin electrode one which is very hot compared to the stock NGK R CR7E,so in my experience it used to be white when used in my engine.Remember the twin electrode one is hotter because it has a protruding center electrode,so ideally on this plug the color should be tan or dark tan. Then again my bike was on CDI when it was in this state, since you are on TCI too get it leaned out a bit if you want to.

                              I am currently running NGK R CR9E.
