  • sorted the electrical issue finally.
now everything works like a charm.
tried again to put up that mudguard holder still the suspension didn't move.
i threw it away, lets see how long it works fine.

the front brake doesn't work well still, got rid of the air bubbles and other stuff, it has improved but not upto the mark, will live with it until sometime and then get it done right later.

besides the ride has become smoother, very smooth indeed, knocking has decreased to a great extent under hard throttle opening, bike feels good to ride, feels much much smoother, vibrations have almost disappeared.
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

I got the new spark plug installed ... did a check before the installation with both the plugs and the new one definitely seems to spark more. I also got a new brake lever installed as with the last one the round tip had broken off. Got a new brake shoe for the hind wheel and the crunch is definitely there. With the new spark plug, I did a rev test.... when parked in neutral and revved, the high and low sound is still there when revved to the max limit. I wonder why!?!

... but as I rode to work, the misfiring was not there. Although I cound not rev really hard due to traffic. I guess the initial problem is sort of solved for now... I will try out the acid test this evening ... by going on that narrow, steep inclination with twists and turns at high revs. That will let me know the situation. Because yesterday, as I was climbing the slope, I revved hard and the bike actually came to a halt. I had to kick start mid-hill.

About the high / low exhaust note while max revving on neutral, the mech says I might have to get the coil / wiring / CDI checked with a proper coil mech. I will probably wait a day or two with the current setup before going there. The mech has given me the location of the coil mech.

      What do you guys say?

What if I need to change the CDI? Fiero CDI is expensive and might be difficult to source out. Can I go for RTR 160 TCI / CDI? if the answer is yes, what are the things that I will have to purchase? and the approx cost?

Thanks guys, you have been a big help. Cheers!
You are not listening buddy,it looks likely that the mech and his recommended auto electrician will extort money from you.

Please for the nth time take a pic of your old plug and put it here.I agree that spark plugs are cheap ,but they are not fragile things to be replaced at every change in weather. They are made to last inside the combustion chamber.

What's next? spark plug was replaced ,now it looks like coil's turn and then the CDI?

Ask him to get the bike washed and the metal parts with diesel. Then it'll be clear as to which is rust and which is not.

Rather than rust it looks like cow dung to me

The bike looks ok.The chassis, rear foot rest assembly, crash guard ,engine and head looks fine except for some oil leak.As i said get the bike washed ,then it'll be clear.

Nope dude,if either of the two ,the CDI or HT/Ignition coil fails, bike won't start.

That is cheap, seriously the bike looks well maintained and once it's washed and carb looks covered in patina or dust,so get that cleaned too and it should be fine.

Would make a good buy if the crank case isn't rusted.

I realized today that the problem is getting more frequent... infact when I revved the bike on an uphill climb, the bike actually stopped today. It could be the spark plug or the sparkplug cap... but the mech says that since the firing is going on at the sparkplug level, that means the cap is not the problem. Well guys, I am ready to try out everything, but let's be sensible and try out one thing at a time... So spark plug will be replaced tomorrow. So...

is the CPR7EA-9 the right one?
Then ask the genius,if the spark is coming to the plug adapter, how is it reaching there? maybe it's flying through the air? It has to pass through CDI and Ignition coil before going to plug adapter.

crank case isnt rusted,it needs new tyres, its running on ralson tyres, needs new battery, about the carb i have a bs29 lying with me,needs a good service, chassis mite require painting, tank has lots of scratches,i havent opened the seat or the side panels so cant comment on the condition.About maintenence the owner hasn't serviced the bike regularly maybe once in 3 yrs or so,the bike looks good because it gets washed daily.Expecting total damage of 10 to 15grands.

Gixxer bro, I have replaced the plug with a new NGK which is sparking good now. I suppose the electricals are fine too, otherwise the bike would not have started. The bike starts easy now and the lighting is god too. Although doing the electricals test on a proper machine or something makes sense. What do you think about the high and low tones when revved at neutral? Now that the carb has been cleaned, plug replaced and all.

at 20K it looks like a good buy to me. It's not been ridden much, it's still got a lot of punch left.
