There was a campaign against GS claiming that its fuel tank and some other parts are rusting. That was purposive and spread through face book and affected the sales of that bike. Many of the GS owners got the tank replaced even after warranty. Mine is 5 years old with that 'rusting' tank never replaced and is still in excellent condition.
So, if you like Gixxer, go for it without falling in these traps. In case any part of it rusts, Suzuki replaces it free without any question.

          Hi Karthik,

Iam in the same boat as you, as i had to decide on my first bike. And honestly, i was left with 4 choise 150 pulsar, CB trigger, Yamaha Fz-FI and luckily the gixxer came out.

The pulsar is too outdated(going to be rectified with 150NS sometime 2015 monsoon), CB trigger was ridiculously overpriced(CBS variant) and was overall average bike(quite good in each department).

Finally the new Yamaha. Quite honestly, i didnt like the new bike's looks, plus it was insanely overprice,(rode like an absolute beauty though!). And i was stuck!!!

Then the gixxer came out. One look and i new that this was my bike. Something about its looks absolutely convinced me. Not too muscular, but very sporty all at once.

2 test rides later i booked it. It was super stable, and i could feel much more pulling power compared to the FZ. Cheaper too! End of story.

With regards to your questions, every bike goes through a toothing phase, usually lasting uptil the 2nd service. As for the rust, certain times in transit, damp conditions can result in mild rusting, which fades away with usage.

My advice to you will be to test the bike extensively, and if you like it(which iam sure you will!), then close your eyes and book. This bike is top of the segment.
Ride it sane till the 2nd service, and you will see lovely performance/mileage figures that will blow your mind.

          Dont overthink things.

p.s- I booked it October 23rd, and i guess i will have to wait at least till 15th. Considering the pickup in sales, if you delay, i can easily see the initial waiting perioad jump to ~45-60days.

Could be a possibility that the bike was not used for a long period of time once delivered...with continuous usage, these rust marks on the disks and the front fork should vanish and they wear out with the mechanical movement. Don't worry about those things...my P220 has rust inside of the disk both on front and rear while delivery, say after 2 months of usage..its gone...

Karthik dont think too much just go for it as of now by far the best bike in 150 segment.Minor issues would arise which would either disappear as you use or can be rectified or replaced by suzuki.Just remember any segment be it car bike or electronics they will have minor glitches if any its an evolving phase if Gixxer had issues you wont have so many happy owners including wanna be owners like you.Buy it ride it and enjoy remember since its your first bike ride sane ride safe happy riding.Dont worry this is the best bike you can get as of now.If you have any issues suzuki and of course this forum is here to help.Happy riding. As I always say treat the bike you will get a proper response and return from it

The only rusting part of my first batch GS I replaced under warranty was the headlight bracket (cowling bracket) even though replacement of any part was possible. As I said earlier, my bike is still in excellent condition.
The second batch GS is with teflon coated fuel tank but it was after 4-5 years. So, still I think Gixxer is a good selection.

I heard the sound on the file, but it is only on idle. If you could record the sound on both idle and while revving it would be better.
However from what I can tell its the bikes normal sound just like pulsar engines have that same "whup whup whup" sound when engine idles.

From which showroom you purchased in Pune ? I got a quote from Kothrud of 83096 /- all inclusive (think includes 250/- as number plate charges)

I found them cheapest in Pune but still higher that what Suzuki website quotes : 81900 /-

Anyone called up or figured out from Suzuki why it costs 1000-2000 more than what is listed on their websites ?

Your gixxxer's idle rev sound is very different from my bike. I think your driving is insane. You should have followed the instructions in manual as for first 800kms you should not Rev more than 4.5k rpm.

Oh that's good. I checked only 2 showroom which where closer to my place. Kothrud is far from my place and yeah I think that's the lowest price for gixxer in pune.

                                Compare the idle sounds when;

The bike is hot and cold.
The bike is in neutral and when it is under load.
The bike is in neutral and with the clutch pulled in at neutral.

I hope the above would help narrow down your query.
