That is against the law. They have to specify delivery date, they can't take the booking amount otherwise and they can also quote additional charges towards price hike and processing fee otherwise.
This is wrong. How much did you pay as booking amount? Tell them to return it immediately and go book with another dealer. Ask for spot or immediate delivery there. And do send an email to ktm with the dealer name and the booking slip copy and tell them you'll take legal action against them if they don't rectify it immediately.
Be it 45 days or 500 days doesn't matter but the dealer must. (absolutely must) quote a fixed delivery date and give a valid reason for delay past that date. This is outrageous.
    OMG!!!
I had no idea it's legally binding on them!! How ignorant of me!!
They took 50k as booking amount!!!
This is all I got from them, Booking receipt, which doesn't mention any delivery date.

It has been a some time since I wrote here.
So I got my RC on oct 31 and since then It has been my daily use vehicle and my weekend corner scalpel.
She is a h00t to ride and the connection between the throttle and rear wheel is nigh immediate.
Initially I used to hate the stiff suspension but now I find my p220 too soft and unstable to corner. The seating posture was hard and my back used to pain.
But I have gotten used to it, Infact I have gotten addicted to the feedback the front suspensions give , the stability provided by the riding posture and the way she cuts.
Man this bike is slimmer than an R15 (believe me checked by parking next to one) and can go through the smallest openings.
When you are on RC (or Duke 390) everything else on the road is just slow , even when you are doing less speeds than the other vehicles.
I have finally come close to level 5 on the tires and when I started I was level 2.(FYI tires on 390s have levels to indicate how much have you bent the bike on corner)

Heat s never a problem since the fan and fairing keep a good job of throwing the heat away from you. And the sound of it is so beautiful that you will rev it just to hear that.

      Now for the ugly parts,

The front clear fairing is plain hard to clean or keep spotless so I have given up on that. However thats mitigated by the side fairings which are of a very good quality material(its not plastic or may be som hifi plastic)
The mileage is horrible I mean 21 is normal 25 if you are a good boy and 30 only if you keep her above 100 (yes you rev her more the mileage increases checked today got 210 km for 7l).
The steel part in the fuel tank makes me the jerk in petrol bunk who catches the nozzle .
The puny fuel tank , man why why couldn;t they make it atleast 10l (I mean the unreserved capacity) .
Cramster saddle bags wont exactly fit on it so have to see, also there are no saddle bags currently which can fit on RC.

      The bad
getting krr keee sound from brakes from past many days will get it fixed in second service.
That front number plate is horrible need to go 220 on it and use the double sided tape.
The stiff suspension mean the bike will throw you off the seat if the bumper is big enough and your speed is higher(dont worry just catch harder).
You need a paddock stand to lube the chain since the keeping it on side stand and fiddling is very hard.

Real great to hear that. But I have some queries for you.

        1. How are the rattles/vibrations post 8 to 9k?
        2. How is the smoothness w.r.t to the Duke (optional, in case you have ridden the Naked 390)
        3. Any niggles/petty issues faced so far? Yes? Please let us know that.
        4. On a tank full, what's the mileage you've gotten, considering a sane pace.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            Congrats for your ride!!

The mileage however seems quite low. I am getting 30 kpl in mixed conditions of highway and traffic. Extreme riding drops it to 28 while sedate highway riding has provided me around 34 kpl.

I lubed my chain today only and guess what, I was without paddock stand and with no one to assist!! And given that I used Tribocor which is quite sticky, the whole lubing took me good 40+ mins!! A paddock stand would certainly go a long way in expediting the process.

40+ minutes!!??? What did you do exactly?? Put a drop of lube on individual ring.??!!
Even without the paddock stand the process should not take more than 5 minutes( if you are only lubing the chain and not cleaning it). Make sure you do take a quick short ride before and after lubing just to make the lubricant stick more efficiently on the chain.

                1. How are the rattles/vibrations post 8 to 9k?

Hmm havent crossed 7.5 much however just like how 220 feels near 6k rpm 390 feels near 8k makes one feel that you can upshift
However not any rattles. BTW the rev limiter hits very hard just like slamming the brakes. did you feel that way in DUke.

                2. How is the smoothness w.r.t to the Duke (optional, in case you have ridden the Naked 390)
So the 390 I have ridden was The TD bike in Bangalore that too the first lot, compared to that
I feel the smoothness is there compared to the older bike but this year and last years D390 are much more refined (had taken one more test drive last year)
but if you are @ wrong gear with low rpms the bike starts to lug badly.

                3. Any niggles/petty issues faced so far? Yes? Please let us know that.
The front number plate vibrates badly near 3k-4k rpm
And my front brakes are making a badd keeee sound.
The battery cover is not that good (infront of the tank)
Apart from this the bike is pretty awesome

                4. On a tank full, what's the mileage you've gotten, considering a sane pace.

On tank full (7.5 l before the low fuel warning I get 200-210 kms) Though I only go as high as 4th gear since I shift near 6k.
                Cheers!

Hmm yea I need to see how do you and a couple of other members get so nice mileage (today I too got 30 ) which rpm do you shift and how much throttle changing do you do.
I use gear oil to lube my chain (yup it performed nicely on 220 so will continue with it on 390 ) so if its taking 40+ minutes as already stated try lubing the chain with a lil bit less lube and a paddock stand will be a boon for lubing.

                  Well, just doing my bit.

Coming to the Duke, I usually always like to hit the rev limiter on my Duke, but the rev limiter cut off, yes it sets you back quite with a punch, but not enough to destable ones composure. Secondly I've been plagued with this brake screech noise upon hard braking (front) I've tried sprays, air jet, nothing seems to work, perhaps need to get it buffed a little.

Regrets is all I have for parting my 220.

                  Cheers!

Are you sure about it ? I've always heard people advising not to ride the bike immediately after lubing the chain.

Do this go to showroom tell them you quoted 45 days and ask to cancel the booking.
They will say 4k for cancellation. Ask them why this huge amount for a product which has not arrived and even you are not sure when it will come.

Make some noise you will be heard trust me happened with me.

You could say that. Sadly I have got this Tribocor TC208 which is quite thick and sticky which means I have a tough time with its dispensing mechanism. The lube either won't come out and when it does there is so much of it that it sprays straight on the rims. Hence, I have to go link by link on inside and outside. I know this isn't the most efficient way but I do get to inspect chain closely so I've got that going for me.

Btw, when I took me bike for servicing about 350kms back, they lubed with OKS spray. That spray was totally gone in 350 kms when I inspected yesterday. In comparison, Tribocor does seem to last long.

Yes I should have taken a small ride to warm up the chain. I forgot that. But I am not sure about the ride after lubing part. I thought one should let the lube dry out a bit and soaking in before taking for a ride.

Hmm well in the contradiction of century my wife loves to ride pillion on the RC (she loves the pull more than me ) so I won't be getting the claw let's see if I can modify the cramster bags itself.

Yea. That OKS is used at all the SVCs. It does hold for about 500 kms on highway rides. Then the chain starts making grr grr noises. I'm gonna use Motul chain lube from next time. Used it once and it too hold for 500 kms as well but the bike was a lot more smoother and so were the up shifts.

The reason behind riding the bike after lubing is to make sure the lube properly between all the linkages which will be more efficient in a rotating chain rather than a standing chain. Or you could do a tiny little burnout...:P
