Can you shed light on why servicing is a nightmare? Looks & weight you & we are well aware of before buying, but servicing I felt being a Bajaj, they should have managed it better, would like to hear from you. Which city are you from?

Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
I dont think the chain slackness has an effect on gear shifting. But Let the chain slackness to be at same level. SVC's always set a higher tension in chain so that even if it get loosens in the course of time it wont affect the ride quality. Second, higher chain tension will cause vibrations, so leave it as now.Originally posted by shah123 View PostI feel the chain slack has increased a bit and the sometimes the gears are not falling to position properly, its like there's no more gear to shift to( though i am at 2nd or 3rd gear, its like the vehicle is in neutral) i have to move the vehicle a little bit with clutch release and then shift the gears.
should i get this checked?
Regarding your issue, it will happen when you try to shift the gear when it's not moving. I hope you are not getting false neutrals.

Bajaj service has always been a worst nightmare, which you and I, ofcourse everybody here knows well(except for rare svc which does it well). Nowadays I stopped taking it to Bajaj SVC for small fixes (oil, filter, small issues, lubing) either doing myself or nearby local workshop.Originally posted by judebrent View PostCan you shed light on why servicing is a nightmare? This guy @amarme001, must be a crazy fella
, sold Duke390, bought RS200 knowing it weighs heavy (esp coming from KTM), then tried several measures to drop some weight on his RS200, etc.now finally fed up and selling it... Maybe you should wait some more time and try to get used to this bike, shouldn't you?. I think this is a very short time to decide.
So Mr @amarme001, what's your next bike?. Maybe you should wait for BMW G310R, my dream bike, and I'm waiting for it readily to swap mine for any damn cost
, but sure @2.5L+ that wont be a VFM
I already see so many ads for RS200, starting from 95K on OLX. I think you may be able to sell it for ~1.15K easily. But whatever be so, sell it as early as you can, because we have Auto Expo 2016 fast approaching.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
One small query:
When i am riding at 85 km/h or above, and release the throttle, there is some sound for few seconds and goes away after speed is reduced around 80 or so. Is it common with all RS 200? I am unable to explain how the sound is, but mostly seems like engine braking. Is it normal?
When i remove the grip of throttle at 80km/h, and engine braking starts to apply there is no disturbing sound.
@amarme001 @judebrent, while selling the bike, do you guys calculate the cost as Insurance + RC+ Ex-showroom price or only on Ex showroom price?
Also during transfer of vehicle do you guys need to transfer your insurance as well or is it the same on first owner?Last edited by nayan_jindal; 12-30-2015, 02:26 PM.

It depends on how you slip the clutch at high rpm. But without knowing the sound type, can't really predict exactly.Originally posted by nayan_jindal View PostOne small query:

Bro the service center was good until few years back, but bajaj has been doing good selling premium segment motorcycles and metro cities have two or more probiking to handle the load but in smaller cities as Vizag has only one probiking, so load is too much for them to handle. So not getting the premium service deserved. Actually leave premium service they are not even willing to solve small issues which is irritating.
Regarding the weight, I think I dropped considerable weight and that Including mine
so the bike feels light and goes like a rocket, but it is confused in terms of handling. I know its too early but I am used to the handling more or less and am confident enough, but then again I have tried a million ways but none is working to make me comfortable astride it in long term. The siting position is not naked street or not super sport or not adventure tourer heck its not even a super tourer as the wind screen is too short.
I am thinking of keeping two motorcycles at a time, A sub 1 lakh and one premium which has good service center. Thinking of honda hornet and another one I am looking for new product most probably honda or yamaha or even tvs/bmw. I know even these service center are not good but at least I don't have to make frequent visit to service center as a Bajaj.
Trying to sell it as soon as possible and will be keeping the yellow one as my brother loves it, Hopefully the BMW g310r will be something to wait for.

Hi I think you can find your answer above, and yes I knew its weight but the weight issue is not in terms of sheer power but stopping and handling is hugely effected by the weight which I sadly got to know in long term ownership and which I personally don't like. I want something like a KTM but made like a HondaOriginally posted by judebrent View PostCan you shed light on why servicing is a nightmare? My bad for not explaining my query clearly or misunderstanding your post. What i meant was (explained step by step):Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostIt depends on how you slip the clutch at high rpm. But without knowing the sound type, can't really predict exactly.
1) Currently riding at a speed of 110km/h. Clutch is not pressed , no brakes, just the grip on throttle and going fine.
2) Suddenly i release the throttle- still no braking or clutch pressing.
As soon as i do 2 there come sort of squeezing sound may be from engine or god knows from where, which goes after the bike hits to 80km/h. At the time of sound engine braking is in process and nothing else. If i do the same steps from 80 km/h and then come down, no such sound is observed.
Hope i have explained a little better. May be someone who is comfortable try this and share his experience or if this is normal.
anyone? little paranoid on this? The sound is like the same produced when someone scratches glass with his nails.Last edited by nayan_jindal; 12-30-2015, 06:13 PM.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
I too have the same problem... But at any speed... When I release the throttle I get some buzzer sound... To explain it better its almost same as the sound like the one which u get from speedometer console when u switch on the ignition key... The sound also can be compared to the sound of a buzzer from an indicator of other bikes when drenched in rain or water... Imagine Continuous beep with mild or very little decibels or loudness...Originally posted by nayan_jindal View PostMy bad for not explaining my query clearly or misunderstanding your post. Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
With my experience with rs200, I feel the method with 1.25 lit per bar in console is near to accurate... Bcoz I fill petrol when the fuel bars are empty and indicator starts blinking... From there I can accommodate only 10 litres... I tried the same way twice now purposefully... So reserve is at 3 litres and that is when we get all our fuel bars empty in console...but still not sure of how much petrol is usable in reserve... As I don't want to risk and blow petrol dry to get my fi device tampered...also regarding top speed in the ads and web its marketed as 140.8km/h but in the manual its mentioned as 130 only... To note digital speedometer cannot give accurate speeds... I tried measuring speed in three way, analog meter, GPS and digital... All three gave different results... Now not sure which is exact or relative to accuracy...Originally posted by shah123 View PostHi guys,
I have completed 1600Km in my RS , went for long ride to Wayanad ,Kerala last weekend (700Km round trip).
The bike was pleasure to ride through out the journey, never felt any pain on my shoulders or arms or spine.
I had to take the bike through steep and rough roads and it dint fail me anywhere.
I was able to get to a top speed of 129-130 Kmph a couple of times, other than that was at an average of 75-80 kmph.
Now i have a couple of questions or doubts that i hope someone can clarify for me ..
I calculated mileage during this trip.
1st method : full tank to full tank
I completed 320Km with 7.8125 liter which gave me a mileage of 40.96 Kmpl
2nd method : tried to divide the total trip distance covered vs the fuel bar indication
I used up almost 14-15 bars of the fuel indicator for the 700km trip.
since the tank capacity is 13 liters i though each bar would be 1.825 liters (8 bars full tank)
in that case my mileage would be 30-31 kmpl which did not seem right,
some where in this forum i've read that each bar is 1.25 liters, in that case my mileage would be around 40Kmpl which matches the full tank to full tank calculation.
so if that is right then does it mean that the fuel meter shows only 10 liters? where is the rest ?is it reserve ?
what is the usable reserve, how can i come to know the remaining amount of petrol?
My second concern is regarding the top speed , i have seen many videos or post saying the top speed is around 140-150Kmph
But my RS started giving RPM limits(orange light) at 130kmph
me and my pillion weighs 60kg each, is this the max with a pillion rider on the bike?what factor may affect the top speed?
Third concern is regarding the seats. even though the bike was comfortable for the upper body while riding , the lower part was not that comfortable.
the seats are bit hard. Can anyone suggest me a good seat cover (type) and place in Bangalore where i can get one.
Now that i have completed almost 1.7k should i get a service done ?? the second free service is at 4k km, what should i do when i cross the 2k km mark?
I feel the chain slack has increased a bit and the sometimes the gears are not falling to position properly, its like there's no more gear to shift to( though i am at 2nd or 3rd gear, its like the vehicle is in neutral) i have to move the vehicle a little bit with clutch release and then shift the gears.
should i get this checked?

I told you all before once you get to know the gauges you can perfectly tell the fuel left in tank,Originally posted by ssrraghav View PostWith my experience with rs200, I feel the method with 1.25 lit per bar in console is near to accurate... Always refill whenever(or before) low fuel warning lights starts to dance so you wont burn Injecter,
Never lean with your bike when it shows low fuel, sometimes it results in engine shutoff or you will feel jerks, (jerks in corners are big No No)
Regarding top speed im not redlining the bike, will try after second service, but im hitting 110-115 at 8000RPM
Analouge Meter!!!
How did you measured by this meathod,,
By drag racing with another bike which has analouge meter!!:-/

Originally posted by rachitsharma2000 View PostTank-to-Tank method is the most accurate method to calculate the fuel efficiency in absense of reserve knob. So, 41 kmpl seems to be accurate in your case.
The fuel bar method is, although interesting, but a little inaccurate here. Reason is that although there are 8 bars total but to calculate fuel per bar, you need to divide the fuel tank capacity by 9. Because even if no bar is visible, there still is some usable petrol left and the petrol pump sign starts blinking on dashboard.
So, total capacity = 13 L
Usable quantity = 13 - 0.5 (dead fuel) - 0.5 (empty tank space) = 12 L
Total Bars = 8 + 1 (empty bar) = 9
Fuel per bar = 12 / 9 = 1.33 L per bar
In you case, mileage = 700 / (1.33 * 14) ~ 38 kmpl
Others, please feel free to correct the calculation...

The weight is certainly the most important factor deciding top speed/acceleration. You + pillion = 120 kg. Thats 45 kg more than the weight on my bike when I did a max of 140 kmph. So, this extra weight is bound to have a negative effect on top speed.
Other factors can be high wind/ slope etc.
Finally, if you want to attain the top speed, you should start redlining from 3rd gear onwards. Otherwise it is quite difficult to get to the max speed on 6th gear.
Having said that, if I were in your place I would have given a serious thought against such actions because the bike is still in the run-in period. Whatever you do to your bike now is going to affect its behavior 20k km later. So, think accordingly.
Hey thanks for the clarification bro..
I'll do a thorough checking on how much is the fuel tank capacity from no bar to full bar.
Regarding the high speed, i never intended to get the bike to its top speed , the road was superb and the traffic was none, i couldnt resist
And i was under full control before first service and until 800km. Now that he first service was over i thought i can open up the bike once or twice. i dint go past 110 mark more than a couple of times, other than that i was under 90kmph, hope that wouldnt cause any problems.

On analogue meter, yes I measured with another bike ridden parallel and constant... It's not a drag race & all and I strictly do not encourage or support of any sorts... Just drove both the bikes at 45km/h approx where in analog it was 45 and digital it was 48...
