      Psr, its okie, anand is a go(o)d freind of mine & Pulling legs is Okie, I pity him he cannot talk about his own bike since she has to undergo heart transplant & suitable heart isn't available due to obvious reasons

                    Finally today my girl got the bigger 29mm carb and she's performing/screaming like a porn star.

                    It was a long wait indeed and i owe her a big apology.It had been over a month and half since i had given the money to ZEN TVS to procure me either 29 or the 32mm carb.Yesterday i took the money back,it was the second time this happened.
                    So after so many options being tried out to get a carb for cheap or a used 32mm one,i finally took the decision which i should have taken the day the big-bore modification was done.That is today i went to Popular Bajaj and bought the pulsar 180 UG4's 29mm carb.It's cost 2,300 Rs.The 32mm carb of the p220 was just 500 Rs more,but i backed out of the idea as it needed a installation of a K&N kinda filter and that's because of the carb being bigger needed it to be placed further away from the chassis back bone.
                    So it would have needed further modifications to be made to the intake manifold etc,as the carb needs to be upright and stable.That is if the manifold length was to be increased,it needed to be stiff otherwise the carb would vibrate and cause foaming inside the bowl.In short,it needed lot of modifications to be done.

                    Now coming to the p180 carb,there is actually a difference between the p150 latest iteration which also has a 29mm carb and cost's the same.

                    The difference is,the p150's 29mm carb looks like a bored out 26mm carb,that is it's venturi is very thin,were as the p180 carb's venturi is very thick.That is both the carb's have 29mm venturi but the p180 carb has a bigger outer diameter in comparison to the p150 one,because of a thicker venturi wall dimension.

                    This means that the p180 carb can be bored out by another 1.5mm to make it into an 32mm carb. The option is very much there.

                    Now the stock carb of the fiero as Psr had said was choking the engine and couldn't take a bigger main jet.Today my bike is flying with a 110 main jet(stock p180 has 112.5 main) after trial and error method that is.Were as the same 110 main jet on the stock fiero carb felt powerless!!

                    The power increase is felt right off the initial revs to the top end.The throttle feels light and engine feels very much like it's freed up,that is now the breathing has improved and it feels like as though it's got a new hotter cam.

                    After some sleepless nights spent thinking of when the bigger carb will arrive,the days spent searching for a mech who can get me one,the end less wait,the n number of phone calls per day,the stress of seeing her suffer, now i finally feel relieved.I've freed my girl up,and hearing her scream was worth the money spent on it.
                    Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

                      Congratulations on taking the decision after a long time...Now you realise what Venturi size and velocity is all about....BS 29 is the ideal carb for your upsized engine..if you had gone to BS 32 you would have lost the acceleration from the low end,that you are enjoying now.

                        Jetting is not a funny business the freaking things kept me awake at night surfing the net for info as to what's causing what.
                        I am still not sure 100% as to whether my girl's stock carb has problems or not,because a smaller venturi sized carb of the unicorn(24mm)takes a 115 main jet and a 28mm cbz extreme has 125 main?
                        The increase in performance right off the idle could be because of a bigger pilot combined with a thinner taper needle!!
                        The fiero carb is more complicated than the others,as it has a secondary diaphragm,which when removed causes the bike to run rich and if it's ruptured or leaking air then the bike starts missing.But my girl's stock carb had no secondary diaphragm issues!! So i am still not sure as to what and where the problems are.
                        We have tried running the engine without the airbox that is drag bike style and the engine was sucking air so hungrily, like it was going out of fashion!!
                        and still it would miss with a bigger main jet on the stock carb!!
                        This whole thing scared me from even thinking of going for a K&N filter!!

                        • Another thing about jetting/carb tuning/diagnosing is,you can't just find out the tune by revving the bike in neutral,that is there will be slight missing or two when revved in neutral and it disappears on actual running/gunning the engine on road.
                          Regarding the venturi velocity and the engine not being able to handle a bigger 32mm venturi.The engine is pumping air so furiously,like in being scary and violent.So even the venturi velocity cant be fixed as the culprit with the stock fiero carb,because as there was no air box at all !! The only mistake i've made is i tried that thing in the garage and not on the road.So on the road the slight missing when the stock carb was on 125 main with the air box removed might have disappeared.

                          • Then the real funny thing is when the bike was taken on highway,a few months back and gunned with a 125 main. It was on stock carb that is.I checked the plug after the missing happened and it showed that the engine was running lean!! and it had a stock air box!!when used in city the plug was dark the way it should be.

                            Then again a CV carb is a simple thing!!

                            Manifold is ok and so are the electricals!! I simply haven't been able to crack ,what's wrong with the stock fiero carb.

                              It was you who asked me to plonk in the same carb with my 180 mod, and your doing it now, after almost 6 months ???

                              i heard that p180 had a 117.5 main jet.
                              Giving a lot to a fiero.

                                I had sent you links on carb tuning and about engines...if you want you can try putting a plastic sleeve inside the BS 29 venturi to reduce it to 26mm ,and see what happens...
                                You still have the stock Carb, you can try it with the 125 main jet and air box removed.
