    • @psr: My bike's clutch plates are less than 10K kms.old&were good when I got them checked at the last service a few months back.
However, the bike's clutch slips quite a bit in the 1st&2nd gear, especially after the engine is heated up. What could be the reason-clutch springs?

@abhilashabhi12: Congrats on the ride! Please help me to tune my bike also to cruise at high speeds!

I'll tell you guys what happened yesterday.Abhi came to my place yesterday looking totally crestfallen, like the earth below his feet had disappeared!!He grabbed a chair and sat holding his head in his hands. He was shaking his head and mumbling incoherently about something and i had no idea as to what could cause him such agony!
I thought for a moment and suddenly it struck me!! ,only one thing could have caused such agony to him!! and it can't be any other thing!!.His family and friends must have hidden Silk Smitha's death!!!! till now and the poor guys must have learnt about it!! Hence the shock!! I then understood what he was going through and i told him to take it like a man!! Then i put a elvis track and told him to visualize Rathi dancing to it(it always works for me ).
Then abhi snapped out of it and told me that " There's no justice left in this world anymore,no wonder world is going to end in 2012!!This is Kaliyug!! evil is walking the earth!! " i told him that shit happens bro, look at the brighter side Silk Smitha died in her prime and before you could see her aged looks!! so suck it up and get back to your life. Then he told me his rant was against a 223cc bike with 120 section phat tyre!! getting more mileage than his 150 cc bike!!! Shreeni's bike was giving more mileage than his bike!!
      ROFLMAO!
      Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Most probably it is the engine oil, because you say it happens only when it heats up...try using a close value oil ,ie., 20w50 mineral and see...I hope mech had not roughened up the clutch metal plates with emery paper to make it grip more...because on the contrary it will slip more. IT is the flat ,groove less plates which offer more grip...
If you want you can try a experiment which had worked for me always..even in my ZMA...
buy 10 gms of pure Boric Acid from pharmacy, and mix it with 30 to 40 ml of good 2T oil. Warm up the engine and then add this to the engine oil, and immediately drive for minimum 25 Kms. do not change oil for the next 600 Kms, and over the next 500 kms you will see the bike engine transform to smooth ,good torquey engine ...some have got better FE upto 10%...
I personally get 11 km/L city and 15 on high way in my Lancer and on ZMA 34 in city and 43 on highway at 110 Kmph...A slight clutch slip in my ZMA is gone now...

          Thanks for your replies
The carb is not running rich… it was initially set a little rich by the mech which I reduced (two turns anticlockwise from closure) Compression seems fine as the bike responds with a healthy kickback when kicked. How do we check for a compression leakage anyway??? PSR’s theory of a clogged or tattered air filter could have something … I have not changed the air filter since the bike way bought almost 10 years ago (10 years in July). Gixxer is right about the condition of the previous clutch plates … the mech said they were still usable. Could the oil filter also play some part here?
Also I am hearing some creaking sound when the bike is pulled back when turned off … could it be an issue of a loose or over-tightened drive chain?
Some sort of creaking or squeaking sound is also coming from the swing arm … needs oiling? Never heard the sound before.
And oh! I have ordered for a new mud-guard ... it should be here in about 15 - 20 days ...

          Cheers!!! & Keep Riding!!!

            Thanks bro

You just need to put one tooth bigger GB sprocket & you are ready to cruise at 80,85kmph & yeah don't forget to use a good quality Jasoma2 specified 20w40 or 15w50 engine oil

"They don't make em like that anymore" hold's good when it comes to good "wide chassis" on 2 legged variety of SBK's With the size zero trend ruining a whole generation of chassis and designs!!

I am baffled bro! 2 turns anticlockwise from closure should make it run super lean! Stock setting is 5.5 turns from closure and still Abhi's bike is running like it's end is near.
Cancel the order and go for the bajaj CT100 front mudguard.

Yes they are no longer robust and strong, and are made of weak material..and even one bump in a hole is enough to bend the chasis, and needs mending ...
It is the globalization which had ruined it. Now everything is flimsy and not durable, and you can't expect long rides on these chasis anymore...reliability and smoothness are no longer there......thin and showy exteriors hide many flaws inside...some even need overhauling with less use...like re-boring..
                  Sighhhhh..those were the days

Yeah,i agree that two legged and two wheeled varieties are similar these days
Guys are bulking up at gyms and their rides are getting "thin and showy "(nothing underneath the packaging) the relationships too don't last long, because of unreliability Copying anorexic models in the development phase makes their chassis growth getting stunted!! Without good wide chassis, what's the pleasure derived from riding them?

...and don't forget the bore also becomes weak soon ,and leads to seizures
But there is still hope......SBK s are still made for people looking for refined, reliable robust rides..like us..

It's difficult to lay our hands on SBK's(Rathi Agnihotri/BMW S1000RR) these days with exorbitant price and duties!! I prefer getting a good wide chassis with potential and 'tuning' her to my tastes!!

                            • @ sarvajit.

I did ask the mech to tighten the chain sprocket, it didn't disappear the sound, its not actually a single KHATT sound, but a slip of the bell or something, feels like metal brushing metal.
However its not coming from my bike now, so i don't need to rectify it, just want to know the reason as why its happening.

                              @ gix

There's something i did to my bike that you might like

I've further lowered my handlebar, its almost flat now, and hence it have widened slightly more, its much comfortable (maybe i got used to it) and makes everything stable.
The bike feels big as well as strong now, if my tyres were good enough, i could easily scrape my Knees on the roads (instead of my footpegs like always) with these new rear-sets.

                              @ all

I got the bike serviced and changed the oil to ELF moto 4 gold, now its (as expected) much smoother.
Body parts have started chattering, rest all is well and good.
Besides I've even got the Alternator serviced

Someone please gift me a set of tyres and body parts

Is there any PERMANENT solution to the clutch slippage ??????
Giving a lot to a fiero.
