Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
Hi Guys,
Forgive my lack of knowledge over the matter, I would like to solicit your assistance in zeroing on a DOT branded helmet (light weight & having good ventilation) & a pair of gloves for city riding. Budget is not on a higher side.
Kindly share your views.

Your best bet would be to check in the helmets thread.Originally posted by abbysodhi View PostHi Guys,

But if your budget is about 2k then studds shifter is the one you should go for.
If your budget is about 3.5k then go for the spartan kranos.---

To avoid the confusion, Bajaj calls it "RACING SPORT", something new in dictionaryOriginally posted by amarme001 View Post
The siting position is not naked street or not super sport or not adventure tourer heck its not even a super tourer as the wind screen is too short. Trying to sell it as soon as possible and will be keeping the yellow one as my brother loves it, Hopefully the BMW g310r will be something to wait for.

.
. Generally SVC don't do any minor fixes, because to them how many job sheets they complete per day matters....!!!
You can wait till feb 2016 Auto Expo. Hell lot of bikes, and the most impressed ones are Suzuki GSX 250R, BMW G310R, TVS Apache 200 ABS. Out of this, BMW just blew my mind. Suzuki 250 is expected to pit head to head with RS200, but the spy images make it appear like GSM 1000, which is a killer. TVS, as we all know, bringing the concept design with full ABS. You might want to wait for it

I can understand. Upon coasting whie revving down at high speed, you are getting this weird sound.... I have heard it sometimes, that mostly sound whenever I do a higher rev down, say from 9-8K RPM. That mostly was likely due to some lose spare, which resonated along with the engine frequency. Post service I didn't hear.Originally posted by nayan_jindal View PostMy bad for not explaining my query clearly or misunderstanding your post. What i meant was (explained step by step):
1) Currently riding at a speed of 110km/h. Clutch is not pressed , no brakes, just the grip on throttle and going fine.
2) Suddenly i release the throttle- still no braking or clutch pressing.
As soon as i do 2 there come sort of squeezing sound may be from engine or god knows from where, which goes after the bike hits to 80km/h. At the time of sound engine braking is in process and nothing else. If i do the same steps from 80 km/h and then come down, no such sound is observed.
Hope i have explained a little better. May be someone who is comfortable try this and share his experience or if this is normal.
anyone? little paranoid on this? The sound is like the same produced when someone scratches glass with his nails.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
Hey guyz ..I have a small doubt. The Drls on RS doesnt run all the time, means to turn them on you have to turn on taillight, dashboard light and switch backlight lights. But doesnot the drls have to run all the time with engine on and without putting on any switch, like tvs apache ? So is it actually parking light in the name of drls ?

Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
So I went to the SVC again to complain about this sound from the front wheel.
Still no parts available for the bike. I have been told to wait another week.
I also inquired about the tappet sound (annoying tik-tik at idle) which scared them. They say it's too much of a hassle to open the entire fairing and tank assembly this early. Now I have to wait till 15K Kms!
What should I do guys? Should I wait or should I find another willing SVC?

Ask those service guys to do it.but are you sure it's the tappets.its their responsibility to do it.you are paying for it.force him to do it and be near him.also they have a gauge .make sure he uses it.Originally posted by Minisoda View PostSo I went to the SVC again to complain about this sound from the front wheel.

But the most fundamental important thing-make sure your bike is dead cold.once you drive to svc wait for atleast 2-3 hours for the engine to cool.otherwise with hot engine no point doing it because metal expands when hot and it doesn't help at all in the measurements when done in hot temp!

I think you are much more experienced than me in this department.
The sound comes at idle and also in slow crawling speed. It's like a constant "tik tik tik" sound which comes between firing intervals. It's very annoying and is not present in the 2 bikes my friends have.
They say they simply won't open up the bike. The manager also says the sound is normal. I said then why isn't it so pronounced in the other bikes? To this he had no reply and he walked away.
I don't have any SVC near me for at least a few hundred kilometers so these guys are my only hope.
Am I correct in assuming this is indeed the tappet sound?

Tappet clearance is a must to do. Because failing and living with it, will cause so many problems mainly likeOriginally posted by Minisoda View PostSo I went to the SVC again to complain about this sound from the front wheel.

1. Engine vibration
2. The tick tick irritating sound, will continue to increase over time. More gap, more sound
3. Poor mileage
4. Engine noise and harshness.
Tappet adjustments for Pulsar needs to be done atleast every 10K KMs, because of the engine's high compression ratio plus, the SOHC housing. It wasn't the case with Duke. Bajaj should have given a thought about that. I had that issue with my Disco, during that time, the sound and noise were bothering so much. Finally i ended up changing the valve, plus several other parts.
Please don't push it for longer duration. If required, let your bike there (if the svc is good) because they need to do it only when the engine is cold. Hence it will take time and you already know how svc are running these days, plus give it on weekdays like Tuesday.

This is how the tappet sound will come outOriginally posted by Minisoda View PostThanks for the reply bro.

You can hear that during idling and at low rpms. Usually at high RPM, with your helmet+air+traffic, you may not be able to hear it. But the clearance increases slowly and the firing order becomes uncontrollable at high RPM (meaning the timing chain will start to vary), which will result in unwanted jerk, loss of power, engine shutdown (not sure, havent seen anyone complained) etc. Don't try to attempt yourself as this is not an easier job, plus you need gauges to adjust this. Best bet is, wait for some time. Then one weekday, give your bike and let it be until they fix this. Otherwise, if your service is due anytime soon, then consider doing it at that time

The sound is actually not that noticeable. I can only hear it if I'm specifically listening and concentrating on that sound. However it's still more than the other two RS 200's I have near me. I will try again tomorrow and compare the sound by letting the bikes idle in a quite place.
These SVC people are refusing to do any minor/major work on the bikes. I am going to try my luck again and hope they agree.
If not I'm definitely going to someone else. I wonder why he said 15000 Kms to me if it is supposed to be done at 10K?
Also, if I get it done from some other SVC, do I have to pay for it or does it come under warranty?

Do record the sound of 3 bikes i ll try to check wheather its really a tappet or some loose Nuts (some times a small stone stuck inside fairing makes that tak tak tak sound, i ve faced this once so)Originally posted by Minisoda View PostThanks a lot!

Good Idea. I'll try to get a video and hopefully post it in the next few days so you guys know what I'm talking about.Originally posted by Yatheesh S Yashashvi View PostDo record the sound of 3 bikes i ll try to check wheather its really a tappet or some loose Nuts (some times a small stone stuck inside fairing makes that tak tak tak sound, i ve faced this once so)

Where are these bolts located?Originally posted by Sarvothama View PostThere are two bolts under the exhaust belly which gets loose most of the time. That may be the cause of the irritating sound.
If you can post a pic or tell me the exact place I'll try and get those checked as well.
Thanks a lot!
