Hence am asking if the part that u mentioned is working fine or not. Will it be a direct fit?
Yes it is direct fit...and if it 5700 then change it at the time of regular clutch plate change as extra money spent will be around 3000+ then..you will get more soft feel and also reduced engine braking....

How are DRLs related to headlights?

DRL means Day Time Running Lights. So by removing the the headlight on-off switches KTM is converting conventional setup into a DRL setup. Its a norm around the world that motorcycles should have headlights always ON, don't get fooled by the concept of having small LED strips on Apache etc because this concept is been taken from cars to look cool, instead of proper DRL setup on bikes.

I see a number of problems here. That article isnt really clear about the system

Removing the headlight switch removes the control on Primary Headlights. DRLs are a different thing.

Primary headlights use Halogen bulbs running on AC in the Duke 390 (I believe, Correct me if I am wrong) and DRLs are well LEDs

Keeping DRLs in the ON position permanently, this I can understand. But keeping Primary Headlights permanently ON? This can have negative effects.

Also if we are to assume that they will replace the Halogen Bulb in the primary system with an LED bulb, then it will require a Projector casing and conversion to DC. This is not a problem but if the LEDs are WHITE, then these lights become useless when it Rains!

Even main stream superbikes like R1, ZX10R etc all have halogen bulb based headlights and these need to be on all the time by the norm. You are confusing DRLs with parking lights.

Ah ok, I did some reading and you are right. Daytime running Lamps are directly connected to the engine so they turn on immediately when the engine fires up. So the Low-beam will be converted to DRL.

Yea I was thinking about the pilot lamps... Derp!

when ignition is turned on the headlight(lowbeam) and pilot lamps both light up. You don't need to fire up the engine.

Those are for export markets which have mandatory laws to have the headlamps/DRLs on. It wouldn't do any harm if the same were the case in India too, but India is a too much a customer centric market, so unless it is required by law, I don't see the urgency in bringing these to India. But would I personally love to have this feature? Absolutely! I'd love to see our road laws to change, especially for motorcycles, so we are more visible to drivers and the like.

                                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                                THE END
