but yes, having a full tank, u tend to ride ur bike more and more!!!!
Yes, that is because lesser petrol evaporates on a full tank.

Man, my bike is more than 7yrs, 79,000kms, still no problems either!!! i mean its amazing!!! i think i could use this bike (if hopefully part availability is not an issue) i could use it for another 7 yrs!! i dont know what to say!!

Finding spares has become more and more difficult. There is often long waits for parts to arrive. If the supply didn't cease, we could easily maintain a Fiero for 10 more years.
Sad to hear about the silencer. Mine is also great as of now, but they
really should keep stock. They are supposed to keep stocks of spares for 15 years minimum from date of manufacture, whether or not the vehicle is in production.
I was discussing the same thing over phone with gixxer_junkie_m&in both our places, the wear&tear items are easily available, but body panels are tough to come by.

    • Friends, it looks like my bike's carb is a goner.I have tried every damn thing possible and even got it tuned by a co machine at the authorized service center and the sputtering problem hasn't gone. They are saying there's a problem with the carb and it needs to be replaced. To rule out other things i got the whole bike's electrical checked at Ruby auto electrical works and they are reputed to be honest and the best in business. The people at ZEN TVS had always said it wasn't electrical and it had to do with the carb but to rule out the possibility i got the coil,pulser,rectifier,TCI/IDI and ignition coil checked. They tried it out with my original CDI ,a FIERO CDI which they had with them and the problem persisted.
As it is i had to change to a bigger carb ,so it's time to do that now.The carb's slide, diaphragm, jet needle ,needle jet, main jet and pilot jets were checked and nothing's wrong with them. Our fiero has a small diaphragm too and that was also checked and by the way the authorized dealers have no clue about modifications what so ever! and there was a guy from TVS's hosur plant when i was talking with the owner of the dealership,a management guy obviously and he was surprised to see and hear about the kinda things that were being done. The owner of the dealership told me a new fiero carb costs 5000 Rs(like i am going to buy one ) and he was shocked to hear that RTR bores, carb etc were being used on fieros!! .Needless to say, it's wise not to play around with the carb much ,for ex, if even a thread goes and if you get it re-done at lathe they might ruin the taper of the whole orifice and carb will become useless.

Gixxer bro, I think you should get a RTR 180 carb (or a Pulsar 200). Wonder how much the cost will be. Fiero Carb is pretty expensive.

The thread has not been very active lately... Where is everybody???

I had to go out of town in an emergency for three days. Just got back yesterday. All is well!!! Cheers!

Yeah man,RTR180 carb costs something like 4k,all the CV carbs of bike manufacturers ,japs included except Hero Honda and Honda are made by ucal .So the best thing to do, with regard to carb is to buy it from the ucal dealer or bajaj.
Thread is not active because of Nanotech's absence.

So how was the countryside? did any bird watching ? saw any exotic birds? Man being in a city which is resembling a vast construction zone because of the metro work,i sure wish i was in the Himalayas and exploring her curves.

That's what i will do once things are checked with another carb and found that there's nothing wrong with the timing.

I think Nano had settled down with his bike after the Gasket under the bore mod.
Just 35 to 40 Kms from Chennai city there are lush fields and greenery. When i recently visited Bangalore I was saddened by the way the city had been dug up,and the beautiful face had been torn by unplanned civil construction and THE AMOUNT OF SUSPENDED DUST in the air...Sad to see Bangy this way

Yeah Bangalore is a beautiful city and it will be back to her best once the make over is done with.If you go just a few kms out of the city ,you will find mother nature in her seductive best. Karnataka is a very green and voluptuous state we are lucky in that regard, especially in the evergreen malnadregions(western ghats and its surrounding areas) which is where my native place is.

Yeah man!!! good to see the countryside again ... specially now with the fields covered with yellow mustard flowers. Great to see the mountains in crystal clarity. Wish I had more time to roam around and really enjoy the scenery.

Coming to carb: which is superior UCAL or Mikuni? Why are Bajaj carbs cheaper than TVS? Makes more sense to buy Bajaj right?

Buddy ,there's nothing like exploring mother nature's curves!! She always looks beautiful and you are lucky to be in mother himavati's lap The thing is,UCAL fuel systems are the licensed makers of some of the Mikuni CV carbs and they supply to all the makers except HONDA and its derivatives.Ucal are the suppliers of these carbs to Mikuni as well ,so there's no difference in quality .Mikuni just brands it and sells it.Auto spares and ancillaries industry is the second biggest foreign exchange earner after IT in india .So quality is never an issue,as india supplies auto spares to all the major auto manufacturers in the world.
Yes when it comes to carb and it's spares it makes sense to buy from UCAL dealer or bajaj .There will be small changes between a TVS and bajaj carb. For example fiero carb has a second smaller diaphragm which bajaj carbs don't have.

Mag wheels would definitely add some spice to a Fiero... I too would like mags. Any one done that yet? if yes... show us the picture.
