Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I have also lowered the bike a bit. Rear shock at softest setting and front forks pushed up through the triple clamps after loosening the pinch bolts. Useful mod for those who are a little vertically challenged like me. The drop in height is about a couple of cms max but helps me flatfoot the bike.
The changes are minor and I haven't noticed any change in handling at low or high speeds but suggest do this only if one is conformable fiddling with the suspension and also have some knowledge of suspension geometry.Leh Ladakh Aug 2015

wrap the fuel pipe ??? do you mean the exhaust header pipe?Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostTired of the fan running all the time, even in winter. Bike overheats a lot. Will it be of any help to wrap the fuel pipe?
wrapping anything (but your legs maybe
) is not going to help.
what do you mean by 'overheating' ? It is technically considered 'overheating' only if you have the 'high coolant temperature' warning on the console.. otherwise its just normal and a characteristic of the 390, or for that matter any higher capacity naked where you will feel the heat in our desi running conditions (weather, traffic etc..)

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Finally got the first service done well after 45 days time period but at 680kms odo. Pocket pinch of Rs.1529 including chain lubing worth 190.
Chain was a bit loose, air filter and other stuff cleaned.
Bought the 200NS original tank pad, failed miserably. Installed it last eve, today morning it came off due to the curved tank surface. Again the search begins for a worthy tank guard.
Got rid of the saree guard.
Want an orange/bluish tint on the front visor. Will it last? Or I will just get it smoked.
Had a talk with the service manager,he confirmed that the Z250 clutch and brake levers shall be a direct fit on the RC. Rs.900 each.
Attaching a pic of the tinted visor that was fitted on another owner's RC. Looks cool in the iridium finish. Can anyone tell me where can I get this item?Last edited by SpeedyKol; 01-03-2016, 12:59 AM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Sunday ride update.
Had 200 kms ride.
Predicting indian roads and traffic ahead is just impossible, ABS kicked in time when speed was around 130.
I just can't recommend powerful bike without ABS.
Was over pothole at high speed. No damage to rims/bike.
Handling was really good even at such situations.

Yes, some problem is there.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostKeep it 28 in the front and 28 at the rear, make it 30 if you have a pillion and ride for more than 100 KMS with mixed conditions.
Do keep us posted, this can help many folks around here.
Cheers!

If I am in slow traffic 30-40kmphr, then also fan is running continuously for 30-40 minutes, which was not earlier.
I think fan will give up slowly.
But the temperature remains @8 bars, so not worried much.
What I am thinking is that let the overheating and auto shut off engine take place(which I haven't faced yet), then I will visit service center.

first check the coolant level and the front of the radiator for any dirt/blockages.. clean the outside of radiator if necessary.Originally posted by bikersdream View PostYes, some problem is there.

also could be an issue with the coolant temp sensor and not the fan. the fan comes on at a predefined temperature, so if the fan is coming on then it probably means the fan is ok, but something is triggering it too often. I can't remember off the top of my head at what temp the fan kicks in (i think its around 87 or 89 C).
The svc mechanic will connect the diagnostic tool and let the engine run on idle and you can see on the diagnostic tool the temperature reading. when the fan kicks in note down the temperature reading and check if this reading is the specified temperature at which the fan is supposed to come on.
more information can be obtained from the workshop manual.. google it to find the download.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Fellow riders,
My ride has done over 2K kms and everything is fine as of now. I plan to ride it from Pune to Bangalore as I am moving there. What are the list of things I should check before I go ahead with this trip. And are there other stuff which I should carry along during the ride apart from riding gear.

tighten the chain if needed.
keep chain lube handy you will need it.
whenever you hit reserve, first fill the petrol. Dont run it on reserve for more than 10-20 kms
most important , wherever you stop or park bike , make sure its safe or at least you can keep your eyes on bike.
