Go for Escorts battery 2.5A which costs 450 or 500rs & comes with 18 months warranty, I am using the same from last 3 Months.

Any words of wisdom / advice?

I've learnt to ride without a horn and can actually ride pretty well without honking. My 2 cents towards curbing noise pollution.
After 2 bad experiences with Amco over acidic batteries, I rode my bike for a year without the battery. The tacho used to fluctuate a lot obviously. Finally, I got an Amaron 2.5aH sealed battery&my problems were solved.
However, as an after effect, the tacho needle still vibrates a bit at the 6K mark, though there is nothing wrong with the battery/RR. The other electricals were also overhauled recently.
So, there will be some small side effect in the future is what I mean to say. Rest is your call.
If you are looking for the most reliable replacement, Amaron sealed is the way to go. I got it for around 700 bucks.

        Thanks Sarvajit.

I'll go with Amaron. I switched to Amaron for both my cars after the factory fitted exide's died. Very good batteries as they hold the charge for a long time and do not require any maintenance.

        • With the RTR's head, you will need to replace your exhaust too, or maybe just cut off the exhaust's inlet and re-make another one to fit the stock exhaust in the extended exhaust port.

          • An Update:

With the service. change of clutch plates, clutch cables, engine oil and carb cleanup, my bike is now very very smooth... infact I had not ridden such a smooth old fiero in months or even a year of two. The bike pulls a heavy pilion with ease as if no one was riding behind. acceleration is good. The sound is like that of a satisfied purrrring / slightly growling lion.

Just that rattling mudguard... I have ordered for a new one.... should be coming sometime this month. if it does not, then I will do as Nano said (remove the metal bracket) [But Nano bro... the mudguard is broken in two places right where the bracket is... is that a thing of concern?] or find a Samurai or Shogun or other ones that fit. Can anyone tell me which is the best fit?

What do you expect man, bike has been stopped almost more than 5 yrs back & we should be happy atleast we are getting spares even if it late, best bet is to keep stock of pads when available

Good to know that your bike is doing great chief, coming to the mudguard bracket thing, i asked you to remove it, as you said your suspension is giving out that THUD sound, it tends to happen if the bracket is bent or not 100% symmetric.
If the rattling sound is coming from the mudguard cracks due to vibrations, then it should be changed.

I don't have any idea of any other direct fits, gixxer would know better.

Either ways, body parts are difficult to source, lucky for me as long as Vishal is around, spare parts won't be much of a concern.
I do need to replace my mudguard, my left and right body panels, battery and air box cover, also the tail-lamp, but i have assumed that none of these will be available, and anyways when the bike handles and pulls effortlessly and with much ease, simultaneously powering the Brightest 12v Headlamp bulb in the world, these things don't matter much.

Giving a lot to a fiero.

ya i know that we still are getting the parts even after the production has stopped, but o think there is a rule passed out by the courts saying that even after production of any particular vehicle which has stopped there should be supply of spare parts for 8-10yrs. this, i was told by my SVC manager...

Thier is & over the years the no comes down & stock in each SVC may not be available, Best bet is to try out the local market.

For me, I have got even smallest of small parts in local market when ASC told they may not be able to help to get Immediately & it will take 15-20 days to get from Delhi.

PS - this was with my CBZ & For fiero I haven't yet had any problems * touchwood

                            • hey what if i remove the air scoops on either sides of the tank??? over the past 8 yrs i have changed the right side air scoop panel for like 3 times... its because of vibrations the joints where the nut near the handle bar, breaks off!!! now with the current one, its fine but with a lot of vibrations and hence gives out a very irritating noise when traveling at a high speed..

now i was wondering if this one also breaks, i have made up my mind not to buy another one because a single piece is damn costly- 300rs or so...

now what would be the plus and minus pts if i remove both of them (i.e if one of them breaks off). I remember to have once seen a F2 without the airscoops and it looked fine....
