    Hi All ;

Now done 1700Kms on the ODO in about month's time , never exceeded 70Kms that too only for few moments.Did the 1st service at 1040kms on the ODO
I have been consistently getting around 40km/l though my riding style is very aggressive most of the times till I reach 5th gear the ingear RPM goes upto 5500rpms
I have ensured that rev setting is at 4500rpmsmy daily commute is 78kms and I don't feel tired though yet to test the summers of Bangalore.
Is my breaking in has been a problem attributing to poor mileage , guys pls share your thoughts

I get always 50kmpl always, even with aggressive riding 😉
From last 2 times I am getting 57kmpl mileage 😁
Also tell me how to set rpm alarm?

My bike has done 780 kms should i give the bike to the 1st free service or shall i wait till 1000km mark? share your toughts on this.
At which odo reading you guys took the bike to 1st service?

& iam ocassionaly touching 4.5 k rpm is it ok because in the manual its has mentioned that till 800 kms ride below 4.5k rpm. Yesterday just once touched 5 k rpm that is 70kmph.

Press adjust button repeatedly till the desired RPM is set also mentioned in your manual

Ofcourse yes! I have done 800 kms so far and always shift gears around 3000 to 4000 rpm besides keeping the vehicle on or below 4500 rpm 90% of the time. If I exceed it will be for a few seconds max by an extra 300 rpm.

So far it has returned me 53-55 kmpl in Bangalore outer ring road driving conditions. I fill petrol from Shell by the way. I would suggest you to shift gears around the same rpm for the next few days and also try and change your petrol station to something else (preferably a shell) and see if it makes a difference.

I would say ride another 50 or so kilometers and take it for first service! Reason being, their first break-in period finishes by 800 kms. So it is wise to give it new engine oil and other necessary adjustments immediately after the first break in period to fine tune it. My bike is on the exact odo reading as yours now and I am sending it to first service this weekend.

4.5k rpm is okay! There are people who have done hard break ins by constantly running it at higher rpms than that. Nothing to worry about when we keep it on or around 4.5k rpm. These are mechanical parts after all and riding it for an extra 500 rpms for a few seconds wont damage anything unless you keep it at higher rpms for longer period.

I hope you got an owner's manual with your bike.
You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame. ~Robert Pirsig

I purchased the NGK-Iridium plug with standard heat range according to the manual which is "7". The part number is CPR7EAIX-9 and it costed Rs.520
I am currently using a cooler plug NGK Platinum with heat range "8" which is NGK CPR8EAGP-9.

What difference does a spark plug make? Should I upgrade from the stock spark plug?
The sense of freedom these two wheels give can never be matched by anything else...

I've tried the stock NGK, Bosch twin, NGK G-power spark plugs in my Unicorn and with NGK G-Power the bike runs smoother with reduced vibrations.
So I purchased G-Power sparkplug for Gixxer also. I've never tried Iridium, so bought it.
Many say stock plug is the best, but there is no harm trying....
