Looking for 15w50 Engine oil from Motul or Gulf Pride & it seems finding either one is difficult & now I am contemplating on going for Shell Advance Semi synthetic 10W40.

1600kms of Road trip planned this weekend starting from Thursday, Can't wait for thursday More

@ gixxer - What happened to Carb you went to Inquire on Sat ?
Good thing that you got it richened a bit.Go for either MOTUL or GULF or if it's to be w40,then i'd recommend YAMALUBE only.

Regarding the carb,he kept on saying that it wont match our bikes,so i didn't push it.But it's worth buying for sure,if he agrees to sell it for <800.

My query was whether P220 piston pin to Crown(top height) will be the same as the ZMA one...Since Mr.Murthy had cleared the doubt I guess one can safely go for it..
Thanks again for remembering, and the effort...
A liner usually is bored .5mm on each bore and it's never bored for the 3d time or bored to a max of 1mm , because if it gets any thinner than that reliability will be affected and when the engine heats up it will start leaking compression.
I don't know whether ZMA has that thick a liner to take a 1.5mm over bore.

With regard to piston pin to crown height question,or it's measurement,i can say that ZMA and p220 pistons can be put on a fiero. That should mean ,p220 piston can be put on a ZMA.

Ok will check out since this goes more than the 4th oversize.

This link shows that it can be done on ZMA bore same as CRF 230.

Now my question is, i am thinking of removing both the air scoops on either sides of the tank... so wat r ur suggestions? the right one vibrates a lot.. today, me and my mech tried to find out the solution but in vain... somehow the right scoop is touching the tank at a particular point... the culprit was the hole in which the screw in the front side is fitted into (it is joint at the tank). he tried to align it properly but it could not be done.. the scoops fit, but it is contact with the tank and hence the vibration! i have already changed the right one 3times because it breaks off at the joint itself due to vibration... Now he has given some form packing where it is coming in contact....

what would be the ill effects if its removed? mech said it is no harm in removing it. but i am a bit worried that some parts underneath the tank may become visible if seen from the front if scoops are removed...

          plz help!
          The stopper is missing-get it fixed&it won't vibrate/break anymore.

My hunt for W50 Oil went in Vain as I could not get the same, so bought Gulf Pride 4t Plus 20W40 which I had used previously & In my experience of using both Motul & Gulf, I have liked Gulf the more.

Good choice...i am also using the same Gulf pride 4T plus in my ZMA for the past 600 Kms after draining the HH oil....I had done 110 Kmph on the high way and the engine never got hot and was super smooth..It is now returning 34Km/L in city and 43 Km/L on the high way...the oil still looks and feels new.

Obsolutely correct psr, I had heard so much on this oil for a long time & took the Plunge of using this on Fiero & I was very very happy, Motul is no doubt a good oil but when it comes to smoothness at higher revs Gulf scores well, the Gulf oil is just a bit thicker to Motul & that does makes it presence felt at higher revs.

It meets Jaso MA Specifications, My first choice was to go for Gulf pride 4t 20w50 which also meets API SL Jaso MA speicifications but couldn't get it

I think Bangalore is less hot than chennai and so w50 may slow down your revving..a w40 will be more suitable under the colder Bangy conditions...If you are a tourer, then a w50 will be good for the engine.

True that, I am not a full fledged tourer but I do travel a lot with in the city Itself, In my CBZ W50 helped me a lot to overcome Vibes & smoother cruising ability at higher revs, I want to try once & see how it turns out in fiero.

Lets see, & coming to Chennai & Bangalore, now a days Bangalore Climate also is changing although it Isn't so hot as Chennai

Yes a w50 gives better protection under the stop and go traffic of city, which is when the engine is more strained.
Last November when i came to Bangalore i had a taste of it's climate..Dust everywhere, take diversions, roads dug up ,insane traffic, and a much warm weather.....Hope the digging is all finished and dust settled for good...I had been seeing the city being systematically destroyed of its greenery and beauty....since I come once in a while every year..
The only good thing is the raised highway after the electronic city.

Exactly, I shall check & update here the results of using W50, or we can wait for Gixxer to post his review on this as he has just put the W50 Motul Mineral oil.

Yes, North & East Bangalore has been growing very rapidly & roads have been dug up with lot of dust around those places, I stay in South Bangalore & this is still Pensioner's paradise & not so much of High rise buildings yet.

Change is Inevitable, so whatever is happening we have to take it as happening for good, one good thing is the summer Isn't too long as other parts of India & it starts raining by now while rest of the country is yet to receive the full fledged summer.

EC Flyover is very good, saves precious amount of time for us.
