Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
[QUOTE=hgps;1201546]
4. When he asked if he can get a january 2016 manufactured model (doesn't matter if it comes with slipper clutch or not). Sales person said 2016 manufactured model will arrive after 1 april since motorcycle manufacturers use financial year (1 april to 31 march) as model years. Is he trying to sell off his 2015 model to him or is there any reality in that sales guy's claim?
This info is not correct. The sales person is misrepresenting. He's trying to unload older stock. Read the last few pages, also has a VIN which shows Jan 2016 manufacture. To ensure MY 2016, ask your friend to mention 2016 MY in the booking slip and pay full amount after confirming the same through the VIN.

Replies in boldOriginally posted by hgps View PostHi guys, I hope you all are enjoying your bike.
One of my friends is planning to buy a new bike and he has finalized rc390 and cbr250r. Now he's having a hard time deciding which one to buy. Since this is rc390 ownership thread, he wanted me to ask you a few questions about the bike.
1. He's 6 ft 4 inch, slim weighs around 85-90. Will RC390 suit him? Will he be comfortable on it considering he's pretty tall and the bike is small in comparison. (he has taken test ride twice but both rides were not long enough to see if he faces any difficulty with sitting posture). Too tall, he could have issues with knee flex. Take a test ride AGAIN. Long rides can cause pain or discomfort
2. He will use the bike for daily commute (24-28km) as well as weekend rides (50-80km). Does RC makes sense as a daily commuter? I dont normally like to support RC being a Commuter because its a track bike. But for short distances including what you mentioned, the bike will do fine.
3. Are new owners of the bike still facing any reliability issues. Reliability is very important, so is the spare parts availability and A.S.S. considering he will use this bike as his daily commuter for next 5 years.
The reason he said that is because KTM dealers are currently trying to clear out the 2015 stock to prevent losses. If he told you that 2016 model will arrive after April, it means hes being honest about the stock he has.
other details: big no to other options in the market, apart from rc390 and cbr250r. He has extensively ridden CBR250R and felt no problem in sitting posture. But power was not enough for him (he currently rides a pulsar 200)

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Just went and checked the lot that arrived at jai autos, the VIN clearly read 'G' on the 10th digit and the clutch is butter smooth ,very easy to engage ,I checked it with a 2016 rc200 and its clutch was way harder. The head mechanic also confirmed that the 2016 model indeed has the slipper clutch in it ,no other visible changes. Mirrors were not fit in it still ,no ride by wire nor the exhaust too. I'll be booking the bike tomorrow. The North Eastern Sojourn- wanderlust diary-7000 Kilometers|| Sikkim || Bhutan

this is a good review even powerdrift one..they told merits and demerits of the bike not trying to get a winner out of it...i seen motorbeam review who look biased and talks mostly on comfort and refinement..these bikes are built for different prupose.....
most people speak about top speed ,acceleartion but no body talks about ingear rollon timings...in real word roll on timing imp are most imp atleast for me...i have seen a review somwhere or here in this thread where rollon timing was mentioned and in 80-120 in 6th gear Rc is 4 sec faster than ninja ..they also have rollon timings for other gear and other speed..I will try to find out the review and will upload here...Last edited by rawat97; 01-21-2016, 09:21 PM.

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
Excellent. Just be adviced, the Indian version is not going to get the side mounted exhaust or the Ride-by-wire to keep the cost unchanged.Originally posted by Chris2292 View PostJust went and checked the lot that arrived at jai autos, the VIN clearly read 'G' on the 10th digit and the clutch is butter smooth ,very easy to engage ,I checked it with a 2016 rc200 and its clutch was way harder. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I actually do not specifically want the exhaust ,ride-by-wire nor the slipper clutch too . Am happy with the rc390 as is,so any upgrades would just be an added advantage for me not a necessity.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostExcellent. Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
basically i am looking for slipper clutch and adjustable levers as brake lever is little far from my reach...i have to press slightly all the time ...i am also intrested in new master cylinder (if it changed).Originally posted by Chris2292 View PostI actually do not specifically want the exhaust ,ride-by-wire nor the slipper clutch too . i will get all retrofitted once new model is launched..if this is the only change for indian rc2016 then i will retrofit slipper clutch soon

Re: KTM RC 390 Ownership Experience
I took your word for it and ordered one yesterday for my RC390 as they didn't have stock. Can't wait to see the difference. It's only a 100 bucks and there are no negative effects so I thought I'll give it a shot.Originally posted by rawat97 View Postclutch is more softer than before ...
I'll update once its fit on mine!
Cheers!
